If we're in that part of the world, I'd prefer Islay. No family reasons. Not interested in the food. Just the drinks :)

She might be, yes. Awesome job, both of you!

Un-friending someone

Except that then you forget about them, and they can still see what you post. Which can lead to... oopsies! I prefer to just cut people off entirely - it's easier that way. But this is definitely a YMMV thing. -
Why so many PM requests from lurkers?
Phaedrus replied to Horndog66's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I can't say I get many, but I get a few. For folks I don't know, I'm always happy to provide a pointer to a SP's reco thread and latest ad :) And to be honest, the folks I do know tend not to ask... -
Irrespective of anyone's partisan proclivities... I'm seriously unenthusiastic about the fact that you Americans will vote, break for Thanksgiving and Christmas, swear in the new Congress and new/old President... and then start campaigning for the mid-terms. JUST FUCKING GIVE IT A REST FOR A BIT, WILL YOU??? Seriously. You don't vote again in Federal Elections until November 2014. That means you don't need to campaign until, say, October 2014. Maybe September, at a push. DEFINITELY not before Labour Day. Capiche?

I'm not by any means an expert on this, but... As a general rule, most of us will experience hair issues. Either you won't have enough where you want it, or you'll have too much where you don't want it. Or, most likely, both at the same time, because bodies are irritating like that. I can't speak for everyone, but my feeling is that it's probably best to make the most of the hand you've been dealt, rather than wasting time and effort trying to change that hand and feeling perennially miserable as a result. But sure, if you want to grow your pubes and shave them off and glue them to your forehead, go right ahead. Hell, you can have mine if you like :)

Linguini. Farfalle just don't cook properly in the middle. A good bottle of wine, or a good movie? And no, you may not have both for the purposes of this question :)

Apparently, Donald Duck will now have four nephews: Huey, Louie, Dewey and Chewie.

I must admit, this surprises me. Do the provinces not have reciprocal arrangements to recognize each others' professional certifications? If you'd come from another country, I could perhaps understand it... but another province? This seems nuts to me. Mind you, it's amazing how many fully qualified doctors are driving taxis while they go through medical school all over again... and just you try finding yourself a family doctor in the meantime! But that's a whole other rant... Actually, now I think about it, maybe Government being obviously stupid doesn't surprise me after all...

To add to what mahcus00 said... if they notice and find you again, they'll probably know you unfriended them, despite the fact that FB doesn't send notifications of these things (I suppose you could claim technological ineptitude, but that doesn't help if you have to do it again). But you can also block them, in which case they can't even find you if they search, and it looks like you're just not on FB at all any more. Or you could tell them what you do for a living, and maybe they'll unfriend you. Problem solved! :) -
Yes, you can't beat Connery. Although - and I know this will be unpopular - I quite liked Roger Moore, too. As for the girls... Jill Masterson wins, because her death is so damn memorable.

Happy Halloween Cerbies!

Remember, your leftover pumpkins must be disposed of... but that doesn't mean you can't have fun (or look creepy) doing it. -
Ooooh, Prague... I went once, when I was too young to appreciate the place. I'd love to go again.

looks that can kill a booking

I've heard stories of clients rejecting ladies because they didn't like the looks of them, but almost never the reverse. The only time I have heard of it seemed to be in relation to a SP who was overtly racist. -
Sun Tanning in NOVEMBER??

Global warming isn't a matter of belief, or not. This isn't like arguing about a God whose existence - or not - can't really be definitively proven. Global warming is real, it's happening, and the science is pretty much indisputable at this point. Of course, that doesn't mean nobody's going to dispute it; the science is also complex and the evidence relies on statistics, which are trivially easy to confuse people with if you wish to do so. The best analogy I've seen is with the science on the connection between smoking and lung cancer in the 70s; it's basically proven beyond doubt, but there's some serious money being put into casting as much doubt as possible on the science and some major vested influences behind them. Yesterday it was the tobacco companies; today it's Big Oil and the coal-extraction industry. To be fair, you can only take the analogy so far - there's not much downside to giving up smoking, but it'd be tough to give up things like cars and electricity - but the analogy is pretty reasonable in terms of the rampant and blatant dishonesty at work. The big problem here is that the public in general doesn't understand two things: they don't understand the difference between weather and climate, and they don't understand the difference between global and local. That's why polls on public attitudes to global warming vary so much; the numbers of people who think it's real can double or halve depending on whether we've just had a very cold winter, or an unseasonably warm fall. See you again before long, Sandy - there's no chance we'll have done anything before you come back, although I'm sure you'll have changed your name by then. And I must confess that I'm not looking forward to the day you start doing duos with Katrina, although I have no doubt it'll happen. -

Long time members, no posts

I think they're missing out, but that's not my problem :) It would be nice if those who benefit from recos would post their own, but as far as the rest of the site goes... no, I don't think there's any obligation at all. One thing that's worth saying is that lurkers vastly outnumber active members online, and that this applies to everything, everywhere. It's not even an 80/20 rule - the usual rule of thumb is that a 90/9/1 rule applies between lurkers/occasional contributors/regular contributors. For those who are interested in this kind of stuff... this is worth a look. There's a lot more material out there for those inclined to google a bit. -
Yes, that's my recollection too. To mrrnice2,the key thing to recall is that, overall, it's almost completed and a rather efficient way to sidestep the island. And by the time you drive up here, it just may be completed. Yep. I drove from Ottawa to Quebec on the Thursday before Labor Day, and my minimum speed through Montreal was 60-ish... even with construction. Apparently there was an hour-long jam on the 40 at the time. I know what I prefer :)

What's the longest you went without internet?
Phaedrus replied to Bick's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I'm assuming that the question doesn't include the time before the Internet was invented? :) Three months, during which World War Three could have taken place (it won't take long, with modern weaponry) and I wouldn't have noticed. Only communication with the outside world was by letter (remember them) which took a couple of weeks to get in/out. It was awesome. I'd absolutely do it again. Being completely disconnected is a great relief. -
Welcome! Yes, you're right about that... lots of information, and most of us don't bite. At least, not when we're well-fed :)

I had the pleasure of seeing Gina again recently, after far too long a break. Everything was just as good as I'd remembered (see above for more :) ). Fantastic massage, lots of fun after that, and a very nice shower for two to clean up afterwards. Hopefully it won't be too long before I can get to see her again...
