SP seeking advice from other SPs
fortunateone replied to xxxAxxx's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
It is government logic. Premise A: Govt plans to shut down all prostitution by eliminating all advertising (because they know that no ads means no sex workers). Premise B: Govt knows it will get flak from voters if they have any legislation that criminalizes anything done by any sex worker, including any self advertising (which includes standing on street corner) Conclusion by govt: create a law that will make criminals out of all Canadian advertising venues (online and paper advertising) if they accept money from any sex worker to publish her ads Results: sex workers will have no place that can legally accept her paying them to publish to her legal ads, therefore all prostitution will come to a screeching halt because no client will be able to find a sex worker. Ever. Solution: sps now write ads that do not advertise their sexual services. Advertising sites and papers happily can take her $$ to publish her ads. Clients benefit because they will also not be contacting/solicitating the services of sex workers for advertised sexual services, they will be contacting an escort for time/companionship services, or a massage provider for massage services. Side benefit: Govt happy because they are the first country in the world to eradicate and stop all sex work!! And we can tell, because there are no sp ads anymore. And sp ads are used to determine the number of underage sps (because their photos 'look' underage) or trafficked sps (because they 'traveled" from Ottawa to Toronto, therefore must be trafficked). Thus, all abolitionist groups will be out of work, nothing to see, nothing to do, no one to rescue. -
Someone is using my pics ..what should I do
fortunateone replied to Hannah Star's topic in Escort Discussion for Niagara
I wouldn't bother contacting the advertiser, there is a good chance she doesn't post her own ads, and whoever is posting is already OK with the stealing of photos, so it seems like a waste of time. If you have a website, report the offending ad to backpage, go to their contact form, and fill in the necessary info. Include the link to your website, to your photos there as proof the photos are yours and/or include the link to your existing ads from your bp account and your cerb account to provide the necessary proof. Chances are really good bp will simply delete the photos from her ad without a lot of investigation. They are very pro active about copyright protected photos, and avoid potential law suits, imo, so just reporting with evidence will get the results, and faster than trying to contact the photo thief, and with far less potential repercussions of contacting the photo thief. -

It will affect everyone, but my guess is that the impact will be felt more by agencies and massage parlours. They are the targets of C36, considered to be the exploiter/pimps of sps. However, LE are the final decision makers as to who, if anyone, and how they plan to enforce any new legislation. For example, Edmonton has a method that works for them, maybe they will simply apply a new C36 law to what they find more important. Vancouver LE has a no harm to sps, which probably includes not harassing their workplaces (mps and agencies), in fact they don't have anything to do with the nationwide Operation Nothern Spotlight farce, and Edmonton uses the ONS to focus solely on traveling sps who may be literally trafficked/forced. Each LE is going to do something different, and my guess is that Winnipeg LE have always seemed to leave your massage parlour owners and workers alone, so that probably won't change. -
SP seeking advice from other SPs

I've never posted a list of services, and never posted rates for such services. The closest i've ever gotten was on a more permissive escort ad site where i put down what I do not provide, such as bbbjs, quickies for example. sps never used to post ads with menus, it would be considered against the law for the longest time, misinterpreted as public solicitation, and correctly interpreted as admission of an illegal bawdy house (INCALLs), and we got along just fine until the internet and the less informed advdertisers started up with complete menus, options, times/rates, etc. it has gotten to the point that sps without menus/rates/times would be penalized by certain types of clients for making them make a phone call to ask about the rates lol. so they don't call anyone without the info. i am waiting to see what those types of control freaks are going to do in the future if all advertisers go under the assumption that posting services in ads are forbidden. The conflict here is that it would not be illegal to post all that info, as an sp you can advertise your own sexual services. The confusion is running towards what effect doing so could potentially have on clients who contact your ad. Realistically, I can't see any enforcement policies that could possibly be applied to take your ad and link it to a certain client in order to charge him with something. However, the common consensus is that it will or could be, therefore the clients are warned to only contact sps who do not post this info in their ads, and do not discuss such info in text or emails. In any event, i won't change what i have been doing with advertising, because as i say i have never done that in the first place. Also, when you consider some ad sites, that info is not allowed anyway, so just use something like your back page ad as your guide. -
Maybe I Spoke Too Soon...
fortunateone replied to drlove's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
it is very possible it is an exact replica of what happened before: phone died, not paid for, etc. I would stick to one text or phone call daily until it resolves itself, and keep in mind that i assume this is midterm time. as a student paying a phone bill may not always be as easy as for someone who is working. also, my friend has issues with her sim card. Many times trying to reach her, able to leave a message, but there is no ringing, it goes right to vm. texts don't come thru, they arrive only when she is able to reset her phone, which is not easily done. Buying a new one is not going to happen anytime soon. -

i think if there is no contact, there's no contact. I noticed some referrals to lap dances, that is contact so it was mentioned that would possibly qualify as a sexual service. Whether it does or not remains to be seen. The adult entertainment industry has the benefit of money, business licenses, zoning and organization, if it comes to that, they could be among the first to challenge C36. Which is a good thing. All complaints are out the window if the SC allows sexual services in the private rooms, tho, and this does indeed happen in various places in the country. -
Cashless $ociety?
fortunateone replied to oldblueeyez's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
There are a number of reasons why the world wont' be cashless, and that would be due to the fact that a very large percentage of the world's population don't have bank accounts, are unlikely to ever have one, and live from what they can put together from poorly paid occupations. And this isn't just in the developing countries, but there are many reasons why there are so many cheque cashing services, more of those than banks. many low income or no income social assistant folks can't get a bank account, so are unlikely to have debit cards to become cashless :) -
Lyla users and their pets

A couple of birds, both found outside, one feisty and the other ill or injured. Pigeon (white with dalmation markings), was ill but clearly someone's backyard bred bird. Budgie most likely just decided to fly out the window and do his own thing one day. -
I remember with the other online petition that it was super slow getting people singing, even with the attention on various sites. At that time very few people were interested in the topic, let alone ensuring that the govt didn't come up with exactly what they came up with. maybe had there been 10% of that 500,000 people someone claims is on review sites in Canada, it would have had an impact. That only 1900 or so did sign it, tells a big story about the numbers used to show us on these forums. http://www.change.org/p/the-honourable-peter-mackay-say-no-to-the-nordic-model-and-yes-to-decriminalization-of-sex-work-in-canada

Not every client is a serial client, flitting from one sp to the next on a weekly basis. It might happen, but chances are someone's references are going to 'expire' or be with an sp who simply is under the radar and/or refuses to provide references or who might simply be a part time sp who puts the ad up only as long as it takes to get a single appt, then she is done for the month. A client who sees someone like that might indeed be looking for a regular he can actually see on a regular not random basis. The reference might be vague and weak, but he should be able to give out a little more than a name. He should be able to say he saw her Oct 10, and contacted her by email thru her CL ad, which was posted on Oct 9, followed by getting a phone call from her blocked # to make the final arrangements. But if he is new, he may have to be handheld thru the process, knowing for next time if he does see you, it won't be so painful for him to be able to provide a reference for the next sp. :)

Bill C-36 (winnipeg's opinion)
fortunateone replied to Zoe Zee's topic in Escort Discussion for Winnipeg
Well that's the problem with C36, as mentioned a few times. The fact that it may be illegal for EC to accept payment in exchange for an sp to post an ad does not make it illegal for the sp to post OR pay for the ad. The sp is not responsible for the risks the 2nd part is taking by taking her money to post her ads, and she is also not legally liable for those risks in any way. she is also not conspiring in any way with EC by paying them to publish any ads that she is legally allowed to post. is there a logical way to explain this? no. because it is not logical. -
I'm not sure why she's 'surprised' the company found her. She recently moved, she recently posted a few things that happened to her, and so she gave them all the info they really needed to find her. I wish everyone who posts defamatory illegal comments who received a Cease and Desist letter were as quick to comply as she was. It would go a long way to sending a message to those who post defamatory comments that it needs to stop. They could also have contacted the site where she posted the comments, to remove them. Those sites would be liable as well for allowing them had she not removed them herself. Like Keenan is quoted as saying:

i will say don't worry about EC, it is an advertising site, not an agency or a 3rd party poster. You submit the ad to EC, therefore you are the one posting the ad, not EC. -
Why are you so ready to believe she actually did maintain and keep any kind of list? I don't know what the protocol on agencies is outside of Vancouver, but city biz licensing requires agencies to have full client details recorded and saved for a period of time. Record keeping is a requirement of that business that does not seem to be required of other types of businesses, for example. old story http://www.walnet.org/csis/news/toronto_99/torstar-991007.html

Safety - How do you all stay safe?
fortunateone replied to FunAdventures's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
My addition, is that since discussing services etc in public settings is illegal, you are opening yourself up to a potential for charges. Further, you are allowing him to control this set up, meaning that once you set up a public meeting, he is free to tweet out to 20 of his closest friends, one of whom is in the corner filming the entire encounter to put it on youtube. Non appt public meetings are unnecessary. If you feel wary enough to even consider having to meet someone first, then simply decline the appt. There is such a thing as bad money. -
It's still included in the services page, and the ph# still there. I know that many clients don't read sites and ads fully, they might use the agency without realizing that is a service, but who does this other than someone who is exploiting/coercing sps or taking advantage possibly of new to biz or underage sps who don't know what they are doing. Considering it is an agency, advertising sexual services, and that is currently illegal, there is no reason why someone local to HFX can't report them to LE.

Anticipated changes due to Bill C-36

Also, as has been explained to these guys MANY times, what is LE hold on the sp? she can legally advertise, she can legally host incalls, so what exactly does he think can be held over her head as a potential threat in order to cooperate with LE to do this? This is a level of paranoia and fear mongering that has absolutely no place in this discussion or in the terms of the C36 itself This kind of paranoia is designed to create issues now for all the established sps as well as any new ones, imo, and completely pointless and without merit. -
you would see someone who calls you 'hunnie"? or shortcuts 'you'? I would say j/k, but i'm seriously not just kidding. imo, an sp should take as much time and care and attention with her replies as you are doing for her. it shows a level of professionalism and awareness of how she is presenting herself to someone who is contacting her for the very first time. Which means if the reply is only going to be 3 or 4 words, she can certainly take the time to spell out 'you' and 'see'. I totally agree that your texts should be detailed, and that you need to say hi, and not do a bunch of serial texting. Put the info you want her to know in the first text. And it should go without saying don't send a text if her ad says 'no texts'. :)

Cerb vs. Terb vs. Perb vs. Merb
fortunateone replied to LisbethNova's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
And what is interesting about this comment is that it is presumed and assumed that trash talking is not just permitted, but encouraged on all the other sites, even the ones promoted as most friendly lol. It should be noted that p/t/m erbs are all the same board admin/owner. If they are communicating amongst each other, that should not really be a big surprise, after all. p erb is simply t erb for out west. Same guy to be contacted if you want to send a message to the admin. This site is what it is due to moderation. no one is undoing the moderator/admin mandates, or permitting hostility. This kind of moderation goes a long way in explaining why certain types of people, who are active on all those other sites, show up here and either leave shortly after, or rarely participate. When you are an aggressive, trollish, baiting, lying, trash talking poster, you have no place on this site. And that is the number one reason you will find more sps participating on this site over any other, regardless of any amount of business they might get. I've seen a dozen of the sps who are very active members of cerb, never or rarely posting on even their own reviews on other sites. That alone tells a big story. Guys come here because if they post a good review, they get a thank you from other guys and from sps. They do the same post elsewhere, they get trashed and attacked. Not exactly hard to figure out the differences, or the reasons why this site tends to have more active members. -
I'm not sure if you are saying that you prepay an appointment or a deposit for an appt, and the sp doesn't show up, or if you are just talking about a prebooked appt and the lady doesn't show up. In the first case, then all means and methods you approach the sp and between the two of you, privately figure out a way to resolve the issue. if it does not get resolved, ask if the info can be provided in the warnings section. meghan has good advice there: never give a down payment to an sp with no reputation. In the 2nd case, if an sp doesn't show up and you haven't spent any money ahead of time, there is no real reason to expect any sort of discount, deal or refund. This is because as the paying customer, her not showing up doesn't actually cost you any money, in fact you get to keep all your money, and didn't waste it on someone who doesn't show up, explain, or try to resolve this with you for a later appt. Sophia has good advice: sometimes stuff happens, and it is completely out of the sp's control. A reputable sp will contact you (if it is possible, because she won't just phone you, she would email or pm you), and apologize, explain, and while she isn't obliged to offer incentive, she might regardless. Not to be expected of course, and definitely not to be demanded. Real examples of stuff happens: phone dies, phone drops into the sink, phone is stolen by previous customer along with any $$ she had, previous client runs overtime and she can't diplomatically find a way to get him to leave, sp gets evicted from her hotel without warning due to the nature of her business there. i assure you, in many of these cases a good sp may want to have been able to contact you, but is obviously unable to do that in time.
