Actually, I take it as a sign of health for the board... a lack of disagreement and debate often means a forum that's on the way to getting boring and stagnant and... fading away. We're all human, and sometimes we're all going to be slightly more intemperate than we'd perhaps wish. But also we're all adults, and to be honest I think everyone here does a pretty good job of keeping a lid on it when things get pissy. Trust me, there's far worse out there. I have phases of indulging in political arguments, and *far* worse gets said in the forums where politics is discussed :) So, carry on, everyone. You're all awesome, even when you're having a collective bad day.

Reference Questions
Phaedrus replied to sighkologic's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
There are no dumb questions. There are only dumb answers. Also, it's waaaay better to ask a stupid question than to make a stupid mistake :) There have been quite a few threads on references on here: here's one (there are others, but I was too lazy to look further). Well, the ladies will be able to give you a better answer than me, but in a nutshell: as with everything like this, it's the small minority that screw things up for everyone. It's all about the safety of the SPs, and about them taking whatever steps they need to to feel safe when putting themselves in a position where they're alone with a complete stranger. Well, some ladies don't ask for references at all, but they'll probably have other screening methods. The may use third-party reference sources like the 'check' services, or they may just want to chat for a bit (by email, pm, phone, whatever) to get a feel for who you are. There are also a few threads around where guys have questioned the need to give out as much personal information as some ladies ask for and have generally been shot down in flames. If a SP asks for information you're not prepared to divulge then you just don't see her, that's all. At the end of the day, each individual SP will do as much or as little screening as it takes for her to feel comfortable and safe seeing you, and if she isn't comfortable she probably won't see you :) Not sure what others do, but I've always contacted the lady who I'm going to ask for the reference first to check she's OK with it and tell her who it's for, so it doesn't come as a complete surprise. And AFAIK most SPs are absolutely fine with giving references, since it's all for the safety and well-being of other SPs. They're not going to get pissy about you seeing someone else... after all, they have other clients. As for the Catch-22 you mention above with getting started - I don't think it's necessarily that bad. Some ladies don't ask for references, and I think some that do will screen via other methods if you can't provide one. If in doubt, you can always drop the object of your desires a mail to explain that you're just getting back into things, and ask if she's OK with alternative screening methods. -
Yep. Even with the pics that ladies post here on CERB, convention is to ask the owner of the pic for permission before posting it in the best bums thread, or wherever else. And that's a pic that someone has posted themselves for others to see... these, on the other hand, are pics that were never intended to be seen by a wide audience, and hacking a phone and plastering them all over the Internet isn't cool. Celebrities give up a certain amount of privacy in return for the benefits of their fame... but I think this is a step too far. That didn't stop me looking at them, of course, but it did make me feel slightly guilty about it.

Happy birthday Shymale!

Happy Birthday, shymale! Have a good one! -
My pet peeve with SCs is that I have absolutely no self control and end up with serious kid-in-a-candy-store syndrome, which means I can't go as often as I'd like or I'd rapidly be penniless :) Apparently there's a little word beginning with N, but I have a really hard time saying it...

Old Dog, that Rick-roll was outrageous. :) By way of compensation... a vid of an outrageously talented lady. Seriously, this is awesome.

The art of kissing.
Phaedrus replied to Meg O'Ryan's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Ooooh, I'm getting all hot and bothered just reading this... :) Love it... but I have to say that exactly what I love depends somewhat on context. Sometimes it's very delicate and sensuous licking and nibbling, and sometimes just going at it like a hormone-addled teenager... it's all good. And to go off on a slight tangent: eyes open or shut? Is eye contact hot while you're kissing, or a complete turn-off? -
It's outrageously hot. And that's all I have to say about that :)

Ah, that's what I was missing. I had visions of a mattress stuffed with feathers. But I'm still amused by the idea of you walking down the street with a mattress and taking it to the dry-cleaner, so I'm sticking with that, if only because it makes me smile :)

Er... you get your feather beds dry-cleaned? I now have a vision of you strolling through Vancouver carrying a mattress... Just how many spare beds do you have? And how many can you take to the cleaner at once? :)

Happy Birthday, Dorinda Bloom!

Happy birthday, Dorinda! Have a fantastic day! -
Hopefully people won't share rates, either publicly or by PM. The only people that get to announce rates are the ladies charging them. The problem is that if a lady changes her rates and then gets contacted by someone who's been given out-of-date information - even if only the best of intentions are involved - awkwardness and embarrassment and misunderstandings can result, and that's not good for anyone :) Same goes for info on exactly what you get. The fact that a location is discussed in this forum should tell you a certain amount - but the exact details may very from person to person, and the ladies have every right to do (or not do) things as they feel inclined at the time. YMMV, as they say. Other people's experiences are only ever a rough guideline - nothing more.

New Escorts Using Established Escort Names
Phaedrus replied to a topic in Ottawa Discussion - Escorts
Indeed. I can't help but notice that this is the user's first post after making the five required to get past the initial moderation period, so perhaps his IP address should be banned too, in the interests of preventing a repeat with a new account... ================ Update: HAHAHA! In the time it took me to post that, that particular instance of douchebaggery has been removed (kudos, Mod!). Oh, you gotta be quick on the Interwebs... So, for everyone else reading this, the "post 14" to which Old Dog referred is NOT stevecurious' post which has now inherited that unfortunate number... -
As pretty much everyone else has said, the chemistry is critical. It's absolutely the most important single thing as far as I'm concerned. I also think it's a good thing to make an initial meeting with someone is long enough for both parties to relax and find out whether or not the chemistry's there. True, you don't want to be trapped in a very long appointment if it isn't, but I don't think that a very short meeting gives either side a reasonable chance of working this out, especially if you also wish to engage in activities which may make it hard to concentrate on the conversation in that short time. There's been one or two ladies I've met who I didn't really click with all that well. In those cases the experience hasn't been bad, and certainly not to the point where I was just getting through the encounter and getting out ASAP... it just hasn't been all that good either. There's nothing to say that those ladies aren't the perfect person for someone else - just not for me, 'cos the magic isn't there. Having said that, I haven't had that happen too often. This is probably because I have a strong bias towards seeing ladies who have at least some kind of presence here (over and above just posting their daily ad), so I usually have some sort of a clue what makes them tick before I get in touch at all, and once I do they hopefully also have some idea what I'm like, and can make their own informed decision about whether we'll get on or not. As far as I'm concerned, the list of ladies I've met and would like to see again is *much* longer than the list of ladies I probably won't go back to. The people I go back to are the ones who I like (which is not the same as merely thinking they're hot); the ones who I'd want to spend time hanging out with no matter what we were (or weren't) getting up to. Alas, there is also the competing lure of the new and unknown, which means I don't get to arrange second (and third, and fourth, and whateverth) meetings as often as I'd like... And when the stars align and you meet someone who you really connect with... oh, it's wonderful :) Absolutely not. If we like each other today, we'll probably like each other tomorrow too :) And if I think the chemistry's there, I'm totally coming back to see you again!

For those who haven't noticed yet, Cato has now posted a reco too. And we already have a second reco from someone else... ...and I'm thinking that it's been quite a while since I saw a MA, and that I should do something about this :)

MP Bids to Make Buying Sex Illegal in Canada
Phaedrus replied to a topic in Legal discussion, cases & questions
OOI, how much do politicians pay attention to this sort of thing? Anyone know? Or, indeed, simply finding out who clients are. If the likes of Farley are to be believed, we're a bunch of homicidal maniacs, and the absolute dregs of society. Is there research into demonstrating what we know damn well - that the clients are simply ordinary people? -
AWESOME!!! Yes, I care. I *love* Persistence, so this will totally have to be listened to :) In other old thrash dinosaur news... further sell-out-ness
