  1. You can also use the Search function here. Either search the whole site or search the Ottawa Announcement forums. Search for Aylmer, Hull, and Gatineau and I think you will be pleased with the results. Welcome aboard!
  2. There very well be married ladies. I would assume as in any cross section of society you will find this. Is this a question I would as an SP? Not a chance! Most everyone I'm aware of goes to great lengths to maintain distance between their regular life and their working life. I respect that boundary and would never ask.
  3. 269 hours. But who's counting? It occurred to me this might be my last Social. Then I decided that regardless of how the surgery goes I'll keep going to them until they throw me out. See y'all there!
  4. What? Working names? Burner phones? Are you trying to tell me her God-given birth name isn't Loverly Snowflake? Snap! I suppose the next thing you're going to try to tell me is that wasn't her real apartment. I feel so... deceived. LOL So it goes....
  5. Though I am given to to occasional bought of silliness, this to a serious question and one not as simple as it appears. Is it better to raise your daughters to be more like your sons or raise your sons to be more like your daughters? Discuss,,,
  6. I think I can safely say that almost all guys have some kind of performance issue at some time in their life. It might be "getting there" too early, it might be a case of "getting there" not happening and any one of a number of things in between. The advice to select someone and make your arrangement is good. You can mention your concern while making said arrangement or wait and see if you are more comfortable talking about it once you're there. You won't be the first person concerned about this and I suspect you will find the issue well handled. At this point in my life, I truly enjoy the journey and, on occasion, don't arrive at the destination. A dear friend was concerned about this a while back as she'd "arrived" several times and I had not. I laughed and told her I was totally having a wonderful time, that I could arrange "getting there" all on my own any time but my time with her was here and now and all the more special because I can't arrange that all on my own. :) So take a deep breath, review the various people in your area, and go for it.
  7. I'm back now from a two week holiday with a rather fetching tan, if I do say so myself. I made a determined effort not to think about any of this while I was gone. Just before I left, they ran another test and my PSA has gone up. I've graduated from low risk to moderate risk so it is decision time. I've opted for surgery. The doc would like to do this as soon as possible but he's going to be gone for two weeks. He suggested March 26 but I'd like to continue my continuous string of Social appearances so we're shooting for April 2. Charming. Something to look forward to. Interesting side note. My research indicates that after a suitable recovery period, if he doesn't inadvertently cut a really important nerve, they advise regular "self pleasure" to ensure everything returns to as normal as possible. Shucks! Been doing that my whole life. Now I have a medical excuse for it. Also, Doc told me today that he will prescribe a daily regime of Cialis. I'm amused that he is as interested in maintaining my sex life as I am.
  8. This is a good companion piece to the one on sex-trafficking follows international events. It also helps explain how here in Canada the Christian Right "claimed" the recent hearings on that Bill. How Sex Trafficking Became a Christian Cause Célèbre
  9. And today's highlight will be boarding the ship in an hour. I will think of you all. But I will enjoy the sun and sand while I can!
  10. Highlight of the day has been waking up in Florida (#1), watching people here complaining about it only being 19C (#2), and finding some WiFi so I can give CERB a quick cruise (#3).
  11. This is for.. umm.. not exactly who this would be for. Business travelers who make friends easily? http://www.gloryholetogo.com/ This part of the FAQ was of interest: How do I clean it? We suggest you wipe it with a damp cloth to spot clean. The GHTG is made from durable double filled cotton duck canvas, the first thing we do is wash it twice, drying it on high after each wash. Allowing the canvas to dry on high heat should shrink the duck as much as it will ever shrink. You can toss it in the wash from that point on, we do suggest washing in cold water, (no bleach) and either air dry, or machine dry on low to med head. FYI... if you like you can scotchguard those "high risk of getting wet" areas, just follow the directions on the can.
  12. Emily J, this is a wonderful post. Swapping industries as you read it works perfectly. I'm not aware of any circumstance in which that which is the point to this community can be considered a necessity. We (the clients) do this because we want to, not because it is required. Yes, I agree that sometimes the drive to make an arrangement can be pretty insistent but that still leaves it as a "want", not a "need". If we (the clients) want to enter this world and make arrangements, we do so knowing the cost is what it is and it is unseemly and demeaning to both parties to insist on trying to make it otherwise. For myself, the "negotiations" take place in my head before I make contact. Something along the lines of "Oh, this person looks interesting. Hmm. It will cost this much. More than I care to spend at the moment. Ah, this person seems intriguing, too. And at a cost with which I'm comfortable." And a text, phone call, or PM as appropriate goes out. From that point, the only financial discussion is confirming that the cost is what it is. Haggling should only take place at garage sales and the like. My two bits worth...
  13. A couple of things. Regarding the bias of various health practitioners, my urologist and I joked about that. If what you have is a hammer, every problem looks like it can be solved with a hammer. Regarding mode of treatment, I'm not 100% committed to one or the other. The scheduling of surgery in November is up to me. That looks to be the best time for me to be off work for a month. According to the doc, if I tell him I want surgery now, it would be done by the end of next week. So I get to decide what gets done and when. The benefits of early detection. If I had a top end Gleason score and all that implies things would be happening very quickly with minimal choice on my part. I will never see the name of Dr. Dre the same again. Not now that DRE is a part of my life. That's Digital Rectal Exam. Never knew it had a formal name before. lol Finally, my radiology consult is next Tuesday. That was quick!
  14. I will attend if I can get a ticket. Late March, Spring threatening to arrive, sap flowing. Yes, sounds like a great time to have a party. Each one is better than the previous one and the last one was a blast so I'm looking forward to see what this one brings.
  15. Interesting that this should come up at this time. I was just thinking about this today. I spend an inordinate amount of time at Arrivals at YOW waiting for clients. More like than once it has crossed my mind that I could be watching the arrival of a lady on tour. Were I to definitively recognize someone there is no way I would signal or acknowledge that recognition. Every person with whom I have shared "time and companionship" knows my real name. It's my expectation that if someone sees me at Rona she won't yell "Hey, XXXXXX, great shag yesterday!" across the store. Likewise I would not mess with someone's cover. I did pretty well on standardized tests when I was a kid but that doesn't make me the brightest bulb in the marquee. So how come I get this and other guys don't? Come on, guys, use the big brain.
  16. My mother's poetry arrived! Item number something-or-other on the list of items that are to pass to me from my parent's estate is "Mom's Poetry". Her genealogy papers go to a sister-in-law. The poetry to me. Since August, I've been making inquiries and no one seemed to know anything. One of my brothers is fundamentally upset when anything from the family leaves the country i.e goes to Canada. Me suspicion was that he and the aforementioned sister-in-law were hiding them. Lo and behold, said brother sent me a text out of the blue saying the files had been found and were on their way. Now two cartons of files are sitting there staring at me. They cover a long period including the last notebook she worked with right at the end. It is very moving to read her poetic observations as she commented during her increasingly shorter, more widely spaced periods of lucidity. There is much comfort in hearing her voice again. That's my highlight for the day. And for many days to come.
  17. Btw... If the environmental impact of single-service coffee pods is of concern, I would surmise that one is not getting their coffee from Tim Horton's, Starbucks, McDonalds or any of the other purveyors of single serve coffee. It is a fair guess that the vast majority of those cups and lids end up in the garbage. Ever notice that the Recycling stations at Tim Horton's considers the cups, lids, and their paper bags to be trash? And then there are all those cups that end up on the ground.
  18. My contribution to this is going to run on a bit. Apologies in advance. I have a Keurig, the 1.0 version, and love it. It makes exactly one cup of coffee just the way I like it. I am the only person at my house that drinks coffee. It has always been this way. Over the years I've tried every variation on how to make "one" coffee. Grinding my own beans. Instant. Buying ground coffee and using filters and French Presses. All of this took either too much work, was too messy, and/or resulted in too much coffee that ended up being tossed. A couple of years ago the place where we holiday in the summer changed out their Mr. Coffee for a Keurig for their morning free cup of coffee. Tried it. Loved it. Got one for my birthday and have been enjoying it since. I tried a whole lot of different brands and types of coffee before settling on a "light" and a "dark" coffee for daily use. Now, I stumble into the kitchen after I wake up and 98 seconds later walk out with my opening shot of caffeine. Several people have commented they didn't care for the taste. IMHO they didn't try the right coffee. As with everything else, a little experimentation is good for finding the right one. For that reason, I shy away from Costco's 100 pak. That's not a purchase. That's a commitment! Keurig 2.0. Keurig's patent on K-cups ran out in 2012. As others have noted, the money is not in selling the machines. It's in the cups. With 2.0, they introduced technology to "recognize" the cup. I think they are using RFID. The claim is that this allows them to adjust the brew process to the specific coffee. Maybe so. More importantly, it allows them to reject non-Keurig cups. If monopolies bother you, move along, I guess. K-cups are not recyclable. Yet. If this is an issue, then move along, too. But if your major issue is one very nice cup of coffee... this works.
  19. My bad! I have such a dim view of this Government that my thought process while reading this jumped ahead a bit. Read the article and immediately went to thoughts of stacking the Court, something US Presidents try occasionally. But come to think of it, more times than not the stacked courts end up not supporting the ideas of the folks who put them there. lol
  20. One can hope. I do. Until then, everyone play safe and keep safe!
  21. Writing the beginning and ending of a Christmas Letter. My folks have put out a letter every year since 1948. Let me rephrase that. My mother has written a letter every year. The sequence has always been a creative word description of the season as the first paragraph. filler on how everyone is doing and a creative word description on best wishes for next year. Followed with a short original poem. When Mom's dementia took over, I took on the role of author for the beginning, end, and poem. Glad to do it. No problem. Mom passed last summer. Dad decided at the last minute he wanted another letter to go out this year. Sitting there at home, alone, trying to come up with a beginning, and ending, and a poem, the reality, the finality of my mother's death hit me. It was so easy to avoid before. There was so much to do. People to talk to. Places to be. Sitting there trying to write those simple things, I cried like a baby. Got them written, though. Emailed them to my sister who is the editor. She declared them to be beautiful. This one's for you, Mom.
  22. As an individual, I feel that I can manage my own risk in this regard and operate in such a manner that if we wake up tomorrow and find that oops.... the new law WILL be enforced, I'm okay. In so far as a corporate entity like CERB/LYLA is concerned, the risks are much greater. Were it my business, I would operate as if the new law were, in fact, the new law until there was an official clear change. It just takes one noisy persistent nut-job to raise a legal ruckus. I only see a few potential nut-jobs each day. CERB/LYLA is potentially exposed to thousands so not a risk I would take were I them. Additional Comments: Monotone looks so much better on me than prison orange. :)
  23. If you'd like to read something funny, go back and read the recommendations for your favorite people. Or anyone, for that matter. As you probably know, because of the changes mandated by those who know best for us, certain words are now blocked out. Some of the recommendations written before the change now make for amusing reading where you try to figure out what took place. By the way... I'm not being sarcastic or critical of the new regime. I'm just finding humor in a silly situation.
  24. Can't speak for anyone else but so far as I'm concerned, it is business as usual except all communications are much more circumspect. But I can see where December might not have the same budget allowance for these adventures. There is always hope... January will come around!
