For all it's faults, I love my country and feel truly fortunate be a Canadian. Having said that, this country has some pretty serious blood on its hands regarding how it was built. Not nearly as much as the Americans but still plenty. How we have treated first nations from day one has been criminal and it should be just as an important issue as Healthcare or Afghanistan. And first nations themselves shouldn't be the only ones fighting this kind of treatment. White, black, asian, everybody should be disgusted by this. It's the responsibility of all Canadians to insist this issue gets national attention and substantial change.

Try thinking of them as big mosquitos (without slapping the person administering them).

I hope that one day we can adopt a New Zealand type of program taylor made for Canada, but I have no confidence that any of Canada's political forces have the will do to so. Even Paul Martin danced around his initial support for same sex marriage after taking over from Jean Chretien because of some public backlash. When it comes to these kinds of issues, politicans of any stripe have little or no backbone. Unless, as I stated before, there is money involved. Its cynical, but unfortunately true. Right now there is no public appetite for change on this issue, and no money to convince any politician it's worth their support. Only money and suffering equals change, even in a more democratic country like Canada. And if the suffering that resulted from Pickton didn't convince anyone things need to change, I don't know what will.

I have always suported an apporoach similar to the New Zealand one has as well because it protects the women themselves, prevents women in vulnerable situations (like addicts) or underage girls from being exploited, puts and keeps pimps out of business and is even a public health issue (I read an article once citing that countries that had legalized prostitution actually had lowers rates of HIV/AIDS and other STDs). As for the political reality, no government in Canada will enact progressive change without there being a lobby for it. People talk about Harper, and while I am not defending or advocating him, there is no more a chance of the Ignatieff Liberals or Layton NDP going down this road either. And the truth is it doesn't matter who their leader is, politicans do not change anything unless their is plenty of popular support for it and money by campaign donors. Unfortunately, there is neither. Robert Pickton's murder spree in BC is evidence of that. The majority of the public and police ignored the problem for years while women disappeared. You have to ask yourself if that would have been the case had it been "regular" women. Ugly and disgusting but true.

I have often thought that if Jesus, Mohammed and even Buddha were to come back today, without any doubts in anyone's minds, the first thing they would tell us all would be to calm down and relax. The next thing they would tell us is that we probably got it all wrong. I'm of the opinion that if the Jewish Yahweh or Christian God or Islamic Allah truly exist, they are probably a lot more forgiving than we would ever think. And a lot less bloodthirsty/violent. They're also probably very disappointed but have great senses of humour (how else do you explain Britney Spears?).

I'd have George W. Bush. If for no other reason than to have him spend a week cleaning up his own messes and order him to punch himself in the face multiple times. I'd also like the entire crew from Fox News, Riley, Beck and Co. and I'd order them to be honest and subjective an entire week. Mostly because I don't think they'd survive the experience.

Do you have any suggestions for produce delivery? I ask because a friend of mine joined a club and promptly threw out the first basket because of the condition the fruits and vegetables were in when he recieved the basket. I don't know what company it was. And it would have to include seedless grapes. There my candy.

I would have to include my father as well. He spent the majority of his life keeping people safe and rescuing them from harm while taking care of his family and putting up with me, no small task. Good point. I have to admit I am becoming the same way about fresh fruits and vegetables. Walk into a supermarket and virtually all their produce is a product of somewhere else. It has become almost impossible to buy locally unless your at a farmer's market. But that cookie sounds great.

A woman I work with sometimes brings in free pastries from Stabucks (she works there part time as well) and I must say, also having worked at Tim Horton's years ago, I trust Starbucks far more. You pay more but I find your getting what you pay for.

So I've read a few disturbing threads the past few days where some of the ladies, long time and cherished members all, have had to tolerate truly idiotic, cowardly, deceptive, unforgiveable, disrespectful and borderline criminal behaviour. These ladies put themselves at a lot of risk and are under constant vigilance for their own health and safety. And they manage to do it with a smile on their faces and often making the men enjoying their company feel better. They sometimes entertain while in a bad mood, when they're having a bad day, they make time for us and often go out of their to go add that extra little touch. On one of these other threads, one of the ladies offered a cupcake to make someone feel better and I think that's a damn fine idea. For my part, I'll be bringing cupcakes to any CERB members I visit in the future and I encourage and suggest other CERB hobbyists to do the same. A small gesture to prove to all the great ladies who put up with us how important they are.

I've read a few threads over the past two days regarding some abhorrent, criminal behaviour with the ladies. What is going through these people's heads? Bullies, cowards and losers. I think CERB members should take Lindsay's idea and start a little campaign to start spreading some sugarey happiness. They all deserve cupcakes. In fact, the next time I visit any CERB members in the future there is going to be cupcakes! Or some sort of pastry. And I'm inviting all other CERB members to join me. The ladies deserve it. Sabrina, these people are not worth your time ever again and I am genuinely sorry you had to put up with this lunacy. In fact, whoever has the privilege of visiting Sabrina next should bring her a dozen cupcakes! I know it won't make up for it but you should know that you are appreciated by real, good people and not these wastes.

The behaviour of this person is nothing short of disgusting. To disrespect a lady's wishes so blatantly and without shame and to resort to lying is beneath low. Michelle brings up excellent points. A lady reserves the right to refuse specific individuals based on a number of criteria, including their safety. And like she also said, what did this person think was going to happen when you opened the door? Automatic forgiveness? I have had a handful of appointments fall apart at the last second (often for unavoidable reasons) and in one case, I believe the lady decided against the appointment. Sure, I was disappointed but would never consider using lies or deception. Lindsay, I'm truly sorry you had to suffer this sort of stupidity and the same goes for all the other ladies on CERB. I truly can't fathom this sort of malicous idiocy. I think it goes without saying that this individual (and I'm being very selective with my words when referring to this individual) has surrendered the right to see any of the ladies here. News tip, friend, their time is a privilige that should be treasured and never taken for granted.

Facebook has evolved beyond mere social networking. Recent scandals involving the release of private information for millions of users and its presence in a number of recent and tragic investigations of cyber-bullying that resulted in suicide. Not to mention the threat of predators trolling for victims, particularly young kids. Hell, even employers are using FB now as a way to do background checks on applicants and existing employees. EVERYONE needs to take care of their personal information, and SPs and MAs have to be more careful than others because of the nature of the industry. Its unfortunate some exercise poor judgement in dealing with their information, forgetting they're jeopradizing others as well. Equally unfortunate that there are a lot of people, hobbyists and non-hobbyists alike, who fail to exercise discretion when stumbling upon some information. This is the information age afterall, and personal data has become the new currency. It's a dangerous sword that cuts both ways and can wound friends and others as well as an individual. What's really unfair is some ladies like Anessa are forced into these situations by a few others not exercising adequate caution. The sad reality is that no matter how much security and protection you use, you can't always protect yourself from other people's decisions.

I've never considered requesting a lady to wear a costume and would like to consider myself unconcerned with them, but . . . For some reason the classic cowgirl outfit always gets me. Cowboy hat, tight, ripped jeans and a tank top seems to have my mental number. i have no idea why.

For most people, those sites are a waste of time. Pay sites make money from people being single, so you have to wonder how much they really want you to find someone. And for all sites I've heard the majority of users are men, putting a lot of guys behind the 8 ball. I know that on POF a big complaint for a lot of the guys who use it for sincere purposes are that they get ignored by the majority of women. Women complain that many of the men they do politely respond to saying "thanks but not interested" respond with insults and abuse. Outside of a small group I'd hazard a guess that they are a waste of time for most people.

Perhaps the biggest thing I can say is that some of the women I have met here treat me better than many women you might meet dating. I have noticed that more than one lady on CERB say that many of the men they've met here have treated them better than men in social situations as well. It goes both ways. And as we;ve seen from the stories shared by masterowls and Big Al there are some women here with huge hearts. It's often just worth it to be treated with respect and courtesy.

I mentioned that the goverment originally maintained that it would be revenue neutral until there bluff was called and they "admitted" that it would cost the average family 300 to 600 hundred dollars more. So, why the deception? It his everyone where it hurts the most, gasoline, electricity, and heating (plus other consumable items). This is not the only way this government has plundered the tax base lately. Anyone who has purchased major electronics lately has noticed that there is a "tax" specific to electronics for environmental handling. But they add it as a levy so that it appears as a purchase and therefore is taxed as well. It was introduced April 1, 2009 and this past April they expanded it to be charged on more items and increaded it on many others (that new TV you've always had your eye on will now cost you an extra 30 bucks without any additional quality). But no one knows where that money goes. The government is not offering any additional services for it as consumers are still responsible for transporting said electronics to select depots. And on that particular subject, when did a government that has insited it could never afford scrubbers for coal fired nuclear power plants (but could waste a billion dollars on a failed attempt to make health records digitzed) become so concerned about the enironment? The HST is shifting taxes from businesses to consumers and the government has their fingers crossed that it will translate into more jobs. But as previous posts have metioned, this will mean less disposable money in everyone's pockets and it could increase the underground economy, so there is less tax. And those other income tax reductions will quickly be eaten up by other tax increases. Again, as some posters have mentioned, like their property taxes. This was poorly thought out and is being poorly managed (only nine days in as well). And if you are of the school of thought that this is a good thing, that presumes that you trust the government to manage it well. Refer to my initial point about their honesty. A first aid kit (does that count as one item?), the biggest notebook I could find, a pen with unlimited ink, 100 Ft. of rope and my entire library (hey, if I can get away with a first aid kit . . .).

A) For months the Provincial Government claimed this would not cost people more money in the long run, claiming the Rebate Cheques were a way to ease the adjustment. Some members of the opposition parties had their own economists crunch the numbers but before they could annouce their findings the government claimed they were incorrect and yes, the average family would be paying as much as $600 more per year. B) The underlying premise is that businesses would save money in operating costs and then pass those saving on to customers. The LCBO, owned by the province, increaded their prices to eat up those savings. And some business costs could go up. Shipping costs could go up as transport companies will now have to pay extra for gas and businesses will now have to pay more for their electricity and heat. Those increased costs could potentially eat up those savings are force some bigger companies to loook for ways to make that money back. Like increasing their prices or cutting labour. Lindsay is right when she says that people can (and should) adjust some of their habits to save on some of their consumption, but alas, that could cost jobs in the long run as well. And now Ontario's energy and consumption taxes are obscene enough to scare off foreign investment (one large mining company already left because of the hydro prices, throwing a few hundred people out of work in a Norhtern Ontario community). So the question is, after McGuinty lied about taxes the first time around and burned us with the Health Premium, why did so many people vote for him the second time?

Unfortunately, most people fail to respect policies unless they understand there are extreme conscequences. Perhaps the ladies could advertise a policy that anyone calling them outside of their hours essentially forefeits their right to an appointment. After all, your company is a privilege, not a right. And as for the man who was scolding you Lindsay, perhaps you should ask him for his home number and call him at 4 am, apologizing that you knew it was outside normally acceptable hours but you just had to discuss that sports event/music concert/news item.

Miel is justified in her frustration. Not only is it an insult to her, but she is right when she points out that some of the ladies here are mothers. Everyone should remember that being a mother is the most important job in the world and keep that in mind when they insult a lady by trying to haggle or barter for their time.
