  1. On another note, sociologists have observed that the amount of pubic hair on a population is often reflective of how tolerable the society is of nudity. I've found this to be very true. eg. Muslims are commanded to shave the pubic area, if you google nudist pictures they will likely have bushes, I've also noted that French girls are more likely to have some pubic hair than English-speaking girls at the strip clubs I work in. Obviously French-Canadian culture embraces nudity more than us English-speakers.
  2. In the strip club world at least in the states back in the day (not sure about Canada) the g-string had to cover all pubic hair. Ladies would shave to be able to wear the smaller g-strings.
  3. It has crossed my mind, but one of the reasons I strip is because my day job is not compatible with stripping and I am very afraid of being "outed."
  4. That is probably because escorts advertise online, whereas strippers usually do not.
  5. Did they tell you a song was 4 minutes or something? I don't really get why you think they took advantage of you. The club gets to set the length of the songs, and if you don't like the length you don't have to stay more than 1 song! Like I said above, I get complaints equally at clubs that cut songs, versus clubs that don't cut songs. You may be upset at them cutting songs, but I can assure you that for every guy who complains at cutting songs, there is a guy who is complaining at a club that doesn't cut songs that his song was shorter than the others. Also, I'm pretty sure Pigale's cuts their songs to exactly 3.5 minutes.
  6. I wasn't disputing the facts re: dance prices, etc. I was just stating that I disagree that shorter songs will hurt business for dancers. Dances at $10/song give you a maximum of $160/h earning potential, compared with $320/h currently. A higher earner potential is great for top earning dancers. Maybe the dancers who sell less dances might benefit from $10/song. For the record, I've danced at $10/song (club's rate, not mine) and I made about 80-100% what I make at $20/song and I worked twice as hard for it. Also, a lot of girls in Montreal come to Ottawa specifically for our $20/h dances.
  7. As a dancer, I'm not sure I agree. Well it's not for everyone. I only do the fixed hour rates for regular clients who come specifically to see me.
  8. Thanks! I'm really happy with the arrangement as are my customers. I only do it with guys who liked me the first time and are coming back to see me. I think they especially appreciate that they don't have to keep track of songs and they aren't afraid of going "overboard" and getting a hefty unexpected bill. Eg. If we do 1h for 240, they know exactly what they are going to owe and they can check their watch at any time to see how much time we have left.
  9. Yeah, no offense, but you're not going to have a good time at a strip club if you can only spend $20.
  10. Well, I've danced at different clubs and there are two models: 1) Cut the songs to make them all the same length (3.5 minutes). Customers complain when a song is cut short. 2) Dance to the songs onstage that vary between 2.5-5 minutes. Customers complain that a song is "shorter" than the other songs. We seriously can't win. Angela - You're right about cutting the length of the song instead of raising the prices. Dances have been $20 for around a decade and this has not been adjusted to the rate of inflation or rise in living costs. However, I don't want to see the prices raised because $20 bills are convenient. It would be kind of ridiculous to charge $23/song or something like that. On a side note, I do $140/200/240 for 30/45/60 minutes respectively and customers seem to prefer this in comparison to counting songs as do I.
  11. Most of the girls at Centerfolds are from out of town and they are working long hours at Centerfolds to make the most for their trip. I've never heard of any of them providing extras.
  12. Angela - May I ask how your phone number was acquired? If you post your phone number in a public manner, I don't believe your private information was compromised. However, I do think what they did to your sister's boyfriend was unreasonable. If the phone is permitted to be used for private reasons, then it should be none of their business whether he uses his phone to call a friend or an escort. That being said, the exceptions would of course be illegal services (which, of course, offering companionship for money and private arrangements of sexual services for money are not) or abuse, eg. if he used his phone to talk to escorts all day every day. I'm sorry your family went through this.
  13. Communication is key to all relationships. Just straight up ask her!
  14. I don't like bushy things around my crotch LOL
  15. I don't have any first-hand experience, but I will tell you that you get what you pay for. The best girls who give the best dances won't be interested in doing $10 dances.
  16. I totally disagree with the decline comments, but I don't have the time to post why right now...... Just wanted to add that the reason there are probably not clubs in the huge growing populations you mentioned above is due to city bylaws and getting a permit.
  17. LOL joeblow. I also agree they look ridiculous. I usually think they look like they've just taken a huge dump in their diaper. I don't know why I think that, but it's the mental image that comes to mind.
  18. curious2 - Did you know our little hottie Dice worked at Silver Dollar? lol. I want to go work there one night, just to say I did it!
  19. I've never danced at Barbarella's, but I've shown up three times over the course of 2 years asking to work. Each time I was told "We have too many girls tonight. Would you like to schedule for next week?" All three times, I chose not to schedule and went to either Bare Fax or Nu Den instead. I really don't like their policy on limiting dancers. Some may think it's odd that I as a dancer would oppose restricting the numbers because fewer dancers means more money, but I don't believe this to be the case. I prefer the strip club industry to be "survival of the fittest" rather than a first-come first-served basis.
  20. Trust me, gentleman. You all want to come to the Nu Den after the Chippendales. Most of the dancers working 11pm-2am watched the Chippendales so we're a little more randy than usual :)
  21. Did you read the most recent Ottawa Citizen article? I'm sure it would make your blood boil. According to the paper, and I have no confirmation from the club, the Nu Den is considering tightening restrictions surrounding baggy clothes and other "hip hop" clothing in response to Saturday's incident.
  22. Congrats, Erin! I'm in women's studies at Carleton. I'd love to chat with you sometime.
  23. I'll try and make this simple. Good: Pigale', Nu Den, Bare Fax, Barbarella's. Not Recommended based on my experience: Playmate, Taboo, Cabaret Canada.
  24. I agree that this is a problem, and I also think it's important to recognize that not all dancers are like this. It's usually pretty easy to discern between the two. Avoid the girls gathered in groups, complaining at the bar that they aren't making money. Notice the dancers who avoid other dancers and instead spend their time approaching customers and doing more lapdances. You'll get much better value for your money! Please note, I'm not suggesting you return to strip clubs. Everyone has a preferred sector and I respect. What I am trying to do is point out that mature, drama-free women actually do exist in strip clubs! Julia
  25. Besides myself, of course lol, I would have to say that Dice at the Nu Den is my current favourite dancer. She was at Silver Dollar for awhile. I did a double dance with her and it was so hot! She looks very young and sweet. I wanted to dominate her but she shocked me and just completely dominated me, sweet little thing that she is! It was amazing.
