Been hit twice lately with the damsel in distress routine. Hyper, sobbing, pretty, petite, blond appears (while I'm checking my tires), "my girl friend kicked me out...no where to go...I'm not on drugs...I'm a good girl...need money real bad...a buss ticket...can I get in your truck and drive away from here, now !...(truly thought I was helping some one). Driving her downtown, (while checking my mirrors), she says, " I need 20...40...60...I'll do anything.... at that point I said" What do you mean ? What ever that is I'm not interested !" Seemed to lose interest in me when I gave her a 20 and mentioned Womens Shelter. A real person asking for help? or an attemped sting ? Will never know for sure. It's sad that I will think twice about helping some one on the street !
