  1. Orval, Belguim. Because I'm drinking it.
  2. The problems with being a male angler fish
  3. Tough one... but I'd have to go with Richard Feynman. Christopher Hitchens is a close second, but I doubt it'd be just one drink with him...
  4. Is the guy in that second vid a young Austen Powers? Just wondering... :)
  5. I have to say, I've heard this about Ottawa several times on CERB. And it's always about Ottawa, rather than other cities. And it's *really* frustrating to know that ladies I might like to see (or *really* want to see) won't make the trip because they've been burned by time-wasters in the past. And even more to know that there's nothing I can do about it, other than not becoming part of the problem. Sorry, I'm not wealthy enough to make all of your visits profitable. But trust me, I would if I could!
  6. Now you mention it... not sure :) I'm not an expert on the indignities that us.gov heaps upon its citizens, but this does sound like the kind of thing they'd do...
  7. There's really no contest on this one, as far as I'm concerned. I've never been a fan of spending huge amounts of money on over-priced sugary alcoholic stuff, or of hanging out in places where the music is too loud for any kind of conversation at all (yes, I was old before my time). And I've come to loathe that point where you end up thinking, "Stuff it, you'll do" and engaging in embarrassing drunken fumbling with someone who's almost certainly thinking the same about you. And then the hangovers, and regret, and wondering whether or not you should call... not that much fun, much of the time. By contrast, I can go and see a SP because I definitely *want* to (whether because of her posts, pics, recos, or something else entirely), and do so sober, and enjoy the experience. And not have a hangover. And know that the money went somewhere worthwhile, rather than just magically disappearing into the beer gremlin's bottomless pockets again.
  8. East Timor, which I think is the world's second-youngest country. At least, I can only think of one younger one...
  9. Gabriella's review of the infamous FB-BBM agency. Although pretty much the entire thread is worth reading.
  10. Kamchatka, at the end of Russia. Always the bane of my life while playing Risk - I *always* forget about that sneaky back door to/from Alaska for some reason.
  11. Congratulations, Porthos! And achieved impressively quickly too...
  12. Something else from down under... Baz Luhrmann - Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)
  13. Well, I've just looked at a couple of profiles of other people who I *know* used to to have this working, and they've got the same as you. So I'd imagine it's an issue with the little twitter plugin...
  14. So.... is he serious, or is he just indulging in some cheap publicity?
  15. Yes, it'll be controversial. Things like this always are. The big problem with universal rights is that they really do apply to everyone, and "everyone" includes terrorists, pedophiles, drug-dealers, serial killers and every other kind of undesirable you can think of - and if you're going to stand up for everyone's rights you have to stand up for those people, too. That's why political assaults on liberties are *always* introduced initially in situations where they're targeted at the universally-despised (terrorists and pedophiles seem to be the most common choices), and then once the principle is established, slowly extended to cover everyone else too. Libertarianism is hard, sometimes...
  16. But I have to say that Christopher Walken did a good job as a classic Bond villain :) And speaking of Christopher Walken... here's a song that I'll forever associate with him. You know what it needs.... Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear The Reaper
