New MAC OS LION may not work with chat
etasman2000 replied to ottanon's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Firefox 5.0.1 seem fine. Chat is due to a known issue with Adobe Flash. From Adobe The tab key doesn't work. I went into System Preferences/Flash Player and Block all sites from using cam/mic. This stopped chat from asking upon login. And it seems to be fine. -
It is also true that young college / university male students have a better hit-rate with non-SPs partners.

MP Bids to Make Buying Sex Illegal in Canada
etasman2000 replied to a topic in Legal discussion, cases & questions
This video is worth viewing by everyone! Her comment about clients informing Law Enforcement of underage/traffic sex workers is a key point to note. Are the current laws (Sweden and possibly Canada) consider misogynistic even as they may be promoted by (so called) feminist ? There seem to be a hyper focus on female sex workers as pointed out in the video. -

i can't agree more. the adult industry was the first to push for credit card purchases on the internet, for more bandwidth, for streaming media and for cross site advertising. recently the adult industry and gambling were the two pushing for better credit card verification which actually helps all of us who purchase vanilla stuff online. -

Last month, when the New York congressman Anthony Weiner finally admitted that he had lied, that his Twitter account had not been hacked, that he in fact had sent a picture of his thinly clad undercarriage to a stranger in Seattle, I asked my wife of six years, mother of our three children, what she thought. More specifically, I asked which would upset her more: to learn that I was sending racy self-portraits to random women, Weiner-style, or to discover I was having an actual affair. She paused, scrunched up her mouth as if she had just bitten a particularly sour lemon and said: â??An affair is at least a normal human thing. But tweeting a picture of your crotch is just weird.â? How do we account for that revulsion, which many shared with my wife, a revulsion that makes it hard to imagine a second act for Weiner, like Eliot Spitzerâ??s television career or pretty much every day in the life of Bill Clinton? One explanation is that the Weiner scandal was especially sordid: drawn out, compounded daily with new revelations, covered up with embarrassing lies that made us want to look away. But another possibility is that there was something not weird, but too familiar about Weiner. His style might not be for everyone (to put it politely), but the impulse to be something other than what we are in our daily, monogamous lives, the thrill that comes from the illicit rather than the predictable, is something I imagine many couples can identify with. With his online flirtations and soft-porn photos, he did what a lot of us might do if we were lonely and determined to not really cheat. With the recent thread about women doing plastic surgery on their vulva here is one regarding men. Its a 4 pager article. ============================================== In 2008, New York Magazine reported on a small group of men sitting in a bleak room on 13th street, commiserating, offering support, and trying to come up with something other than â??small penisâ? to describe their "affliction": "Weâ??ve been throwing around other names,â? says John Miller, a stocky man with a therapeutic manner. â??People have suggested firecracker or sparkplug as words with positive connotations." While New York Magazine ostensibly covered this â??Small Penis Support Groupâ? as an esoteric joke, the sentiment behind the group isnâ??t so rare. A small penis support forum, Measuerection.com, boasts over 10,000 members. A user named â??Nubdickâ? sums up the movement: â??Iâ??ve been ridiculed and made fun of by women so much that I've pretty much given up. It doesn't help that the media is constantly barraging us with 'Size DOES matter' -- from music to TV shows and movies, even advertising.â? Why the courts must decriminalize prostitution
etasman2000 replied to Nathalie L's topic in In the news
There are 3 parts to this question: effects of decriminalization, effects of regulation via municipal zoning provisions, and, positive/negative effects on sex workers. I will frame each answer as best I can: feel free to post questions for clarification and debate (i.e. disagree) each of my points. Effects of decriminalization: A large majority of the Canadian population is situated within 150km from the US border. US and Canada are under NAFTA and many Canadian cities have direct flights to/from US airport hubs. There is also a lessening USD/CAD parity and an economic slowdown in the US. Given these factors decriminalization would likely cause an influx of US and ,to a lesser extent, Mexican sex workers into Canada. This influx would first target major airline hubs like Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Halifax and border town like Kingston. This influx would likely cause compensation depression in the near term before stabilizing. It would likely encourage local SP to travel to under represented areas of Canada. The tail effect is clients from the US visiting Canada be it under the guise of work or vacation. However it is unlikely Canada be known as a sex tourist destination with the USD/CAD being at par. Decriminalization does not reduce the barrier of entry into the sex trade, it increases the barrier of entry. In the near term decriminalization would not encourage locals to enter the sex trade, the social stigma on sex work being the largest barrier. It would increase self identification where someone who is currently engage in limited, occasional or even monogamous sex work taking on the label. Decriminalization would benefit this segment the most, making it clear they are engage in legitimate work. Long term effects of decriminalization would be an increase the number of occasional sex worker. Effects of regulation via municipal zoning provisions: This is very likely Municipality dependent. Zoning provisions can be use to revitalize municipality cores and generate significant revenue for the Municipality. Aruba and Frankfurt,Germany both have red light districts (RDL). Both however deals with it differently. In Aruba the RDL is placed south of the island 45 mins away from the main city and away from the northern tourist area. In Frankfurt the RDL is within the downtown core and service by a local metro station. Restaurants and bars in Frankfurt close to the RDL benefited from the influx of people to the RDL, especially during the weekend. In Aruba due to its distance from the main city the RDL did not generate this side revenue. One issue encountered in Aruba was local non-sex worker ladies accosted by clients especially at night. This resulted in a by-law indicating all sex workers had to be confined within the bar/brothel. Police presence was significant in Frankfurt and markedly less in Aruba. This is likely associated with where the RDL was located and the type of clientele, Frankfurt having a mix gender and age tourist crowd and Aruba mostly men. How would this effect Canadian cities ? Cities which currently have a large number of city approved massage parlors and strip clubs would find it difficult clustering all of them into a specific RDL. However these cities would also have the most experience managing sex positive zones. Conservative city, like Ottawa, would likely rezone and isolate a RDL away from the downtown core and away from current residential areas. Depending on how the Federal law is structured this would likely criminalize sex workers who prefer working from their homes. The concern is opinions[2] would be less sympathetic to these sex workers as there is a perceived and tacit agreement that sex work should be confined within an arbitrary geographical location. [2] within the general public and more damaging within the sex workers/client community. Positive/negative effects on sex workers: The effects on sex workers can be divided into 3 areas, compensation, social views and workplace safety. Given the current legal status of sex work decriminalization would have a minimal long term effect on compensation. There has been a general trend towards a positive acceptance of sex work. Decriminalization would first reduce this acceptance (i.e. backlash) before stabalizing a positive acceptance. There is doubt that decriminalization would accelerate positive acceptance. Workplace safety for incalls would not be effect by decriminalization although in general safety would increase. However safety procedures must be taught, decriminalization in itself would not have any effect in safety. -
