Dropped into the 'Mate for a brief spell on Thursday (10/29) afternoon and found the place busier than usual (at least in my limited experience). Noticed Candy, Serena, Cassandra and the very busty Adora. Didn't see busty Delicious, Danica or Annika. I'm wondering if Annika is more often at Pigale lately (or is that a different Annika?). The atmosphere calmed down significantly around 3:00 or so.

Well....don't thank me yet pagypie.....we'll see what transpires on Saturday (I'm hoping to get in then if I can't make it tomorrow). Hate to raise the rather sad issues of a) the possible demise of Barb's and b) the possible departure of the ATF of many of us....but the months have been going by....only two left in 2015 after this Hallowe'en Saturday. As the end of the year draws nearer, I'm going to try to attend more often and keep my ear to the ground. Hope Barb's will continue for a while into 2016, but I fear that 2015 may see the departure of an ATF. If any readers/posters of this thread have any new info about these things, I'm always interested to know about general and/or specific developments on the Barb's front.

For what it's worth, Jenny told me she would be in all this week (except Tuesday, her usual day off but that's history for this week now) including Saturday. Also hoping that she'll be in this coming Saturday afternoon (10/31) - if we both keep our fingers crossed, maybe that will improve the odds.

Unexpectedly in the neighbourhood and took the opportunity to drop into Barb's very briefly around 2:30 Saturday (10/24). Noticed the tall, leggy blonde Tracy on stage (new to me) as well as a few ebony dancers also unfamiliar to me. Another smaller blonde emerged just as I was leaving but wasn't sure if she was someone I'd previously seen. Also noticed an ultra curvy dark-haired dancer - not sure if I've seen her at Barb's before either. Come to think of it, Jenny was the only one I recognized. Departed around 3:00 or so after speaking to the always gorgeous Jenny about her upcoming schedule. Jenny's beauty continues to astound and amaze - it is always such a treat to see her in the club.

Tend to agree with most of the responses to the original post at the start of this thread. I've not been to the 'Mate in the evenings for quite a while, but never found it "scary" (as described in a later post in the thread) in the past. Afternoons the 'Mate can seem a little quieter than one might wish for but that seems to be the nature of the place - at times it can seem like a cross between an SC and a neighbourhood bar. Would think that Barb's is probably your best alternative (afternoons or evenings). In my experience the atmosphere at 340 is always congenial, whether on a very busy Friday/Saturday night or on a quieter afternoon visit. (As noted, Saturday afternoon music at Barb's seems to be on an 80s theme, but my sense is that the full range of 80s tunes are represented from pop fromage to LA hair farmers to new wave etc. etc.) Haven't been to the 'Fax or others enough to really comment, but I doubt the 'Fax or 'Den would be uncomfortable - others may be more able to comment on the atmospherics at those clubs from recent experience. I'd suggest giving Barb's a try.

What an astonishing anecdote! While I don't want to appear to be too cynical, I would have imagined that this would have been indeed "an unexpected outcome". Losing one's wallet with credit cards and ID in a strip club not in one's home city strikes me as a very difficult circumstance to say the least. I'm glad you were able to get back home and especially pleased that someone took the time and trouble to return your wallet. Seems that someone at the 'Mate stepped up and did the right thing here, if that's not too cliched a way of phrasing it.

Bridgette and Ariel.....sounds like a fine afternoon at Barb's. Always great to read reports about the scene at 340. Did you notice if tall, blonde, leggy, busty and gorgeous Jenny was in attendance?

When attending more frequently in the evenings (drop in more often in the afternoons in recent years) I had often found that the quieter nights (say Sunday to Tuesday) could be quite worthwhile at Barb's. While some other clubs can be a bit too slow on these nights, Barb's often seemed to strike the balance between a frantic or at least very busy Friday or Saturday night mood and a sense of things being just way too dull. Even on the quietest Sunday evening there always seemed to be a fun time to be had. Hope you will post re your visit to the 'Mate if you end up venturing down the Montreal Road.

Probably a good idea to get in as much as possible this fall and for the remainder of the year as things seem to be a bit uncertain. Whatever the future holds for Barb's in general, changes can always take place in the shorter term as well such as an ATF moving on at some point. Hoping to be in more often as the mercury falls and the year winds down.

After briefly stopping by about two weeks ago, again dropped into 340 on a Saturday afternoon (8/29) and the place seemed to doing fairly well - slightly above average activity for a Saturday afternoon. Arrived around 2:20 just as Jenny was finishing her second turn onstage, so yet again missed seeing her full stage appearance(s). Jenny looked gorgeous after being on stage - today wearing a very short black one piece with a tiny black thong underneath - breathtaking as always. Although my time and attention were largely taken up by Jenny, I have to mention that Brandi looked especially nice on stage - a pretty girl with a very lovely shape. Departed around 4:00 as Brandi was finishing her turn on stage. Overall quite a good weekend afternoon at Barb's.

Interesting. This seems to refer to the original station plan involving the Delta on the east side of Lyon. I'm wondering if the change to the west side adjacent to 340 will affect the construction schedule in any way. If the station entrance is to be excavated at the parking lot, things could happen more quickly - on the other hand, 340 might not be affected for a while (until the Claridge development gets underway). Ah well, I'm just engaging in circular, pointless babbling I guess - it'll happen when it happens. Wish I knew precisely when.

Interesting. Thanks for the post, curmudgeon. Perhaps the LRT entrance will be completed long before any other development on the site.

Stopped by 340 very briefly on Saturday (8/15) afternoon and found things to be moderately busy at around 3:00. Not as active as I've seen on some Saturday afternoons in the past, but not nearly as slow as on others. A number of unfamiliar girls (it's been a while since I've been in) - but recognized Claire and Jenny anyway. After such a long time away, seeing Jenny in the club was so nice. Almost forgot how gorgeous she is and she certainly looked as stunning as ever. Left about 3:30 after chatting briefly with J. - a bit disappointed I didn't get to see her on stage.

Maude has definitely been seen at Barb's in the past, but I believe it's been some time since she's been there. Could be wrong, since I'm rarely at Barb's in the evening and I seem to recall that Maude was mostly an evening girl, but could be wrong about that as well. Haven't seen her in the afternoon at Barb's in the last few years anyway.

At the PM for a short while Thursday (8/13) afternoon and found the place to be fairly quiet, as usual. Noticed Candy, Delicious, Tasty (is there a pattern here?) and Danica. Can now distinguish Annika from Danica. However, Annika was not around and I didn't notice Adora either. A number of other dancers were present who seem to be regulars but don't know names to report. Danica provides a very stimulating and somewhat unusual CR experience. Typical PM atmosphere, fairly calm overall, but CR activity seemed to be increasing after 2:00 or so.

Sadly, I think DocMyles is likely on the mark that "the latter is much more likely" - i.e. that we have only a few more months. I'd be very surprised if it's just an LRT station - there seems to be a fair amount of evidence that a prominent local developer (Claridge) has at least some ownership interest in the site. I suppose there's an outside chance that the LRT station's entrance will be in some way separate from whatever else is developed at the site and thus could go ahead prior to other building, but I'm guessing this is not likely (or even if so that the site will be developed as a single project - just a guess). Sorry if some find this discussion obsessive or pointless but this has been dangling overhead for a few years now and it's a bit sad to contemplate that it'll be closing sooner rather than a bit later. Wish some Barb's staff/insiders could provide some guidance re the timing of this.

I have no specific knowledge beyond what's been posted here. Just making the logical (I think) surmise that excavation/construction for the light rail station will probably have to begin some time in the (relatively) near future. Not at all sure what the timing of this will turn out to be - just hoping for at least 2 or 3 more months. Hope anyone with intel/knowledge regarding this will post on this thread.

Thanks for the intel, curmudgeon! Looks like we'll have at least a little more time before the curtains come down at Barb's. Presumably it's more a matter of 'when' than 'if' as I suppose the site will be developed in some way when the light rail station is excavated.

Sounds like there will be an end to things sooner rather than later if that is the case. Wonder if anyone on Barb's staff has had a similar notification. Suppose it's inevitable as this has been brewing for a while. Better hurry in while there's still time I guess. Somewhat sad to contemplate this - had hoped for a reprieve until year end.

My thought exactly, Macadamia! Thanks for the links, curmudgeon. If Claridge has been mostly a residential developer (not sure if they've done any office buildings), I guess we'll have yet another condo tower in downtown O-town. Maybe we'll have the rest of 2015 anyway - here's hoping!

Apparently the site has been slated for (re)development of some kind for quite a while. There was a fair amount of discussion about the matter in this very thread some time ago. Presumably a light rail station would be integrated with some other project at the site. It strikes me as a bit surprising that the site has remained as fairly low density (small parking lot/low rise building) for as long as it has, considering the location. If anyone has any solid information about this, it would be interesting to know what the immediate future holds.

This thread seems to have gone a bit quiet for a few weeks. It's been a while since I've been able to stop by but I hope that those who have been in lately will continue to post about their Barb's experiences. Always interested to read about the current scene at Barb's and especially any info re Jenny - if she's still around and if anyone has seen her lately etc.

Thanks for the info re an Annika sighting. It's been a while since I've seen her at the 'Mate but there seem to be indications that she's still to be seen on occasion. Guess I'm not getting in enough to see her when she's in - I'll have to keep trying. I think my last visit was a Thursday - maybe Wednesday is a better bet.
