There was some discussion on a local radio station a couple weeks ago about these lists that schools have been distributing to parents. Apparently one of the required items from a local school board was a dictionary - not just any dictionary, however, but a specific one that the teacher will use in the curriculum. This goes against the Ontario Education Act which requires the school to supply all necessary books. A school board spokesperson later said the school will supply the dictionary if the parents can't afford it. They somehow failed to mention that in the list they sent out, however.

House centipedes. They are at the top of the household insect food chain. I believe some have been known to feed on squirrels and pigeons (not really). I use the have them in an old apartment. I loathed them immensely. I think it was their habit of darting out from behind an appliance at incredible speed when you least expect it. As far as what frightens me... The thought of walking into a dark bathroom late at night, turning on the light, and there's someone standing behind me in the mirror. Not cool.
