  1. Before the WC began I was looking for a Spain v Argentina final. Spain have made it and look good enough to beat Holland
  2. this has been a most interesting world cup. My heart went out to Gyan. Brazil fell apart in the second half - lost their shape and their discipline and Dunga is the great disciplinarian. He's finished as coach of Brazil. Germany were fluid, disciplined and clinical in their finishing - a great improvement over the past few German teams - and so young. Today's game between Spain and Paraguay was fascinating. I was expecting Spain to dominate (I'm hoping Spain will win because I love the way they play. I was betting on a Spain v. Argentina final). The Paraguay coach certainly got his tactics right and it took a moment of sheer brilliance from Iniesta to break the deadlock. There will be a lot of controversy over Paraguay's goal being disallowed. Does the fact that Alonso had to retake his penalty kick balance that?? I suspect there will be lots more excitement to come. Additional Comments: "ha ha ... true, it's hard to control the data against all the contaminating factors. Maybe the ticket would have been to select the team from cloistered monks ..." __________________ WIT -the last thing you will find in the English Premier League is a cloistered monk!!!!
  3. For the record, the aggregate results in the World Cup for the three teams that had been forbidden by their management from having sex during the tournament (England, Chile, Ghana): 6 wins, 3 draws, 4 losses. Of the losses, two were in the round of 16, and one was in the quarterfinals. __________WIT - I do believe that your calculations may not have taken into account David Beckham, Metro-Man. I mean, I have no doubt that Beckham was parading himself around the England compound in his sari in an an attempt to bring karma to the team. Maybe that's what put off hard man John Terry off his game, Terry having used his "hard" man prowess on the girlfriend of a potential England defender before the team was selected.
  4. I dunno but it seems pretty sad to me if a "gentleman" makes an appointment and expects change. Get with the program guys.
  5. I love Bach's Magnificat and Emily is magnificent, makes my body reverberate with organ music!!!!!
  6. re: the comments of Rickoshadow, Pistol Pete and Scott the Canuck - no need for me to add to anything that I said before.
  7. Quote from Rickoshadow: "We are far to easy on protesters in Canada. Perhaps that is why protesting achieves nothing in modern day Canada, there is no consequence to civil disobedience. Protesters get detained for a few hours, get a court date with a token slap on the wrist and let go to do it all over again. For most of the miscreants, it is nothing more than a wekend adventure. For civil disobedience to work, protesters have show they are willing to accept dire consquences for their actions. I'm pretty sure Ghandi and his followers would laugh at out little princess protesters. Perhaps when we start handing out 10 year prison sentence to any anarchist who can be associated with violent acts and other sanctions against protesters who get out of hand, then maybe those who really have something to say will get some attention." Daddio's comment: There is a huge difference between civil disobedience and anarchists who can be associated with violent acts. You can't generalise like that. Ghandi engaged in civil disobedience. That was the essence of his movement. In fact his "salt march" broke the law. And it was very effective. We are a very privileged country and we are a democratic country, notwithstanding Harper's erosion of our democratic rights. With privilege comes responsibility, responsibility to observe the rule of law which requires the punishment to fit the crime. I think a balanced view of the protests would lead most Canadians to conclude that many, many "innocent" protesters did indeed accept the consequences of their actions, being handcuffed, punched, kicked and detained. "Dire" consequences - "10 year sentences." That is an extreme point of view and one I believe most Canadians do not share. It would have a "chill" effect on protests and from what you say I take it that you are not against protests in principle.
  8. Not so much a prediction, more comments on what I've seen so far. Before it started I was hoping for an Argentina v Spain final on the basis that both teams have lots of fire power and it could possibly produce a goal-fest (within the limits of a football game) and with beautiful, silky football. Argentina are producing, no question about that. Even if Messi hasn't scored his movement and link play creates so many chances for others. He is an absolute marvel with the way he can stumble yet still recover his balance and keep the ball - he's not one for diving which I really admire. David Villa is in good form. Fernando Torres is struggling a bit because he was out with injury in the weeks before the tournament. If he regains full match fitness Spain will score more goals. I'm impressed with Germany. This is a far different Germany from any I can remember for a long, long time. No longer just efficient and disciplined but now fluid, imaginative in their attacking play with a creative midfield and on-form strikers. The defence is a bit suspect. Brazil are also playing differently than they traditionally do, much more disciplined but with enough creativity to break and score. The discipline comes from Dunga who was defensive minded and a completely uncompromising tackler in his playing days. The Netherlands are looking OK. They haven't yet sparkled for me and I think they are struggling to play as a complete team. Maybe not that Arjen Robben is back they will start producing some magic. I would love to see Ghana make it through to at least the quarter finals. Africa has produced so many world class players and it would give the continent a huge boost if Ghana were to go through. And who knows???? When it's all over I think I will actually miss the vuvuzelas!!!!!
  9. Well said Emily: Many people question the credibility of these summits mainly because pledges made in the past have failed miserably to materialise. If we were to allow them the benefit of the doubt we may think that some good may come of them, in the longer term. But there are so many vested interests at stake which are in conflict with the publicly stated aims of the summits. It remains to be seen what will come of the stated objectives of this one. The other, and perhaps more major question with respect to this particular summit, is exactly what you point out - the choice of location in the downtown city core and the lack of accountability on behalf of the Feds for what everyone knew would happen. And then there is the cost. Because it is a HUGE cost and in terms of protecting the downtown businesses the much vaunted security arrangements can only be seen as another failure. Thanks for this post Emily.
  10. OMG - so funny Maybe we gents can hope that the ladies like blowing on the vuvuzelas!!!
  11. I do believe that the word "use" or "using" is inappropriate in referring to the ladies of cerb. It has connotations of a power imbalance between people and also of "ownership" of someone - the same power relationship. I fully realise that it may be used inadvertently without appreciating that it may convey those underlying meanings. It doesn't matter to me how long ago the term was used on cerb, I found it in the new posts; this is a forum for debate and for conveying the opinions of members and if, as a result of a debate, there is some consensus, a given post may prove to be "educational", especially for newbies in the context of respect. The discussion has been broadened to discuss the designation - "Service Provider", or "SP". I adopted that terminology because it is what is used on cerb. I think that this is a debate for the ladies. I have had conversations with ladies when they refer to other cerb ladies as SPs. The hospitality industry is a "service" industry. You go to a restaurant and you are greeted and served by a "server". For the description "SP" it may be a question of avoiding stereotypical thinking. For example, I believe that the the gents know that if an SP is contacted by a potential client the SP is most concerned about what the client is like as an individual as opposed to whether the client is a "salesman", or a "construction worker", or an "accountant". The "title" or "designation" means little to them. It's the person who counts. I'm not sure if that makes a lot of sense but perhaps I can sum it up by saying that when I make a date with a lady on cerb I make a date with an individual who I hope to click with and it has worked for me.
  12. I'm not sure which thread your talking about but fact is it doesn't matter...the word is used too much..we are people too..even if it' s about an agency...i still HATE the word SP too...i think we should change it...in the US they say "providers" even that is a little better but still not cool with me..there are certainly different styles of escorts but to me sp sounds like someone working the street...you know ones that provide this for that...not offending anyone here that's for sure but i just don't like being labeled an sp and pair that with used and i'm out the door... Seeing as how I started this thread I feel obliged to continue. Frankly, I don't know what the preferred designation of the ladies on cerb should be - LOCs???? I am more concerned with the the level of respect shown to the LOCs. Interestingly, or not, no responses from the gents so far. ________
  13. think I know which thread you are talking about and yes, at first I got upset but then as I kept reading I found the member that replied referring to the SP in question with the word 'used' thought it was an agency or that's the impression I got, I guess if he reads this he'll clarify that for us. __________________ For me, I don't think it matters if the lady is independent or works for an agency, it's the attitude of the hobbiest. I may not be the most popular guy to bring this to everyone's attention, but so it goes.
  14. Maybe I'm overly sensitive, but I have to tell you that I do cringe when I see posts asking if members if someone has "used" a particular SP.. "Using" an SP seems to me to be contrary to the principles of CERB and it tends to objectify the ladies, a principle that all the members otherwise (pre)tend to disavow. Personally, I don't believe in "using' anyone. I would be interested in what the SPs in particular say about this. If some gents want to save face, now's the time.
  15. being a Dad can be a tough job. I am blessed with wonderful kids. I often wonder where they came from?? ha ha
  16. "I was once a man ... can't speak for daddio or pjrd ..." OMG - I seem to have inadvertently created a controversy greater than Robert Green's (England's goal keeper) awful fumble. Now, as far as WIT's comment about once being a man but not being able to speak for me, well, I can understand the confusion when a man wears a kilt. Believe me, there is nothing so refreshing as wearing the kilt in a fresh breeze. It prevents vital organs from getting overheated. There is an old, old story whereby a lady asks a man in a kilt if anything is worn under the kilt. The answer: "No madam, everything is in perfect working order." Given my mileage over so many years, I do occasionally need an inspection, and I'm always welcome to new inspectors???
  17. Glad you think I'm a bbw daddio..haha i don't think i would be considered one..but hey thanks for the assurance..anyway this thread isn't about me or other average size ladies..it's about the BBW..BBW and the fact that there are not many reco's on them but if you look at the spinner reco's you will see a lot. ______ OMG, this is a public apology Emma. I thought that BBW referred to big breasts. Which, when I think about it, obviously doesn't make any sense in the context of your post. But that's what happens when your brain is between your legs thinking of a beautiful woman like you!!! Sorry Emma.
  18. I may be exposing my country of origin, Scotand, but England were crap. They don't have world class players who can impose themselves in a game without the help of the rest of the team Rooney is a world class player but the game vs the US showed how he can be kept out of a game. Milner - the most improved player in the English Premier League subbed off about 20 minutes into the game. Don't just blame Green. The whole team carries the responsibility.
  19. I would recommend you any time Emma. And it's not just because you are a BBW, it's because of your personality. You are so warm and friendly and, despite being nervous about meeting you, you certainly made me feel very comfortable whenever I've met you. I'm not sure if that answers your question, but maybe it will send a message to the cerb guys that you are a woman definitely worth seeing.
  20. could not agree more! Yeah Steve, she is an exceptional lady. So warm, affectionate and considerate. The only problem is that if she was in Atlantic Canada full time I may go bankrupt!! lol
  21. An old one I know but ... for all those with SOs - If a man is alone in the forest and makes a decision does his wife still think he's wrong?
  22. Emily gets hotter with every visit to Halifax. This time around she was so hot that I spontaneously combusted and set the napkins we had for our snack on fire. Proceedings were interrupted while Emily ran to the bathroom to extinguish the fire. Fortunately the fire alarm didn't go off. And I was still on fire. So guys, if you can't stand the heat in the bedroom Emily is not the lady for you!!!!!!!!
  23. Ride a bike? Ask me about custom leather care I haven't come across the book you are asking about but I ride a bike year round in Halifax so the above quote made me curious????
  24. Hi Erin: I've just finished reading Jose Saramago's "Death With Interruptions." I've also read his "Blindness" and "Seeing". He is a brilliant writer with a very interesting style. I'm struggling through Nabovko's "Pale Fire". He, too, is a brilliant writer but this book hasn't engaged me, unlike "Lolita" and another book of his the title of which escapes me at the moment. I've also started "The Epic of Gilgamesh" - still wading through the intro and haven't yet reached the epic itself. Hopefully it is epic. If you're interested in modern history try Margaret MacMillan's "Paris 1919" and "Nixon China." She has to the the best current writer of history. I could go on ... and on ... and on! If you want some gems of modern Scottish literature let me know!
  25. I was hoping for a Brazil v Spain final - both have somewhat suspect defences and Spain sure knows how to play attacking football. Mind you Dunga has apparently imposed more discipline on Brazil so maybe Spain v Argentina would make for a better spectacle. Who wouldn't want Messi to be in the final?? I'm from Scotland so I couldn't stand it if England made to the final, wouldn't be able to show my face for weeks!!!!!!!! lol I'd love to see one of the African teams make it to the semis.
