And how has this discussion gotten this far without mentioning SaraMQ? Famous in her own right and occasional partner-in-crime with Malika. If I were dying this afternoon and needed one last shot before I went, Sara would get a call. :)

Once upon a time, The Silver Dollar lived way far away on the spectrum from flashy, glitzy clubs. It had a down-home, comfortable feel to it where you could feel comfortable in your blue-collar work clothes. Very much like a neighbourhood bar that happened to be strippers. In my corporate life the Buck was part of the standard Visiting Businessmen's night on the town. In fact, several of our most successful products were designed on napkins there. I've always thought of the Dollar's alternate names (The Buck, The Dirty Nickel, what have you) as being affectionate appellations to a down-scale place which often has the prettiest, nicest, most social performers. If you haven't been there, you have not truly experienced the entire Ottawa SC scene.

In case anyone was struck by the negative fashion in which I see this whole Court challenge thing going, I should clarify something. I'm in one of those moods where some people see the glass half full, some see it as half empty and I see it as just another damn dish to be washed. All will be better soon, one way or the other. (Look closely at the avatar.)

Just some observations. I don't listen to CFRA very often. I did today, briefly, while this issue was discussed and remembered why I don't listen. The Harper Government (remember, we don't have a Government of Canada anymore, it is "The Harper Government") will appeal this absolutely to death. When they are finally wrestled to the mat by the courts, they will rewrite the laws to conform to the Court's decision to the absolute minimum. This is, after all, The Government That Fun Forgot. Moments later, municipalities and provinces will move in with highly restrictive and expensive fees, licenses and inspections. They will also most likely put in distance restrictions that will effectively ban all activity anywhere that people might actually be. Not to equate the two (though they are equated in the minds of folks making policy these days), this map defining where sex offenders are banned in Wichita is informative. Essentially, all of the city streets fall into the restricted zone. And once the kerfuffle is over and all the self-righteous folks who wish to determine what is best for everyone else feel proud of what they have achieved no matter what the cost might be in human suffering and loss if dignity, we will go back to life as it was on March 25. Just my thoughts..

(I'll be kind and answer the question asked.) Yes. But I will not entertain follow-up questions. :)

I tagged CERB as a Favorite so I have no trouble accessing the site through Tapatalk. Thus, this thread didn't make any sense to me. Then, in a rare fit of brilliance, I tried the Search function and saw what you saw (or, more precisely, what you did not see). No CERB. So I see it because I tagged it, but someone just starting on Tapatalk is not going to find it. I tried keyword and category searches. I also took a quick glance at the Tapatalk users forum and didn't see anything useful. So... don't know where that leaves it. Just my two cent's worth.

Get Home by Sarah Slean
bcguy42 replied to bcguy42's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
To clarify, when I said this was not autobiographical, I was talking about the scenario I described between the SP and client, But thanks for the information about how Sarah came to write the song. She describes her situation well. -
My phone reads my incoming messages to me. When setting up the phone I had a choice between a male or female voice. Through a roundabout way, postings to "I like boobies" get sent to my phone. I swear the woman blushes when she says "I like boobies". Oh, and obligatory boob related link:

Could it be that as you've not seen a response to this question that that is the answer? This is an interesting issue in that our electronic "toys" have become so integrated into our lives that it is hard to envision all of us putting them down because they were produced under less than desirable conditions. I would wager that almost anyone reading this is using a device made by Foxconn or someone similar. The question becomes whether or not we as consumers are willing to stop supporting that activity by not buying. My guess is - when it comes down to it - no, we will not. Enjoy those iPads out there. :)

Follow-on article to the one just posted regarding Joe Paterno. Warning: this is really emotional but someone must speak for these people. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/01/26/1058599/-%E2%80%9CNo-One-Spoke-Up-for-Us:-For-The-Children-Who-Had-No-Voice-and-For-those-finally-finding-Theirs Sent from my BlackBerry 9780 using Tapatalk

This question is actually trickier that it first appears since most states define a prison cell as a semi-public space. There are a few court cases working their way through the system related to this. Slate has a very good article that explores the topic very well: http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/science/2012/01/should_prison_inmates_have_the_right_to_masturbate_.single.html

You might want to PM the posters in the other thread. That might work better than a "general call". Just thinking...

My advice with meatloaf? Bake it when you make it. Sounds simple, yes? My mother used to make a meatloaf that was suitable for any occasion, including High Holy Family Gatherings. I got the recipe from her and the other cook here decided we would have it for supper the next evening. She was in that phase where she put whatever supper was going to be in the stove and set the timer to start at the appropriate time. She put the meatloaf in the oven, ground beef, eggs, and all, and let it sit all day and cook just before we got home. It sucked. Not just in a passing way but so bad that this episode has made it into Official Family Lore. We're lucky we didn't die. So no meatloaf gets made here. But we do eat my mom's when we are back home. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Can men and women be just friends?
bcguy42 posted a topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
It would appear the answer is "no". Check here: I rest my case. :) -
I ran across a comment in a thread elsewhere where someone said of Denver's win "I guess Denver's God was stronger than Pittsburgh's God". This left me confused. I guess I slept through that part of Sunday School. Back in the day, I thought, in the Christian scheme of things, there was only one God. And He got all snarly if you had more than one. Other thoughts: If both sides are praying for victory, then one of them has to be disappointed. And I know He is all powerful and everything, but does all this sports praying cause Him to take his eye off the important things like Darfur? But back to Tebow and people's reaction to him: I lost interest in him back before he was drafted when his mother took the opportunity to present Tim's existance as an argument against abortion. I figured if his "camp" was going to get that far off the subject (we are talking football, right?) I was done listening.

Have you looked at Picasa from Google? It has some basic editing functions, is free, and you can add a watermark of your choosing. See http://support.google.com/picasa/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=106193 You can download Picasa here: http://picasa.google.com/

Excellent suggestion, CB. The actual name is Malwarebytes and you can download it from download.cnet.com (a great site for finding everything you can think of regarding software). For this software, the link is http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol;1 I am running AVG on one machine and Norton on my new laptop and Malwarebytes still finds things that are missed by AVG & Norton.

CERN vs cerb on my iphone
bcguy42 replied to Carrie Moon's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
The iPhone does this because Apple has heard of CERN but not CERB. Someone will correct me if I am wrong but, in theory, after you have changed CERN to CERB a few times, it is supposed to "learn" the new word and stop doing that. -
English pronunciation
bcguy42 replied to Malika Fantasy's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Well that was fun! And proof as to why English is so hard for adults to learn. It reminded me of the sentence we would have our daughters learn to pronounce correctly when they were kids: Those three trees over there. Our's is a mixed French and English household. Getting a francophone through that sentence without any "d"s was the trick. Both girls do it perfectly, by the way! -
Christmas tree confessions?
bcguy42 replied to Sensual Erin's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Ours came down January 2 which is unusually late for us. Normally it comes down on the 27th or 28th but because we were in the States until New Year's Eve the tree survived longer. Being a guy, I'd be OK with leaving it up until, what, mid-March? But someone else wants it gone as soon as decently possible. Since she is in charge of decor decisions, out the tree goes! -
An Open Letter Of Appeal To The Cerb Community
bcguy42 replied to drlove's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I'm in total agreement with the gist of this thread. CERB is a great place to visit, learn, share useful information, and extol the charms of the distaff members. I suspect that if we all act like educated compassionate adults, everything will roll along smoothly in 2012. Have a happy one, everyone! -
YMMV - A client's guide to a passionately wonderful time
bcguy42 replied to a topic in Ottawa Discussion - Escorts
Things are a little slow at work so I've just reread this whole thread. I would suggest that the thread be moved to the "Hey, if you are new, you should read this" (I forgot the actual name of the section) because there is a lot of good advice here. Not just about adjusting the nature of an encounter to maximize the benefits - I think that's the polite way to put the original question - but also some good lessons regarding posting, phrasing, and discussion. Most importantly, there is a whole lot of good advice in the thread that could lead to improved outcomes. But, of course, YMMV.
