Interesting characters around town
Old Dog replied to capitalman's topic in Ottawa Discussion - Escorts
I work on Laurier at Metcalfe.... just around the main branch of the public library. Everyday we see a wide and varied cast of characters. 1. The multicolored guy: Gaunt Haitian guy in home made shoes (tape and plastic bags) and a home made suit (matching pants and shirt) made out of some fuzzy multi coloured striped material. Usually seen carrying a sign about the end of the world. A couple of winters ago I felt so bad for him, I offered to take him up to Zellers to buy him some boots. He refused saying that the good lord would provide. 2. Cigarette butt lady: Tiny little thing that collects cigarette butts from around the library when she is not composing letters to Stephen Harper. Wears a powder blue parka and toque year round (yes, even last week when it was a bajillion degrees outside.) Makeup is unique, looks like she was a fluffer girl in 1950s porn. 3. Pigeon man: Has the afternoon shift outside the public library right under the book deposit slots. Has a sign decrying "hobophobia" and is usually found in the company of pigeons... lots of them. 4. Angry Bandana man: Bearded ill tempered man who has stations up and down Metcalfe from Laurier up to Albert. Not really sure whether he has the success level of other panhandlers; normally people will walk a wide circle around him or cross the street to avoid him. -

One of Life's Valuable Lessons Learned.....
Old Dog replied to 777flyer's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
777 .... I have been where your friend was, and am now living where your friend is. Eight years ago I spent a month in hospital awaiting surgery. It had been a tough two years prior... my marriage had ended, my career was stagnant, my kids were distant, my house was no longer my home. Two days prior to my surgery my ex wife arrived at the hospital with my divorce papers; the same day I found out that the girl I had been dating was seeing another guy. It was, without a doubt the lowest point in my life. The night before the surgery I had an epiphany. The doctor had said that the surgery, although rather routine, did carry some level of risk. He said that 30% of all patients in my situation die on the table. It was at that moment that I made a promise to myself. I said that if I made it through, my life was going to change. Positive change. I made a commitment to myself that life was not going to be an eternal misery preceding a rather inglorious end. Two days later, I woke up. I felt like absolute crap, and there were tubes in places I had no idea they could go (side note: you don't realize a catheter is in you until they take it out... YOUCH!!!!)... but I was alive. Since that day I have appreciated life to the fullest. I will admit that my life is not all sunshine, rainbows and unicorns... nobody's life is... and I do have my absolutely crappy days... but most days I wake up happy to be alive. I have more friends than I know what to do with... my kids are the joy of my life... and I really SEE the world for what it is, and it is a good place. Like you, I am not a religious guy.... but seeing the world through rose coloured glasses is a wonderful thing! -

My vote still stands that he turned gay on the way over.... -
a few more... Love will tear us apart - Joy Division... if you ever wanted to know where and when "new wave" began... it was in Manchester and it started with this song.... fantastic! ABC - The Jackson 5. Weird huh??? Not really... I wasn't a huge fan until I saw it in Clerks II a few years back... and now I have a true appreciation for the song. Birds Fly (whisper to a scream)... Icicle works. One of the quintessential songs of the 80's.... a must listen. Aa Tayar Hoja - Sunidhi Chauhan. A Bollywood tune, with a great beat and a fantastic video... in fact, this video from the movie piqued my interest in Indian girls... yummy!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBwSD6sADIQ Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen. Nuff said. Kiss - Tom Jones. Prince's song done by a man.

I tried that once. I said "goodbye." She said, "I want the house." I couldn't top that. -

Great thread!!!! I have a few that always grab my attention whenever they come on the radio.... and I will never change stations when any of these come on.... Can't Buy Me Love/I Wanna Hold your Hand - the Beatles... I think of all the Beatles songs, these have shown their vocal abilities and harmony skills... classics. What the World Needs Now - Jackie DeShannon... I don't know why, this is just one of those songs that hits me. I met Burt Bacharach about 15 years ago and told him about it, he was really appreciative of the support. Meglio Stasera - Fran Jeffries... this one is obscure, but it's one of those songs that embodies the sound of 1960's lounge music. Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer - Nat "King" Cole ... another one of those songs that floods back childhood memories. Wheel in the Sky/Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' - Journey... ahh misspent youth. This was the music of summer and my last teen years.... Kiss on my List - Hall & Oates ... the summer of my millionaire girlfriend (okay it wasn't hers, it was her dad's millions).... she was without a doubt the absolute BEST kisser of any girl I ever dated. Boogie Wonderland - Earth, Wind & Fire ... try to stand still when this song comes on... Dreamer - Supertramp ... a high school song that just hits home. Evil Woman - ELO ... okay, it reminds me of the ex wife.... Tempted (by the fruit of another) - Squeeze... one of those songs that helped me move on when times were bad. Misunderstanding - Genesis .... another song about love lost.... I should stop now... but there are more....

I have a theory, and like most of my theories it's based totally on conjecture and probably as lame as all hell. I have seen your pics Jazy and there can only be one explanation... spontaneous human combustion. He was driving over to your place and burst into a flaming homosexual. That is only my thought though... very little science went into that.... -
World Cup Predictions

Gotta say... I was cheering for Holland to win but I couldn't have been been more disappointed with the quality of play in the last two rounds. Kudos to Spain for the victory, but let's hope that 2014 brings us much better action. -
To Snip or Not to Snip?? That is the Question
Old Dog replied to CMJ's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
So, in your opinion, men with circumcised penises don't feel as much pleasure???? I have to disagree... why would we be having sex if that was the case???? Like 777 said, it may desensitize over time, but that makes the experience last longer, stimulating the brain and making the overall experience very pleasurable. -

But Nadia... that is a fallacy. It doesn't make it less pleasurable. -
To Snip or Not to Snip?? That is the Question
Old Dog replied to CMJ's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Circumcision is a matter of choice, plain and simple. In the secular world the option still remains for it to be done or not and I can assure you it is not a decision to be taken lightly. I was fortunate enough not to have to make it; I have two beautiful daughters and not sons. As has been stated before, this is an issue that evokes a great deal of passion, and to this end I myself have been passionate in the defense of my parents and their decision to circumcise their four sons. As 777 stated, the decision to make the boys match dad probably was the principle argument; however, at the time (late 50's through the mid 60's) most male children born in North America (as many as 85% in 1965) were circumcised. My argument is neither pro or anti circumcision; the males in this debate represent both sides. We live and thrive with the equipment we have, whether modified or not. We are here because we love the company of women. What is clear is that the poll has returned (thus far) a virtual dead heat regarding circumcision. CMJ, I do believe that the opinions expressed have touched on a number of issues that may influence your decision. I am sure that you will make it based on the best possible future for your son. Regardless of that decision, may you and yours enjoy a healthy and prosperous future together... and congratulations! -
To Snip or Not to Snip?? That is the Question
Old Dog replied to CMJ's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Jazzi... that'd be kinda scary. If they did the transplant and you saw something really exciting, your eyelids would retract until you cried!!! Additional Comments: mutilate [ˈmjuːtɪˌleɪt]vb (tr)1. (Medicine / Pathology) to deprive of a limb, essential part, etc.; maim; dismember http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=3508 Foreskin: The fold of skin which covers the head (the glans) of the penis. Also called the prepuce. Only about 1 in every 20 boys is born with a retractable foreskin. This reflects the fact that the histologic (tissue) development of the foreskin is usually not complete at birth. The foreskin is thus not fully separable from the glans in about 96% of newborn boys. By a year of 1 year, the foreskin can be retracted in 50% of boys and by 3 years, the foreskin can be retracted in 80% to 90% of uncircumcised boys. Newborn circumcision diminishes the risk for cancer of the penis and lowers the risk for cancer of the cervix in sexual partners. It also decreases the risk of urinary tract infections and lowers the risk of sexually transmitted diseases, including especially HIV (from MedicineNet.com) We will have to agree to disagree. As I stated before, I feel neither mutilated nor do I feel that my parents committed an atrocity; being the owner/operator of a circumcised penis makes me uniquely qualified to form that opinion. -
If it's any consolation Cato, I like your pic better too!!!!
