  1. Sorry, I thought I had mentioned it, but I only meant to. I explicitly asked her about the two name thing and she says she thinks it drums up more business. Consistency and branding and all that would seem a better strategy to me, but I have no evidence to support that.
  2. For Canadian companies, contact them and tell them not to do it. When they do it again, go to the government's website and drill down to the privacy commissioner's website. Use the PIPEDA law to hurt them. (http://www.priv.gc.ca/information/02_05_d_08_e.asp) You can get software that uses pre-established spam filters and can learn more for you personally as you train it. Spam Assassin is one example.
  3. I cannot strongly enough recommend against any of those WYSIWYG programmes. The code produced is awful beyond belief. Just learn what you are doing. Takes little extra effort and costs less. Read the manual to start http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/REC-html401-19991224/ HTML 5 is still being developed, but here is a good start after you learn HTML basics in general. http://diveintohtml5.info/ Once you have a grip on HTML follow the links to learn about CSS to create the presentation. Most importantly, ask questions online. You can ask me for starters. I have little doubt other CERB members would offer to answer questions as well. There are HTML/Web related newsgroups under the comp.infosystems.authoring hierarchy. The National Centre for Supercomputing Applications used to have the most wonderful, kick, perfect primer on HTML. Then they just took it down getting worrid about keeping up small details like new tags and such as opposed to allowing it stand as the fantastic overall concepts it was. The page now links to other tutorials. It is at http://archive.ncsa.illinois.edu/primer.html. I am going to mention it twice now because it is the best and most important thing in creating your own site -ask questions when help is needed.
  4. So I saw Daisy/Rainbow. The different names were on the same website, and they openly showed the same phone number and seemed like she was not trying to hide anything. So I called again and after speaking to her she seemed perfectly fine, so I gave her a try. The location seems like a safe neighbourhood, but it is crowded, felt like many people were watching me. Surely that was my paranoia. Daisy is legitimate, i.e. not a scam, not a robber in waiting, not a serial killer, etc. She is a service provider. A recommendation would be difficult to write because I want to be positive and am worried I will be misunderstood. She was nice and friendly and all that, but there are some things guys should know. Not negative, just you should know and depending on your preferences these may or may not be bad or good for you. So to be fair you should know these things, and I am positive on her, but just be saying these things publicly it could be misconstrued as being negative. So no problem with her, nice lady, but PM for details so you know everything. I told her about CERB. She seemed very interested.
  5. Puppy Linux is specifically designed for super low end computers. nothing wrong with it, but it starts with the presumption that you would not be using something like a recent desktop for it which could be restraining. I have used it though I do admit it flies and feels great. There are many testimonials on its website of users using it as their primary system on a full fledged modern desktop though. They came up with a package system at one point. Oh yeah that's right, the dot pet format. Menu > Setup > Puppy Package Manager. See http://puppylinux.org/wikka/Software. Multisystem is a programme that will take any ISO of software that can be a LiveCD and make it bootable off of a USB memory stick. Regardless, I am sure Mint does that itself. You can install Mint and Puppy and boot between them, but switch over instantly, no. You can though run one and then the other inside a virtual machine which is close. I recommend VirtualBox for this. Calibre is an epub reading programme. It is the software centre, and there is a download form the Calibre website to install it on any other distro using some Python command.
  6. Should have said something when I saw her in 2010 but others had covered it. Now that Chrystal is returning to Halifax soon I thought I should add my voice to those stating how good she is. Perfect for a guy like me who likes tall brunettes. Even if you are not specifically into that, I am sure you will find her hot and sexy. Goes out of her way to make you comfortable and she immediately started to suse out what i was like and tried to appeal to me. I can tell she has the psychological part of her job well practised and developed. I made an incidental comment about how at the time lots of great sounding companions were visiting Halifax. She asked for details and instead of saying she was better than the competition or told me the nice things she knew about those I mentioned. In once case she insisted I make an appointment because she was sure I would enjoy the person mentioned. The timing is probably bad for me for this visit, which is a shame. Otherwise I would see her, and maybe I will still try. Want to, for sure.
  7. No news yet. Was a bit concerned when I finally noticed she runs another ad with a different name on the same site. However it did not try to hide the fact too much -pictures that show a face, same phone number, so it had some openness to it. the second ad was for "Dash Rainbow". Received one email response, implied phoning was better. Took 3 calls before I got ahold of her, no problem, not everyone can talk all the time or have their phone on their person all the time. After talking to her on the phone, she seems alright. No bad vibes, does not sound she was trying to hide anything. So I am going ahead to try and book a time. It turns out she did not have much availability when I called. We agreed to try and get together soon. Will report back to the team if we do.
  8. Do not want to speak for the original poster, but it seems obvious he means the red head named Crystal who advertises on other sites. She really intrigues me and I would like to meet her sometime. Some commented on Chrystal from Montreal then realised the error and mentioned the mistake in identity. However, because she is making a visit to Halifax soon, I wanted to say the Chrystal from Montreal is pretty good. I saw her a long time back (18 months) and liked it. To be fair I should forewarn everyone I like tall women and Chrystal bears a strong resemblance to my friend who I really want to have sex with. So seeing her subconsciously hit all the right notes/biases with me. Still though, really I cannot think a straight guy would not like Chrystal. She is impressive. Will add my voice to those wanting to know about the red head one. Definitely want to meet her too.
  9. Sandimoon: I am glad that things are better now. Thank you for your kind words left on my profile page. It is too bad I cannot use "Stranger from Vancouver I never met and whose job requires discretion so I cannot really identify her says I am really good." on my IT résumé. :-) You use Ubuntu, made a Bueller. reference and watch the Big Bang Theory on television. Rather disappointed that you are on the other side of the country. Some tips to leave you with. They may have improved it with 4, but to really get it working, after installing libdvdread you need to run a script that it installed on your computer. Please make sure you did that if need be. I sent you to a document on it right? I am sure you will be OK if you read the whole page. Compiz is OK to have on the system. It can be activated and dedicativedat will through some setting. If it is siomething you like, keep that in mind. Turn it off when it interferes and keep it on the rest of the time. I have no use for it, so it is off, but I am glad it exists to show off the system when needed. You may want to check out Mint Linux. It is Ubuntu with much of the above already set for you, plus a customised Gnome 3 environment that makes Gnome 3 and Unity usable on a desktop. Just search the web for "Mint Linux".
  10. Ah, yes, the Unity interface. The whole industry is forcing us to turn out desktops into phones and tablets. You may want to try one of the Ubuntu derivatives like Kubuntu or Lubuntu. underneath they are the same, but the GUI is more traditional and not about cracking the phone market. The Additional Drivers toll (jokey) does not load drivers over a certain age. Would be good to know what your video card mode and make is. LibDVDread works wonders after it is installed. Do not give up.
  11. You said they installed a different OS. Different than Ubuntu? Different version? Please be more specific in that regard for best help. Assuming it is still Linux based here is my first guess. Videos are DVD rips. If this is the case, you will need to install DeCSS in order to decode them. Once I know what OS we are talking about I can provide more specific advice. If it is Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Lubuntu, etc, etc go through the following. Install ubuntu-restricted-extras package through the software centre/synaptic. After that, follow the instructions from here:https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/PlayingDVDs Turning off compiz is a catch all solution that solves hundreds of problems. Are you sure the 3D drivers are even activated? That could explain some things. Ask if you need help with this, but they are under either "Additional Drivers" or "Restricted Drivers". Flash sucks. Alot. Flash on Linux is forgotten about. It may be just that for YouTube, but installing the above things may help fix it too. Would like to know what you mean by "different OS" and what you have for a video card for better help. Will be willing to help via real time chat, remote desktop control, etc if it comes down to it. I realise the above is very general and probably not very helpful, you probably went through much already. Those are my first thoughts and as we know more we can help further. Good luck.
  12. Not from Ottawa so i am afraid I cannot help, but I will warn you to stay away from the big chains. Very especially Best Buy. Search the consumerist website for Geek Squad if you want to know why and spend a few hours being horrified. Asking for recommendations is a good thing as most tech support is overpriced. xBen: Meg strikes me as someone who could figure it out by searching the web, or asking on Usenet, but she may not have the time or like many people the confidence that she could. Trust me there are people who could not solve their issue by searching the web because they just do not know what to look for. Also, what if it is a serious hardware issue? Google isn't going to tell you the power unit is messed up. I do agree almost all tech support is overpriced. My suggestion would be for Meg to do what she did -ask for suggestions for a good place for it.
  13. Yes, it does just image searching. It is very useful, you can put in the URL to an image and it will seee if the image matches the database. It obviously cannot hold all the images in the world, but it claims to have indexed a huge number. The matching is based on the photo itself, not a description or meta-data or somesuch. Just because an image is not identified by Tineye does not mean it is real, but it is a good idea to use the service because when it does find other copies of the image it can give you enough info to know something is up.
  14. Hello, all. There is an on BP entitled "A new girl ,for Halifax...NEW. - 27" and the user calls herself Daisy. The photos pass Tineye. They appear plausible and realistic. Her email reply seemed sensible. Before I TOFTT I thought I should check with CERB readers just in case. Has anyone meet with Daisy? Thanks.
  15. I could fill your hard drive full of brain fart storeis about myself if I could remember them all. For your amusement I will tell you of my grand fart of brain farts. Perhaps not in mental capacity terms, but in definitely in terms of embarrassment it was the top story. On a BBS I used to frequent we had a room called "Geek of the Week" in which we told stories of social faux pas and this one won me the award. I causally picked up a photo displayed in the room of my friend who was about 29 at the time and went back to school. She was living in student residence for awhile at the time. This photo featured a group shot and I asked who this group was. Before my friend could finish her I interrupted and said "Woah. Wow! Who is the blonde chick on the far right." My friend replied "That's me at 18." Long pause... "Do you think I was that much better looking then than now? I was thinner then I think, what do you think?" Still do not remember how I got out of there. The rest is a panic induced blank in my memory. For the record though she did not look that different, pretty much the same, I have no idea how i did not recognise her in the photograph.

    Secure blog?

Wordpress is a service and a piece of software. Your friend could add extra security by installing the software on her own host and setting up passwords, etc with the hosting company. She could also start a Diaspora seed which offers tight and granular security. (http://diasporaproject.org)
  17. Sent you a PM. Although I should only really being pay attention to the content of the picture I do often find myself thinking what I like about this a photograph when I view the pictures in the Babe of the Day, I love Boobies and Frigging Hot Fripples threads. My experience is not much, but it may be good enough. Please read the PM for details.
  18. I am trying. Unable to schedule with her despite trying a few times. Hopefully the times I asked her about in my most recent communication are available. Maybe she has gotten sick of dealing with me though with my crazy schedule. :-) If not and we make an appointment I will get back to you/everyone.
  19. hoji: I tried looking up info on who I would recommend, but there websites are gone, there account here unused for a long, long time, etc, etc. Signs they may have moved, left the business, etc. Perhaps they changed agencies, working names or something, but regardless I cannot find a way to contact them for you to use. I may take a trip to Toronto this summer. If I do what I will be doing hobby wise as some might say is visiting the Garden of Eden Escorts website. If a profile intrigues me I would check out CERB for reviews. The reason is because they have sent many fine service providers our way. It is a financial risk, but they took it, it worked out, they sent more. They are very helpful and polite both over email and the phone. "Regular" businesses could learn from them. Not that I checked out every SP they sent, but of the ones I met with, 100% of the garden of eden ladies them provided a very positive experience for me. Some better than others, all good though. And I want to reward them for sending to Halifax some great visitors.
  20. I meet SPs in the cave under my house and my butler Alfred covers for me usually. Being single it is easy for me. I do not want the fact i am doing this broadcast to the world, so I might have to lie about where I am going "Have to run to the city for some special errands." if I run into somewhere on my out, but otherwise it is just a mater of not telling anyone for me. My reason for posting the following is so others can enjoy the irony. I am not trying to rub it in anyone's face or anything. Until recently I had a job (I work in the same place different department) where 99% of my co-workers were women. We have a high turn over and I was there for years, so i knew allot about the operation, which is 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They depended on me for allot. It makes me sigh about how the world works. Many of you need add so much extra secrecy to your communications and I, a single person, spent years living a life where getting calls from strange women regularly at all times of the day was completely normal for and logically expected from others.
  21. Destiny, it sounds like you handled it very well. You were polite and straight forward in the reply and you seeked help/helped others by warning everyone with your posting. I know it has been said already, but it bears saying again, if a service provider chooses to post a photo of her face then she can, but it is completely logical and understandable if she does not. Being surrounded by photographers, including a full time professional I have stupid thoughts in my head about your photos regarding the lighting, however for the most part I just went "Wow". That shot with partial exposure of your lips is terrfic. It is original and despite not being able to see your face something about just wows a guy and makes one think "She has to be telling the truth about how being that attractive." Even though one does not know for sure, the image just makes you think that way. When a picture generates a reaction beyond its contents you have a great photo. It is one thing to just say "I will choose to see service providers who post face photos." Sure, whatever. It is a whole other thing to make threats to get one. Definitely name names behind the scenes with the mod and perhaps tell a few SPs with access to the SPs only area. Someone who behaves like that has the potential to someone you don't want to see.
  22. Sending advice via PM. Wrote big long message, worried the agency in question will see it. Do not how to delete message so I edited entire thing.
  23. Hello, Jessica. We all know and love photoshop, but you may not love it enough to pay the huge price tag. As an alternative you could try the GIMP. The GIMP is free. The GIMP has a foreground selection tool for these purposes. You use a lasso like tool to draw a rough outline of the object to be isolated away from the background. Then paint with broad strokes over some of the area to be selected. This helps the computer make intelligent guess. Then another tool lets you fine tune the edges. It is fast and does not require too much precision on your part for many photos. Some complicated ones, it will. After extracting the object from the background (this tip applies to any software used for this function) select the empty background, then grow the selection by one pixel. You should have the edge of the subject (I guess in this case a photo of you) selected, but only one pixel all over the edge of the subject. Then blur that one pixel a tiny bit. This reduces the sharpness of the cut and makes the isolated subject look more natural relative to the new background. Depending on the contrast altering the lightness of the photo may help this process. Then return to the original lighting settings after the selection of the subject to be isolated has been made. Please feel free to ask me for further help if you so wish. I can even give advice on the best specific route to take if I can see the original image. Additional Comments: i am an idiot, I can't believe I forgot about the Resynthesizer plug-in for GIMP. When the researchers came up with the general concepts and released example code I was following it. Very excited when someone made a GIMP plug-in then I forgot about it. This plug-in for GIMP is also free. It is meant to in very few steps remove one subject from a photo then fill in the empty in such a way as to make it look like it belongs with the rest of the picture. Now I understand this is not what you need. but the software is so advanced that it makes a good "remove object from background" type tool as well. You can just Google "Resynthesizer plug-in" and find it The GIMP manual advises how to install plug-ins, but regardless, I am still available to help you if you like.
  24. Happy Belated, Keissy. Very disappointed I missed you on your last visit.
  25. Chanel, thanks for replying that was interesting to know. Sounds like you are very thoughtful in your work.
