Seems like a recipe for an awkward situation. Even if he would be OK with it, she may not. Many SP's like to keep a clear line between their business lives and their personal lives. Personally, I'd advise him to play it safe and see someone else.

Not sure why everyone gives the Asian agencies a pass on the whole bait and switch thing. We've all just accepted it as standard practice. Why look at the pictures as a reference at all if you know they aren't really her?

I think its important to let people explore the site first and see what it has to offer. Why would they want to otherwise? Let them view up to a given number of pages (10 maybe?) before you hit a "sign up here for a free account" message. (The site used to do that.)

It isn't about giving them more perks for joining. It's more about limiting their perks until they do take that time. No we can't make them contribute once they have. You can lead a horse to water....... We can get them closer though and once they have an account they are far more likely to. More members makes for a stronger site.

Currently, you can't view recco's without signing in to an account. There used to also be a limit to how many pages you could view without signing in too. I don't believe that that is still the case though. (I just tried signing out and it let me navigate the site for a while without shutting me down, just couldn't see the recco's). I think that would be useful if it were brought back as far as converting the people dropping by to become members. (Assuming I'm correct about it no longer being in place.) You also couldn't view anyone's personal page before which no longer seems to be the case. Again an added incentive to sign up perhaps. I'm not sure what more you can do. If you restrict access more than that, you risk people losing interest. You have to show them what the site has to offer in the first place. You have to find the right balance there. Interesting ideas. Worth considering if there is interest from the sp's.

Save your money. That's a scam ad. Photos stolen from: Reverse image search is your best friend in this hobby. Also, never send a money transfer to an unknown lady. It's the fastest way to make money disappear. ;) Cape Breton seems to be full of these scam ads. Not sure if there is much of a real industry there or not. Maybe someone local can make some suggestions? I know there are a few well known Halifax ladies who travel to Sydney from time to time which is worth keeping an eye out for.

Wow. 8.5 mm! You are very lucky they found it when they did. Mine was a thoracic aneurysm so they had to go in through the chest and sternum. Not much fun at all. You are absolutely right. This is a very prevalent problem that most people are unaware of. There should be a lot more screening for this type of thing. There is often a genetic component too, (at least with the type I had) which means your immediate family may want be screened, and not just when they are older. It can be helpful if younger people who are at risk are monitored regularly so they can establish bench marks for them from what I've been told. Worth at least discussing with your cardiologist on your next check up if you have not yet anyway. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on finding it when (and how) you did. I'm sorry to hear that a full 100% may not be fully achievable for you, but I think there's little doubt that it was necessary at that size. I know exactly what you mean about the surgery though. It feels crazy walking in with no symptoms, feeling great, and letting them cut you open like that. I had a hard tome reconciling that one. I struggled with it for a long time. It was a comment on 2 possible interpretations on the intention of why the word 'independent' is used in ads, and a statement of my own preference to not support a particular business model. (and yes an assumption that others feel the same way about it). You're kidding yourself by the way if you think it doesn't exist here in Halifax.

I guess it depends on the meaning you take from the word 'independent'. I often take it, depending on the ad, to simply mean that she's not being exploited by a pimp. That she is there by her own choice, and that she is the one benefiting from her work. This is an important factor to me when deciding who to see. I assume it is to others as well. Just because it is stated doesn't necessarily make it true though, but it is an import distinction at least. As far as a distinction between being part of an upscale agency vs being an independent lady goes, I've always looked at this as more of a business decision on the ladies part. If it's worth it to her or to give up part of the proceeds to have someone else do the behind the scenes work for them or not. Who made the ad or who took my booking doesn't change the value of the service she offers so I don't really see why it should impact the price. You might feel more comfortable going through a particular agency because you know them to be reputable, or you like their vetting processes, or for whatever reason. Again, that's part of the value that they can offer to the lady to justify getting a cut of her fee. Many ladies feel it's worth giving up a portion of their earnings for this, particularly when they are new and don't have as much reputation of their own. They are in essence paying the agency to use their reputation. I guess it's how you look at it. You're choosing to look at it as they are making more than they should by being independent. That they are making "extra income" somehow. I'm looking at it as they are choosing to earn less than they could by being part of an agency and using their resources. (But there are benefits she enjoys as part of the service she is paying them for.) A matter of perspective I guess. At the end of the day, they should charge what the market will bare, and what works for her business, regardless of what others are charging or what I think. In my industry, I could charge less for my professional services if I wanted to as well, but I won't simply because I don't have to. We get to vote with our wallets at the end of the day but otherwise it's up to her what she charges.

Honestly, it would never have occurred to me to expect a lesser rate because someone is an independent. There are so many costs associated with running your own business, even if you are not giving a cut to an agency. Placing ads and running websites are far from free. Not to mention the ridiculous number of unpaid hours they put into maintaining these sites and ads, screening, scheduling, and answering inquiries from people who more often than not are just looking to chat. Most agency girls don't maintain their own sites or social media accounts, or pay for their own ads. They just work when someone else schedules them to.

Personally, I think it's hilarious! Not sure the risk is as big a concern as stated here, but it's worth considering I guess. The vast majority of these scammers are not local though. They are simple con artists who prey on men who think with their d**ks and willingly send them money. Big difference from an internet troll who is looking for confrontation. I also wouldn't assume they are technological geniuses because they can post an ad with stolen internet pics, set up an anonymous email address and accept e-transfers. Pretty simple scam by most standards. They just want easy money. Make it harder for them. That said, not really my style but good for you. Give 'em hell! 😉

Well, it has now been a year since my surgery. I just went back and reread through all of these thoughtful and encouraging posts today. I'm glad to say that I'm mostly back to my old self now. With only a couple of minor complications throughout the process, I have few remnants of the whole ordeal besides a hefty scar. (Although my dreams of becoming an underwear model are likely now over as a result 😉 ) I wanted to say thanks again to everyone who posted here and also to those who pm'd me last year with words of encouragement. It meant more than you know. I have a tendency to think myself into a panic if left to my own thoughts. It was good to have people to talk things through with and to help keep things in perspective. I think the are a few interesting questions here. I think most would agree that by most definitions that yes it was a sexual assault. You not only didn't give consent, you were vocal in your opposition and that was ignored. Is there a double standard in how it is treated? Yes. I think that is pretty clear as well. All of us would be talking about it differently if the roles were reversed here. Should there be a double standard? Now that's the really interesting question in my opinion. (And one I hope to simulate a debate on, not stir controversy. Here goes 😉 ) I don't want to belittle your experience at all here because how you were treated was wrong. We all need to recognize consent or the lack there of in all situations. The problem with the comparison of the role reversal comes down to this question: Did you ever feel you were in danger? Once you decided you were pushed past your limit, you physically exerted your option of ending it. (I applaud you for that by the way). The point is that most women would not have had that option in a similar situation. Especially with 2 men forcing themselves on her. There is a fear element involved that doesn't sound like was present in your situation. The fact that you have stated that you will still see both if them again in the future, shows a certain level of complacency. Again, not trying to make light because you are right to take it very seriously. Is it fair to question if the situation should be treated the same in a role reversal? I guess I'm arguing that the (on average) size difference between men and women makes it different on some level. Thoughts?
