So, I've just visited an ATM, and it gave me some of the new plastic bills. Given that this is a cash-based industry, I'm guessing we'll all encounter them pretty soon. So, what do you think about them?

This may turn out to be your best bet. You don't need a top of the range machine unless performance really matters (gaming, video editing, etc) and an OK-but-not-great laptop will probably cost less than getting someone to fix the old one. Whatever you do to fix the problems you've got now, remember - be careful about what you download - be careful about clicking "yes" when asked if you want to install something, because you can always install it later - a good anti-virus/malware package (or two) is your friend - keep your software up to date with the latest patches! I use Secunia PSI for this - it's very helpful for ensuring that your machine is as vulnerability-free as you can make it.

There's a fundamental problem with this thread, which is that you can't deny the allegations if nobody knows what the allegations were in the first place! I appreciate that the OP (and others) were offering support, but I can't help wondering whether the curiosity this thread has created amongst those who may otherwise have remained oblivious will turn out to be counter-productive.

JustJack, I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but RG is a well-liked and much-respected member of CERB. If you don't appreciate his posts, that's fine; nobody's forcing you to read them. But please rest assured that snarky comments like the one you've just made will not change anyone else's opinion of RG's worth; they may well, however, change people's opinion of yours.

I vaguely recall hearing that it started as a chat forum on EC, and became popular enough that it was spun off into a separate site. But that's about all I know, and I may be wrong. I'd be interested to find out too!

Can't say I'm remotely optimistic on this one, I'm afraid. Sure, we have a ceasefire today... but Hamas won't stop firing rockets, and Netanyahu's government won't stop building settlements, and it's only a matter of time before it all kicks off again. The combination of religion, politics and territory is thoroughly toxic, and I fear it's also completely insoluble.
