Sometimes my posts are too serious, so I thought I'd post this silly idea I had. I've seen situations (terrorists, hostages, etc.) where a photo or video is released to the public, and an accurate sports score or recent newspaper is announced/shown to prove that the photo/video is recent. Do you have one yet? I have several goals relating to my education, finances, and health. I try to choose relatively modest goals so I don't give up. What are you goals for 2012? Do you remember your goals for 2011?

I've given gifts in the past, but most of my clients are married so they might have a bit of trouble explaining the gift LOL :)

I personally do not offer discounts, etc. when I cancel appointments, but I hardly ever cancel and if I do so, it's for sickness (and once I cancelled because my cat had a medical emergency and died 2 hours later). If I forgot an appointment or did anything other than cancel with as much notice as possible for a good reason, I would offer something in return. I'm very organized, punctual and reliable, and expect the same of my clients! When I cancel due to illness, I try and give at least 12-24 hours notice as I can usually feel something coming on. I email them to cancel, asking them to let me know they got the message, and I let them know I will be in touch as soon as I'm better. Once I'm better, I email the clients I cancelled on and offer them "first dibs" to reschedule, before I start advertising again. I do this delicately, and not in a way to pressure them to reschedule. It may very well be that they wanted a massage that Saturday and when I cancelled, they booked with another lady. I respect that! My experience, though, is that most reschedule and appreciate being given "first dibs."

Jabba, in asking myself, should I charge a cancellation fee? If so, how much? I would ask myself several questions, including: Is he a new client? What kind of impression do I have of him? Has he cancelled before? Has he proven to be reliable by showing up to past appointments on time? Is he a good regular client? Has he done this to other ladies that I'm aware of? What reason did he give for a cancellation? How much notice did he give? Did he apologize? Given all these variables, it's impossible for me to have a set "cancellation policy." As I've already said in this thread, it's important for me to develop not just regular business, but quality regular clients who respect me and my time. If a client cancelled without giving me reasonable notice or a decent reason, I would hope he would offer to make it up to me somehow, or ask me what he could do to make it up. I would do the same if I were retaining someone's services (eg. tutoring services, RMT massage, etc.) in that if I cancelled without giving reasonable notice, I would offer to make it up to them, regardless of what cancellation policy they may have because, well, that's just being a decent human being.

For me, a cancellation fee is something that is subjective, so it will never be something that I advertise.

If I don't care for a particular thread, I just won't click on it. If I find a thread offensive, I think I'm within my right to see what others think and possibly request that it be removed.

Not if I could have seen a different client to take your place who would have shown up for all 5 appointments, or compensated me if he missed one.

One problem with the rating of incalls is that we often change where we work.

While I fully agree with you 100% that people who do not need priority seating should offer their seats to those who need it, I will point out that not every disability/special need is visible and we should reserve judgement.

I remember when I was doing massage out of a hotel, a few of my clients had been to meetings at the hotel. It felt extra-naughty for them to sneak off for a nice lunch break! :)

"Proper notice" is subjective. Most of my appointments are booked 1-3 days in advance, and if you give me 12 hours notice, there is a slim chance I will be able to fill your spot. That being said, I still abide by what I said previously in this thread, that is being understanding but reasonable about cancellations.

I don't have an official cancellation policy and I prefer to handle each case individually. I'm generally quite understanding the first time someone cancels, especially when notice is given, or cancellations by regular clients who have a proven track-record of being reliable. For last-minute or second cancellations by new clients, I generally won't see them again unless they offer to pay a cancellation fee in advance of the next appointment. My inclination is generally to put them on my own personal "do not see" list, but if they would like to book with me again, the ball is in their court to offer to pay a fee and to get it to me in a way that is acceptable to me. Maybe I'm being a bit idealistic, but if a gentleman has wasted my time, I think he should offer to compensate me for that. I don't think I should have to ask. If he's not a gentleman, I have no interest in meeting with him.
