1. i don't know why more people don't just exercise even basic precautions, such as what you are doing. for me, i do not have an advertising sp FB account, and i do not have a ph# in it, and i do not friend people i don't investigate first and i do not click on any suggestions FB may make that doesn't also include why fb is making the suggestions, as in 'this person has 3 mutual friends' with you, then i will look at their name, if nothing pops up, that is the extent of my interest in them. all settings are private friends only my real life fb page does not have face pics of myself, my alternative life fb page does not have any links to my real life or face pics of myself.
2. you can follow laura lee on twitter here https://twitter.com/GlasgaeLauraLee for any updates on this lawsuit.
3. i agree with option 3 above there. If i was a parent who found out my 12 year old had joined up on a dating site to chat with older men, i wouldn't be contacting the older men at all. i'd shut down the account, shut down the internet and ground the kid from electronic devices for 2 years lol i would not be blaming a guy chatting with an account presented as a 20 year old for sure. i really think the conversation was going into a direction of extortion, and that possibly there is no 12 year old, and probably no female at the other end, just a scam artist.
4. i had quite a long break from being able to type well enough to communicate because of using a stinking tablet, but now back on a laptop yay. not sure if that means i will find things that are recent enough to post a comment in that is of interest. i also find sometimes if i am busy with other work, or now that i can finally respond better to emails received, when i do go online onto a forum it is later in the evening, and i am mostly just reading and not enough energy to compose my own reply. of course it is also stinking hot out here since i got the laptop, so some of the time it is due to enjoying the sunshine while it is here, rather than reading. which brings us around to the natural seasonal flow of things, which means we are in nice weather now and we were in winter so staying indoors.
5. i think with your ads, you put in your hours/schedule, it helps a lot. you are not 24/7, so in all ads, put in what your min/max times are, and the days of the week. if you are flexible, then you are probably setting up ads for the days you are available. have voice mail with a message that you change frequently, encourage them to phone not text even. sorry re; the texts, but the real downside with texts is that it comes in and if you aren't answering right away, they have no idea what is going on. so unless text apps come up with an auto responder feature, one that goes out on first contact by someone texting that says 'sorry, i am not available right at the moment to reply, but i will as soon as possible. today i am available until 9pm, tomorrow the 17th from 8am to 5pm only. i do not reply to text messages or phone calls outside of these times.. please call back after 4pm today, or leave a message and i will return your call after 4pm." you would change the message every time you get a new appt, with your newest eta lol. i don't i just have voice message that says leave a message or call back every 15 until you reach me, and that i am available today or 'in'. it gives them that info they need. also, it puts the onus on them, they leave a message or they will call back, and if they do neither they will not reach me. this is how you avoid the common complaint of you 'never' being around or not interested, etc. if they do send a text tho, reply within an hour, if more than an hour, don't. that is another way to avoid the 'not interested' tone. and no, if someone leaves that as a message, you are NOT interested in seeing anyone so petty or petulant. it is supposed to be fun, they are not entitled to your time, and that bad attitude is annoying. that is something that you could put in a voicemail, so forcing people to phone not text gets them to your message.
6. first, what is that referring to and second, i just did that with 2 different series over the past week or so. and it was pretty awesome.
7. it was always a trumped up lawsuit because AGs got pissy becuse they had no legal right to sut it down...so probably they went hinting for some lame idea and came up with this one. you just cant claim an advertising site especially one that clearly states that NO sexual service ads are allowed is responsible for someone posting an ad for underage sps against being coerced by the ones posting the ads. also.lack of understanding about copyright infringement of the photos..that is reaching.. that still goes back to the poster not the site....the site mkes it clear that posters cant use stolen photos they have a process in place to remove photos and ads with stolen pics. and account holders with alot of reports are going to get blocked for doing tht.....it wouldnt even get past first glance in a court..
8. it was in either Australia or New Zealand. i think the link is in the News section. it is a good example for why decriminalizatin is necessary. there was no problem for the sp to report the incident and to get criminal charges laid.
9. Most real support orgs agree this whole premise is fake. you do as someone mentioned need time to build a rapport. also here is some reason to distrust te idea theyactually help anyone. there are about 500 beds total for such "rescues"provided by rescue orgs in the entire countr. i find it hrd to imagine they are the one org that has real solutions in place. no one has indicated who is paying the sp's bills during this time either. they dont mention they pay sp $200 do they? that came up in a comment i read. the comment was removed from the AE article about the show on their site. hey dont show te ones who refuse help as well because it isnt good tv. not only would they be outed to frends or neighbours even if blurred my guess is a few of them also get arrested. the show is a gift to LE
10. also some SWers have criminal records from solicitation charges and i imagine part of licensing is going to be a background check they cannot pass. the gov decided to refuse to expunge records related to criminal charges they got under old laws. this will then allow antis to claim "legalization" failed here because they can point at how some SWs are working illegally and must be trafficked. many complaints about some countries are actually due to laws and regulations that do not take into account how SWs who are not street and are indy actually work. which tends to be why new zealands model is unique in how well it works.
11. and if you tell a guy who is asking for certain type of pics or more pics "no" you often get a similar reply like above " if you want my biz" threat in other words. and while some sps are green enough to comply at first eventually they wise up to this game. eithr that or the ones sending out nudes and face pics may not be the sp herself but someone runing her who could care less about what is being done with those pics. something to consider
12. actually ig someone short notice you like this tell thm you need 15 minutes give them only eiher cross streets or te uilding address noting else. make them phone you voice to voice for more. one tip is donot put your full location in writng if possible. and do not see anyone who refuses to talk to you. a lot of texts can get lost too. dont assume they received them al. a phone call cant mistake the info given. some gys get off on the idea of making you wai knowing yey arent serios. no idea why. dont give tem any info about your location until they call back saying hey are in a location you sent them to. also cancelations are a good thing it means someone took the tme to tell you they arent coming. what you are seeing is no shows and address collectors.
13. meet the affected people? i wonder what that means to her since it meant zip to the person she asked to look into it
14. they had such little interest in anything about what shold be done they didnt ven find out what was bring done in diffeyent cities already that was effective. escort licenses and MA i parlour licensing or cities actually issuing bodyrub licenses or VPD working on a harm rrduction policy that involved sitting down wih sex workes groups and so on. i th ink this is why so many cities have announced they dont plan to enforce...enforcement means in some cases throwing out effective policies
15. That's always been illegal tho, now it is illegal for different reasons I guess. What i have never figured out is the arrogance and blatant law breaking by many agencies, in the agency towns. It's like they don't even know that it was and has always been illegal for them to advertise (i.e. procure, live off the avails, run or be in a bawdy house) sp services. Escort services, time/company, yes, but the ones made me LOL when they announce (to the media no less) the big changes on their sites or ads. I'm like, well, you know...... i have no idea why they were doing it in the first place. Same with providing incalls locations, it's crazy. The reason the micro (the asian setups who use people working illegally on travel visas etc) get busted is because of their blatant ads and providing incalls. It's like an LE gift, all wrapped up, with a minimum of 6 people to arrest and 20 to deport. In Montreal recently, RCMP announces 'rescuing' 500 socalled victims, when they raided 16 shops and charged 6 people. I'm like, again, yeah, and....? it's not like these places were hiding, not from client or LE. LE runs around every couple of years, one city or another, and sweeps in, makes themselves look like they are doing important work, then 3 months later, the ad sites are flooded again with the same people or their replacements.
16. These people got 192K from Harper/Mckay, i believe the announcement indicated it is the first of the 20million given out http://www.lacles.org/ Stella Montreal got exactly nothing. I don't read French so no idea what they are promising, but the one pic tells me this is an abolition group. Whether they have any real services would be for someone who can read it better than I. I have not heard of a single rescue organization that does or can do more than hand out information or take a phone call report. The idea of them is to provide info to sex workers by telling them who can (maybe) actually help them. One thing we are also seeing is more and more sps assaulted and robbed by small gangs, since C36. I don't think it is a coincidence. If you consider some good clients naturally drop out of seeing sps, that leaves, as expected, sps still needing more appts, so what could sound great (2 guys paying more than what she's normally getting from one), ends up being her undoing. Saying yes when before December she would have said no.
17. i have to agree with cc, because age is just a number. In my ads when i can i specify 'mature'. I am not talking about a specific age or age range, but a mature attitude. Whether someone is 20 or 80, they can either be an arrogant jacka$$ or a gentleman. I'll see the gentlemen, whether they happen to also be 20, or 80, doesn't matter to me. For the OP, i am guessing it has already been mentioned, but my advice to anyone who is concerned about their age, just choose sps or MAs who are 35 plus. I think mentally you would be more comfortable, and if that sp/MA also has a few extra pounds, even more so. one thing you will notice they have in common is self confidence, even when they aren't 20 or perfect any more, and that confidence will rub off on you, in more ways than one :)
18. I don't necessarily think the client 'needs' an agency, but the sps who choose to work via an agency do. And by extension, actually the client relies on the agency for 'consistency' and 'no surprises'. He may not have seen the newest addition to the agency, but he can rely on the agency that the sp is not going to be a scammer or no show. He is banking on his history with that agency to help him make a decision. He could go to the ad sites and find someone that way, but then he has to do his own research, screening, and it will still be a gamble. He eliminates his gambling by going back to the same agency (or agencies). Of course the sp benefits because she is not dealing with the day to day business or booking or screening, she can (hopefully) rely on the agency to ensure her safety. As an sp, she may not feel confident that she can do this for herself. I know some sps repeat the same booking mistakes over and over, and i can never figure out why (something like not verifying an address actually exists, or call back a # used to book an appt to ensure it is not spoofed), and then there is the backup/support/safety of having a business behind you, someone 3rd party who knows who you are with, for how long, etc.
19. The first camp is also able to support their claims about clients by referring to review sites. Even tho reviewers are a small percent of the clients sps see, and the nasty trash talking reviewers are an even smaller percent of that, these are the places where the anti's go to get 'proof' to use against the clients. And by extension, against sex work itself. From those, they have created websites and anti sex work promotional articles to further their agenda to stop sex work, because after all, they have really horrific examples to hold up as proof. They get to say 'in their own words' referring to why 'johns' don't care about sps, and how and why they (clients) would never lift a finger to help one, let alone report to LE if they suspected someone was working against their will, just so long as they get off. And as cc says, they'd be right, because there is a hardcore group of guys, usually the loudest, or frequent posters, or whatever, all just feeding info to the abolitionists. They make our jobs to educate or reeducate the general public or even a fence sitter that much harder, because of course, those guys don't care if someone is forced, or given drugs to work, or underage, their biggest concern is that she didn't appear enthusiastic. I was looking for a recent article to show what I mean, but i can't find it or the key words to search for it. :( in any case, you've seen it all before, i'm sure, that's why you are not on a review site, you are here on cerb.
20. All of them. Unless mocking sports has become a sport? Lost even more interest in them when the Olympics started allowing professional athletes on Olympic teams. And synchonized swimming, of course. :)
21. i always think the same thing every time i see the title lol
22. You won't get into any legal trouble if you choose to walk away. I'm not sure why you would even consider that to be a condition to stay where you don't want to be. I mean the law is about staying & paying, really, so not staying and not paying, seems pretty simple lol there are a ton of 'how to walk away gracefully and politely' regardless of the reason, and roamingguy has hit every point that any client should follow. As an sp, I'd rather someone gives me a percentage of the fee and decline to stay, come up with a lame excuse if necessary, than to 'go thru with it' with both reluctance and the accompanying negative attitude. if it is a fee change on arrival, then no compensation, no reason to stay, no lame or polite reason necessary. You can just say that wasn't the agreed rate, so sorry, i'm going to have to pass. I know that if a client shows up and decides for any reason he's not going to pay the fee that i gave him over the phone, I show him the door. I tell him that his making the appt meant that he was agreeing to the rate that i quoted, it wasn't up to him to change it. I didn't agree to any discount in making the appt, in other words.
23. http://www.theprovince.com/news/Surrey+pleads+guilty+deaths+escorts/10941866/story.html
A Surrey man charged in the deaths of a man and two female escorts entered a guilty plea this week, investigators announced Thursday. Sarbjit Bains, 34, pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of manslaughter in the death of Amritpal Saran, and two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of Jill Lyons and Karen Nabors, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team. â??This guilty plea is a testament to the commitment and professionalism with which this investigation was conducted,â? said Supt. Dwayne McDonald, officer in charge of IHIT. â??The commitment of the members of IHIT, New Westminster Police Department and the support units who assisted in this investigation has led to this successful conclusion and the assurance that the public is safe from this individual.â? In February 2013, Saran was found dead on Colebrook Road in Surrey. Then in August that same year, Lyons was found dead in her New Westminster apartment. Just over a week after the discovery of Lyonsâ?? body, Nabor was also found dead in her own apartment, inside the same building. Lyons and Nabor were friends, and both worked as escorts. Homicide investigators, working with New Westminster police, then identified Bains as a suspect. He was arrested on Jan. 3, 2014, and charged in the three deaths. His girlfriend, Evelina Urbaniuk, was also arrested that same day, and charged for indignity to Saranâ??s remains. Urbaniuk has since pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years less a day and three years probation. According to police sources, Bains dealt with girls for gangs, and provided a sort of pimp service. Saran was known to police and believed to be one of Bainsâ?? customers, but itâ??s not known how or if he was connected to the other victims. â??The hard work done by the IHIT and NWPD investigators resulted in the timely apprehension of Mr. Bains,â? said Chief Const. Dave Jones. â??The guilty pleas entered this afternoon by Mr. Bains have validated that hard work and is another example of the value and effectiveness of integrated policing in investigating complex crimes such as homicides.â?
24. At least the prosecutors are appealing this decision. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/alberta/alberta-prosecutors-to-appeal-acquittal-in-cindy-gladue-murder-case/article23763166/ It's the right thing to do. It is tragic that this case was probably lost because they went for 1st degree murder, instead of something like manslaughter. She was a sex worker and indigenous, and the jury was 80% male, in Alberta (no offense) they were overly optimistic to think anyone was going to view this as a 1st degree murder. These guys don't do real time, they are lucky if a jury will convict them on an accidental or manslaughter charge.
25. I think we have to remember that these are the same people who claim that 90% of ALL sex workers want out of the business, and/or are forced/coerced and victims. It is the relabeling adult consensual sex workers as victims that the proponents of C36 used against us in the first place. If someone makes that claim, it automatically discredits any opposition to that claim later. You may not see any followup report from LE for example letting everyone know how many actual victims were forced to do sex work when they expected to be a domestic worker, for example. You won't see them report about how many underage sps they found either, since it is rare for actual younger sps to leave Asia for North American work (big complaints in reviews is that 22 year olds in ads are over 30 in person). To actually smuggle someone under 18, with passports and documentation of an older age would be far more complicated than simply making false passports and visas for someone in their 20s and 30s. Arranging travel for anyone under 18 is not that simple, and draws a lot more attention. It is very unlikely anyone would do this unless they were asking to be very closely inspected. What I think we might see is the local, the 20 year old, running the underage sex workers, but they'll report all in a group so you are led to believe there are children kidnaped and smuggled into Canada every day to perform sex work. The underage found tend to be coerced or actually lured by similar age citizens, as in the case of the 3 who attracted a 14 year old to leave home, then put her to work recently. http://globalnews.ca/video/1862141/14-year-old-girl-rescued-in-human-trafficking-arrests
