  1. Reply goes at the bottom, because that's where I am after I read the message. If it gets to replying to a reply, I delete the older messages, and reply only to the most recent one if it looks like it might get messy.
  2. Agencies can't operate without a license, but what happens in the massage parlours is that the attendants also get a license. IT costs a great deal less than if they went for an indy license. Here's the other mp names: Temptations Massage, Legends and Studio 118 A reliable agency for traveling sps out of Victoria (going by my memory lol) is EGFE run by SweetVIPs in Victoria and also TNACalgary I think it is. Certainly there are traveling sps who visit the area and independents there as well.
  3. Your best defense against the b&s and legit or not is simply choosing to see someone who has a verifiable reputation. You mention websites, but most sps have advertisements that you will see before you see a website. there are a number of clues in ads that show how serious the lady is about her business, her professionalism and providing a good experience. You should see a HUGE difference in an ad written by someone who cares about the impression they are making and one who does not.
  4. Maybe they turn to escorting so they can stop having to have sex without protection? Getting paid to have uncovered sex (considering the # of HIV postive scares in the industry), vs getting paid a similar amount of $$ for covered sex, not hard to make that choice. Interesting how the quoted person makes it sound like there is a difference between getting paid to be filmed having sex vs getting paid to have sex lol.
  5. For the Edmonton area, rather than agencies, you should consider going to one of the massage parlours. All offer full service (with or without gfe), rates are fairly standard I believe in the 260-300/hr range. I am not sure agencies are as well thought of as the mps. The only one I can remember is Revive. In Edmonton you always want to make sure you are seeing licensed independents or going to mps. Licensed escorts will have their # in their ads, mp sps are all licensed.
  6. re: templates. I've only seen templates used on one site, it being a review site, and its sole purpose was to reduce the experience into an easily searchable tool for menu items, like a checklist the thing lists daty, price, age, bbbj, etc etc. I think it was so tedious to fill out many reviewers disliked it, and so "listy" it took away the voice of the reviewer and away from the experience for the sp by too much "sameness". re: ads and not being able to bump or reply in them, but posting new ones. imo, I am loving the new sites that have a bump and/or renew feature. I do not have to re enter the info, or create new things each and every day. I go, click bump, and gone. In addition, instead of me (after one month) having 30-60 ads posted (assuming I do the 2 a day one every 12 hours), I only have one in constant rotation. This makes it simpler for anyone viewing ads as well. Instead of scrolling past the ads already seen, you simply scroll down the page and all the ads are from different advertisers because all the advertisers (hopefully) are bumping their ads not posting new ones. New ads postings gives an illusion of quantity and choices that really aren't there. re: recos. It's my opinion that the sp in the reco should be allowed to thank the reviewer, and add a comment if she likes. I doubt very much if such a comment is going to significantly "bump" the reco to the top, since she will most likely post her thank you within 24 hours of it being posted. I'm sure there will be the rare occasion where she is unable to post her thankyou for a week or so, but I kind of doubt it. I think it is a shame the sp cannot thank the poster, since she's met him and had the same good time, but random other people, some of whom have never seen her but just giving out a random comment, have the ability to "bump" it lol. I don't see that as a question of fairness, tho, just good manners and good business. A reco should receive a thank you comment from the sp, if the reco is a recommendation, who could possibly object to having the lady thank them?
  7. Still off topic, but no, the Nordic system is not going to give you what you want. Sex workers now are free to report crimes like assault, they can and they do. But, an sp victimized by a pimp is rarely going to be the one to do this. She isn't afraid of the clients, she's afraid of what he's going to do to her. And he will do something, make no mistake about it. She also isn't going to have the freedom to report the clients. Plus, whether the client participated or not, the Nordic model isn't going to differentiate between ones who do and do not. It assumes guilt of violence on all of them, in that prostitution is violence against women. Is being associated as a violent offender something that you would wish upon yourself or others? Because that is the assumption and stigma due to the Nordic setup. The example is one where the sp is forced by a pimp. There are already laws to deal with this that are clearly ineffective. They aren't unused tho, as I do know of a recent case of a guy out East charged with, among other things, forcing an underage sp to work. She reported him as well for forcing her to do bbfs appts. Since she was 17 at the time of reporting, it made even more charges easy to be laid. There are lots of laws already in place to deal with criminal activities, I don't see any reason to penalize the majority of law abiding citizens to deal with the minority of deviants.
  8. I'm not sure the example itself makes me uncomfortable. One sp post availability for another within her own ad, to me, kind of sounds like the sp B is not in a position to create an account at this time, but probably will as soon as they can get set up. In the meantime, they appreciate that someone else is able/willing to make an announcement for them. That same person is also going to receive pms, possibly emails. The big thing is that no real deception is taking place. Several sps share space, get to know each other, help each other out. It would be a different spin if a non-sp member were to post such an announcement, I think.
  9. And in some cases advertising or providing BBFS is a sign of a number of other issues the sp has: she may be mentally ill or deficient, alcoholic/drug addict, infected (therefore nothing to catch). Or she may be using it as a lure because she is a thief, and no services will ever be provided, but the money will be taken. There aren't too many educated, sane, and sober sps who are going to be providing this, no matter what the financial gain (if any) is.
  10. 1. You don't have to see everyone who wants to see you. 2. There is such a thing as "bad" money. 3. You don't have to do things you don't want to. Stay firm with your boundaries. Bad dates look for vulnerability and new sps who are green and may not have safety protocols in place and/or may knuckle under pressure. A bad date may not be rude or violent, but he may be pushy and make you feel like you really do not have a choice but to relax a restriction or lower a rate. He may suggest you get paid after the date, then come up short or empty. Don't let anyone know you are brand new, you should avoid the predators. As far as danger goes, well it might happen, but you are far more likely to be ripped off, short changed, or pushed into a service you charge more for or giving a discount, or a service you don't want to provide.
  11. Some sps don't have a place to work out of, so going back to such an mp would be the only option they can see. I agree, all of the workers are going to have to stand together, and force the owner to eliminate the fines system altogether. The owner of the mp is already getting a room fee and they should simply have to deal with their expenses that way. There are some agencies that actually pay sps to sign on with them, so these days of indentured servitude here are pretty archaic. Also, in the past, it wasn't as simple as it is today to post your own ads, with pics, for little or nothing and be independent. These owners need to make their places more attractive, not less. When the current lineup gathers together and refuses to take calls that day, en masse, it shows up in the bottom line for everyone. It needs to be a partnership, not a battle ground. In NZ, these kinds of setups are totally illegal, the owners would face either being shut down or heavy fines. However, the workers would not have to put up with it in the first place and/or would not hesitate to report them. It is pretty difficult to report when the activity taking place is illegal. For the front desk, I would suggest the owner pay someone to be there. That would be an incentive, someone will want to remain at the front rather than penalize everyone if no one is there. An extra 20/hour for the one who volunteers would probably keep the desk occupied. Now if someone isn't ready for their shift (not wearing makeup on arrival) or late, I don't think there is any need for a fine. That sp is going to learn soon enough she will miss opportunties and appts because she is not there to take them. Same with missed days, lost income is incentive enough to show up and on time. Fining someone doesn't make as much sense as making them do all the laundry and room cleanups for that day. They will soon learn to be on time, call in when sick, and be prepared.
  12. It seems unnecessarily complicated, with the sole purpose to negotiate a discount?
  13. I rarely see ads with "no restrictions" but when I do it seems fairly clear based on the style of the ad, or other 'red flag" indicators that it is code for offering bbfs. It may be due to them being undereducated about it, or that it is common enough where they are from, or it is a way of getting that extra 20 or 50, or because they are new (probably underage) and don't have clue one about what it is referring to. I do know that there will be a considerable number of guys who read that and also assume it is an offer for bbfs, and that there will be trouble if they show up and it is not part of the menu. Having said that, there is another red flag set of clues where that phrase is used banking on the misunderstanding to get these guys to the door, the guys seeking bbfs and being disappointed when the sp says of course not, that's not what that meant. Knowing all the time that it was going to attract that guy, classic b&s tho the red flags I am talking about include all the clues of classic b&s as well.
  14. I agree. A lot of people seem to be posting as tho it was a no show on a confirmed appt, due to what the OP telling us he prepared for an appt. However at NO time did the sp confirm an appt, she only said she would get back to him the day before if she could do it. She did not promise to get back to him if she couldn't, fwiw. Given his followup email, it would have been a nice/polite thing for her just to repeat that she couldn't see him after all, but as I say, she wasn't really obligated to repeat with an email the obvious, and what she already told him prior to the day. And at that point, she might be saying to herself, what the heck is he emailing for?? That's why I'm not really following the strike one, off the list, name names, demand an explanation, or what have you. I don't think she could have been clearer: she would confirm if she can make it. She will not confirm if she cannot. She did not confirm, therefore she cannot make it. Its just A + B = C logic lol.
  15. cerb's worst day is still better than any review board's best day, imo. When I found this site, it was like a breath of fresh air, frankly. Plus, GLEE is back so everything's all sunshine and slushies anyway. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WxPyUzWSPA&feature=related
  16. I am all for finding ways to reduce harm to SWs, for sure. (being of the opinion that sex work of itself is not what is harming SWs, but it is helping to enable them to continue in harmful behaviour by making drugs affordable? And once affordable, no incentive to not use them).
  17. I wouldn't think Winnipeg has any licensed mps. I know Vancouver issues a body rub license which allows naughty touching, and I think some Ontario cities actually have a similar license which a lot more mps have than in Van. But I hadn't heard any other actual city providing this type of city issued license. Licensed or not, most mps get visited by LE on a monthly basis, usually checking IDs of employees for underage and legal workers, even if they aren't admitting its about the sex work that takes place there.
  18. Usually if one is having a bad day in real time, having a happy client come by brightens the mood for sure. Or sometimes just having someone else come by who is not in the best of health or having a much harder time, or maybe they are just always upbeat and optimistic. All these things, even just interacting with someone else and human contact helps elevates your own moods.
  19. If I understand the initial post, there was a tentative maybe set for today, but before that she would be contacting you to confirm. Since she did not do that at all, there actually was no appt set up. She didn't have to cancel, because there was nothing confirmed. It is a mixed signal communication issue, and i think if you look at it again with fresh eyes you will see what I mean. Altho it might have been nice for her to get back to you prior to today to say that she definitely cannot do today, she wasn't under any obligation to do so. I think that you both already set it up well enough: if she could see you she would be in contact. She was not in contact, she couldn't see you. I can't see any reason for the additional comments by others here about professionalism or manners tho.
  20. Thank you for all that, it's really nice of y'all to notice. 1000 posts and GLEE is on today, so really a banner day!!
  21. I find it very hard to believe that the city of Vancouver has anywhere near 1000, let alone up to 2000 outdoor sex workers. For me, the tone of the article is "save the hos", not balanced, and no understanding of the reality of pursuing a legal way to earn a living. No differentiation between what would drive a street worker vs a massage parlour worker vs an agency worker vs an indoor worker (assuming independent), all in need of saving from exploitation, housing, given a good job (because none of us could possibly have left good jobs to do this), and, of course, drug rehab. I am not sure what the article writer has in mind, but I am pretty sure her idea of a suitable "affordable" housing is quite different from what I am perfectly able to afford right now, by working in a way that I have chosen to work.
  22. I use some of them unique curiosities called "condoms". I don't mind you sharing with others my 'secret weapon" for avoiding "catching" something and/or "spreading" it around. There's a health section I think, and some links to std information about transmission, etc. fwiw, you can't wash one away with soap and water, before or after appts.
  23. You might want to find an ad or site for Kara Doll too.
