  1. Places that use this (edmonton/calgary) sell specific escort licenses as a part of city bylaws. The sp can get a lower cost one that permits her to work in a massage parlour or with an agency, or an independent one. It, like any other business license, requires formal application, filling out a form, producing identification as proof of age, and under what name (or names) she will be working. Failure to have a license and she will be subject to a fine, which is usually about the same amount it would have cost her to buy the license in the first place. I think the main drawback of city issued licenses are they are area specific and for residents only; many sps prefer to be able to travel and work, and it would be nice if there was an option for this. That would be primarily to avoid getting fined by city bylaw officers for working without a license that is. In NZ, an escort does not necessarily have to get a license if she is working from home for instance, from what i remember. People who want to open a massage parlour or agency or have an incall with more than 4 sps have to undergo a criminal check. I doubt if that is required here.
  2. No, and the further problem is they could care less. I think it was pretty nice of this guy to reply to you at all, but it is exactly the same info I have heard told to various clients and who have provided the info about this elsewhere. And the clients who are fans of the asian style not only don't care, but they are seen to actively promote and support the b&s with good reviews, and rarely in a good review do they make much if any issue about the fake age, fake photo, etc. I can't tell you how many guys end up posting their disgust at the reviewers who promote these micros, sending them off to a place based solely on few restrictions and low prices, yet not bothering to mention that everything else about the ad is a big fat lie. It isn't exactly news that a guy is more likely to book an appt with a 22 year old, slender and pretty sp. And that picturing and advertising a 33 year old with a few extra pounds will get fewer bookings. But using that as an excuse is over the top, imo.
  3. Thx, WiT. I see there is a strict and specific policy re: pimping, and was also unsure what it was that made secret admirer think that the NZ regulations were so liberal as to allow pimping. Pimping is not soley linked to someone who benefits from the money made by a sex worker, but taking all of the income made, coercing or forcing her to perform the work, and denying her access to money or the decision to work or not as well. I can see nothing in the regulations at all that indicate or imply that they encourage pimping, in fact the liberalization and regulation of the industry shines a brighter light on the workers. It is hard to hide behind a sex worker there, I believe. Also just living with a sex worker, in the same home, does not make someone a pimp. Could be a dependent child, a parent, a relative, a sister, a brother, an SO, etc. The laws recently overturned do not make that distinction, and technically do not allow a sex worker to have a family, room mates, friends, dependents, the very simple things that anyone else in the country is permitted by law to have. The people in her life, who live with her, could be charged. Also, in NZ, they do have policies to assist leaving the industry, and EI benefits, I believe.
  4. I had a few points, but don't want to quote everyone. For the OP, tho, I ask "why not" for New Zealand's approach. NZ had legal prostitution confined by laws that were almost exactly the same as the ones in Canada, recently overturned. NZ has a similar culture to Canada (well, more so than even the US lol), as well as a certain respect for unions/collectives/coops. They decriminalized prostitution and came up with policy and regulations to abide by, including licensing, owner/managers, brothel/massage parlour rules, even health and safety policies, all with the direct input and cooperateion of the NZ sex workers coalition, working girls. I have looked at their site, and read the entire related OHS manual, and took a look at the new vs old laws, as well as visited adultforum . co .nz, a site similar to this one based in NZ. I cannot think of any reason why what they have accomplished could not be applied to Canada. They do not have the window shopping of the Netherlands, nor the buffet style brothel of Germany, but much more similar to our style of massage parlour, agency and independents working from home either alone or with one or two others sharing space. A need for discretion and privacy is still required when working from home or from a parlour. A need for discretion still preferred by sps advertising. And a need to address the issue of street workers, who still exist in spite of the legality, the ease of which they can work from home or for an agent, etc. But there is also a genuine respect for the owner/managers of the places they work in, no one can be forced to see a client, no one can be fined for refusing to see a client who comes in, no one can be threatened by the owner/manager. It also deals really well with foreign workers coming in and obviously non-NZ residents cannot be employed or work. It is not all flowers and sunshine, I am sure, but respecting the worker's right to decide where they want to work, and how they want to work is important. I think also someone mentioned about the living off the avails applies to family members. It does I think if they are 18 and over, and there is a case where an adult male child was charged with being in a bawdy house, and an SO was charged the same plus living off the avails. Or at least an attempt to charge was made, with the implication being they intimidated the sp into allowing herself to be charged rather than fight the charges in court? Admit the guilt in exchange for the freedom of her family. Well, the entire issue could easily be taken on as a charter issue too, which would be a good step for a different province.
  5. Yes, that is my POV too. I believe that bullies/harrassers/stalkers need to be held accountable not just for what they are doing that crosses the legal line, but the consequences of those actions. Empathy prevents people from doing this; technology seems to give them an "out" or excuse. And the technological ability to take bullying to a whole new level makes some think it is ok. But there are consequences, and just as if a student was face to face bullied in the past which often led to depression and suicide, now the bullying is broadcast into a whole new level of shame. I don't think it is enough to say that these people didn't realize the severity of their actions; they full well knew the possibilities. They are not 12 years old, they are adults, and by this time should have had some sense of decency and humanity. They chose this path, and it was not only illegal it was immoral and they deserve to be charged. Based on their own actions, they deserve to have a record on this, and the bonus might be that someone else out there will think twice before doing the same thing, so many as well they will be charged to serve as a lesson, but that is what charging people is about anyway: punish the guilty and warn those who are thinking about doing the same thing.
  6. "Thank you" About 2 dozen times within a half hour, before, during and after. It made me feel very special and appreciated.
  7. This was posted on another site, and I am sure susi doesn't have time to copy on all the sites, so here you go.
  8. I have had the same thing happen. Actually had this site crash on me earlier this evening (I don't go into chat, thankfully lol) Was out for about an hour, right in the middle of changing a post which I don't think I can find now lol. I do feel that a thx etc is a good thing, especially when given something, but I have also been in the position of either stopping pming or sending off yet another pm which was already going back and forth and back and forth. So at what point do you just stop, if you know what I mean. I send info, someone says thanks, do I then say no problemo, or just let it alone? Is it rude to not reply even tho there is nothing to add? So maybe just for the record, if you are someone who followed up a pm with a thankyou note and I don't reply with a no problemo, it doesn't mean I am ignoring you, just not prolonging the inevitable ending to our private chat......
  9. I agree, plus Trojans are overpriced for what you get. However, as mentioned, we are kind of stuck with their Magnums for XLs. Lifestyles ultrasensitive or similar, the very thin whatever it is, seem stronger, and allow more sensation. Trojans smell nasty, and that is not a good thing for the aftereffects of fs. I have also tried the Durex Avanti Bare, and while they are great for more warmth and feeling, they do not taste so great. I have never tried Kimono, but always hear great things about them. I think also Crown.
  10. Sasha, you seem to be very isolated from information, in spite of the fact I know you have been on these sites and have had a lot of opportunity to network, get support, get advice, and find good information. These sites are here for more than just advertising so PLEASE utilize them for your safety too!! The reason I say this is that you state here that you expect the police to judge you, not take a threat on your life seriously, which is far from the case. They are not going to tell you that, and if you have further questions, please pm or contact susi on p.erb for assistance. To make a note of harrassing callers, even if they are block #, press *57. This alerts a trace and shows that you found the call harrassing. (you need to do this immediately of course) Next, you did place this info on 3 sites, and more likely the call came out of the p.erb post. I find the best defense is to get offensive, lol. You need to tell us exactly who is posting with your information. For one thing, it is up to you to alert everyone of the false pics, and ad info, because at some point someone is going to go see that sp, thinking she is you, and end up muddying your good reputation by posting a bad review. (I assume it will be a bad review, because clearly she is not the girl in the picture and the description is not her!!). But it might end up showing up with your name. So tell everyone, put it into Neighbourhood Watch, but you do need to provide the proof. If it is a picture, show the original picture and the one in the ad. For the ad text, show where you placed the ad first, and the copy. I had an sp right in my neighbourhood who copied my ad exactly, only changing the physical description. She was found out because someone got confused by her ad, thinking it was me, but having trouble matching the description. The second confusion was she was in an older 3 story walk up, not a more modern condo, which was in the ad lol. Another one copied my ad exactly, except she is younger and brunette. I called her up, pointed out that she might not wish to be connected with a blonde advertising a dozen years older. Fortunately she apologized, blamed someone else for taking the ad, and took them all down. I believed her as I had seen her ads before, and they were all quite a different style from mine up until the day she said she needed someone else to post for her. Also, you can contact abuse@ the name of the site.org and report it under copyright violation or as "posting your info without your consent", since your pics are being used.
  11. I think stopping the street stings would be a welcome thing. Since the whole concept is ridiculous anyway, considering the actual act of prostitution is legal, then setting up to target anyone soliciting (just talking about it in public) doesn't really help anyone. If the street workers are a nuisance, most cities have other laws in place to keep them moving along. And the guys, I am sure they can figure out something to keep them moving along. Even traffic infractions can work, like no stopping zones, etc. It seems like such a waste of resources and time, when they could be focusing on drunk drivers, speeders, dangerous drivers, etc.
  12. I know living off the avails sounds like it only applies to pimps, but it also applies to drivers/security (the people who can help assure the safety of an sp either onsite, nearby or transporting her and waiting for her appt), the manager of an mp or agency (someone who simply does her advertising, sets up appts, helps out, provides a space for her to work along with others), her adult children who live at home, her SO who lives with her (and may be out of work or unable to work), anyone she might wish to hire to assist her in her business. Many of these things actually help the sp stay safe, work efficiently, work safely, or just have a normal life like any other type of worker.
  13. I hope this site is helpful for the OP. The person running it posted on review sites (and CL I think), directing all clients to a survey, and then also volunteers for more indepth interviews (I am going by memory on the details, I just remember the posts, comments and discussion around it, then he came back when the results were tabulated and the site was updated). http://www.johnsvoice.ca/ The results are in a link (pdf) and once it was done there was a story or two in the papers and CBC interview, etc. I agree with all the posts and dont really have much to add. The clients I see are stable, nice, kind gentlemen. But I know there are clients out there who are slimeballs, I have seen their POVs on different forums, I have received phone calls and emails from them, I have had messages left at 3AM from them. I know they are there, and thankfully I know how to avoid them.
  14. Altho you handled it quite well, I do feel that if she got as far as your building, she owed you the courtesy not of an email next day, but a quick phone call right then and there. Explanation can follow, but it is the right thing to do, no matter what is going on in life, it only takes a moment to make that call. Regardless, you never want to get to the point where this sort of thing actually makes you angry tho, frustrated yes, annoyed yes, but anger is not good. Same for the clients, if you had the time to call to make the appt, said you will be there in an hour, and fail to show up or call to explain, that is a waste of of everyone's time, makes the sp that much more wary about accepting last minute appts, makes the sp more compelled to check references before accepting any appts, and makes it harder for everyone. For the sps who do this as well, she ends up making it harder for any sp to do business and be treated as reliable, professional, and punctual, because of the ones who are not.
  15. And hopefully it will spread to all provinces, or the Ontario defense will make the mistake of taking it to the supreme court of Canada, because not too many judges can say it is ok to not view the argument the exact same way. any law put in place that is directly used to prevent someone from working at something that is completely legal (like prostitution) cannot be constitutional. If a city has a problem with street workers, they can use vagrant laws or whatever other city bylaws are at their disposal to deal with the issue. Vancouver has a bylaw to deal with street begging, i.e. asking for money, hanging out in front of banks etc for the express purpose of asking for money, etc. The nice thing is that a street worker (in Ontario anyway) may now be able to hang out in a well lit more populated area, will have more time to access a potential client, and can now stand outside the vehicle to discuss the date. Right now they have about 3 seconds to decide to get in or not, then get driven away to a secluded area. (OK the secluded area part won't change, but she will have more time to decide if she wants to go at all)
  16. For more tips on wording, just look at the sites or ads from sps who do require references or have more detailed screening, and form one that works well for you. Many have more than just one option for a client to choose, one that works well for him and for what he can provide.
  17. You found the right place to post it. (just hate to tell ya this is about the 5th thread started today on this topic tho, not the first lol) (ok folks, click on New Posts before you post)
  18. I was about to post the same thing: Another story http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/canada/breakingnews/ontario-court-strikes-down-canadas-anti-prostitution-laws-103938924.html Also heard something about a 30 day stay to allow the govt to address the issue, I suppose. But they had best have something realistic in place and not just a bandaid copy of anything that just got struck down. cheers
  19. Seagulls are off topic? I agree totally, and probably guilty of allowing myself to comment on a side track. What I find myself doing sometimes is replying to an offtopic comment, for example on another board someone is looking for a specific body type, age range for an sp. The OP is given a couple of suggestions. One sp pops in to say thanks for the reco. Then HighJackGuy pops in to say how that particular sp has restrictions he didn't care for and he has been able to see other sps for less that her hourly rate. What he does not do is provide the names of these other sps, or if they meet the criteria the OP was asking about. What he did do was highjack the thread into a disussion of a particular sps rates/services and how (even tho he booked 2 appts with her) these rates/services were not to his taste lol.
  20. You had a good experience, and it may be natural for you to want to read more into it than is really there. Sps are really regular people, you may have been thrown off a bit by the fact that in real life they are regular people (more than just their individual parts, that is). Alot of clients repeat regularly with one sp, they connect well, they enjoy their time, the services and rates work well for them, the location, style and attractive factors all work for them. It would not be unusual if the 2nd visit goes very much like the first one, and you will enjoy your time just as much. However, you wlll have gotten over your nervousness or uncertainty, have a pretty good idea of what to do and expect, and be ready to do more or start sooner, and so on. Just don't make the fatal mistake some new guys and some inexperienced guys make, and try to turn it into a porn movie and the sp into a sex doll. This is an opportunity to learn finesse, skills, and techniques without judgment. Take advantage, take time, take the chance to learn things most young men find out thru trial and error lol.
  21. Seen them elsewhere, just mentioned because it was the first time I have seen it here. It is similar to a thank you feature which I have seen on one or two other social sites.
  22. Ahh, thanks everyone. And thanks to the creative ones who start the threads and make the comments that I feel compelled to reply to lol. NOt that long ago I thought 500 was a very long ways away, but it isn't really, not when you are really opinionated lol. :-D
  23. I also had this problem, with a regular doctor at my walkin clinic, (where all my records are). I had NO problem at all in getting almost every single thing checked including that trachy one I cant pronounce, and BV lol, at an STD clinic. In my city, (and they don't have one in every city in the lower mainland, only 3-4 I think), it is held twice a week for about 3 hours, and it is first come first servced sign up, and it is completely free and completely anonymous if you want to be anonymous. Not only that, but they check for HepB and provide the shots for it, if you want. If you qualify, you could also get some other shots which I forget. But the main point is, there is no argument and no problem, and they are there with sexual health expertise, and if you want, there are free condoms and lubes to take away with you! I had not gone there until this year, and am so glad I did. I highly recommend finding a similar clinic in your area. It isn't the most discrete, I suppose, when you think about it because you are sitting there for one reason, unlike sitting in a doctors office, but what the heck.
  24. I don't know if this is a new feature or I have just not noticed it, but mod has a little note in the lower right corner of the post that says "did you find this post helpful?" and you can click thumbs up or down. I just think that is cool.
  25. I agree. It is annoying to have made a point, then have to re-defend it when the argument comes from someone with no history of using blacklists or even viewing them. It is pure paranoid speculation, often used as an offensive move in an attempt to try to get these areas removed or exposed, and really I have seen these attacks on different boards by different methods before, and the end result is always the same: the sp areas remain intact and the blacklists remain intact, and the good guys do not suffer for their presence, and the bad guys don't get away with their bs. I am not sure about the reference to full details. The details would be privately accessed, and with few exceptions like the example given of the mysterious unnamed sp who gives access to a client (as tho we are to believe they have nothing better to do with their time together), so there is no public exposure of name, address details. The information, even a picture, would be given in an extremem example where the sp assumes the guy will try to disguise himself with a new # or email address. Many sps do outcalls, and get # and address. If a guy is booking fake appts, or is dangerous, then confirming an address is a necessary part of it all. I do not see any of that as a danger to a good client. If a client is truly good, and the sp is mistaken in posting his info based on one experience, other sps will speak up for him and present another viewpoint. I have seen a few black lists that have a lot more info that are fully publicly available without screening the viewers to be legit sps or to have some history on a board before they can view it. These are open for viewing by anyone. spoc . ca and shiftcalgary both have online bad date lists, with as much information as the sp can provide along with the accusations. descriptions, license plates, type of vehicle, phone #, names, addresses, etc etc. I would end this by saying that any good or great client is supportive of these areas, does not have unrealistic delusions of selfimportance to think that they are so awesomely great that they are included by an sp who doesn't want to share him and that they support the sps desire to work safely and without either endangering themselves or wasting time on jokers. They can already screen for reviewers with bad attitudes based on their posting history, and that really does work against the guy who uses a handle to book or for reference. There is no need to include such a person on a black list tho lol. 8-)
