I leap out of the shower, and then dry off by dancing naked around the house. In summer, I do a couple of laps around the garden, too. Sometimes the neighbors complain, but it doesn't take too long and I'm usually dressed and looking innocent - or I've even left for work - by the time the police show up. It took me a lot of time and effort, and long hours of coaching from Lee Richards and Old Dog, but I think I've pretty much got this one now. I've only fallen down the stairs once in the last couple of weeks. BTW, this is the only method of drying yourself permitted at FB-BBM Towers...

Well, the main thrust of the article seems to be that people continue to be exploited despite the legalization of prostitution in Germany. I don't think this is entirely surprising; you can see exactly the same in other legal industries where a lot of immigrants end up (e.g. construction and agriculture). Even legal immigrants can be very dependent on the people who brought them in due to language and cultural barriers; it's worse, obviously, for those who aren't in the host country legitimately.But you don't see article written about the construction and agriculture industries, because they're just not going to get the same reader interest as one focused on prostitution will. This is a problem with cheap and immobile labour, not with prostitution per se. It has more to do with the proximity of a wealthy economy (Germany) and poorer ones (Romania, Hungary) with relatively easy transport links and immigration procedures between them. That's always going to lead to potentially exploitative employment. Although the article spends a great deal of time bewailing the fate of young ladies in Germany, and the fact that there seems to be little political will to change the law again, it really makes no serious effort to examine or propose alternatives. Sweden and Holland get a brief mention. New Zealand isn't mentioned at all. Decriminalization (rather than legalization) isn't considered in the slightest. Neither are conditions in jurisdictions in which either prostitution or activities relating to it are illegal. All we get is some vague idea of a Utopia in which prostitution is illegal, and all the girls magically vanish. I can't shake the feeling that what the authors really want is for prostitution to become illegal again, and then the next article can just say, "Well, it sucks, but what they're doing is illegal so it's their own fault and we don't need to care." That might assuage their middle-class guilt, but it won't help anybody.

Hmmmm... she seems very keen to draw a line between this and prostitution. The lady doth protest too much, methinks :) I'd be interested to hear what someone who's done this and also been a more "normal" SP felt about the difference between a sugar daddy and a regular client...

Quite apart from what Nat said (which which I agree 100%), it's entirely possible to have orgasms without oral sex being involved. I must admit, I haven't really had a problem with this. Almost all the ladies I've met have been thoroughly reliable - very rare to get a cancellation, and if it happens they've let me know in advance. There have been a couple of exceptions, but not very many at all. Areez, I have to ask: multiple times from the same person? I admire your tolerance. I can't say I'd have the patience to get as far as making a third attempt, and quite possibly not even a second if someone no-showed on me without notice...

Well, leaving aside the zombies for the moment (we have another thread for them somewhere...) At the risk of sounding horribly gloomy... I've stopped worrying about climate change. It's clearly happening, but there are still vested corporate interests pouring huge amounts of money into denialism, and the fact remains that seriously addressing the issue would cause significant pain for many people in the industrialized world, and so politicians simply won't do that (kinda like they'll never be honest about the fact that you can't have low taxes and gold-plated public services, either). These two factors have combined to ensure that nothing was done to address the issue early on. Note also that any remedy won't take effect for years or decades: again, public policy just doesn't work on such long timescales, ever. So, as I say, I've given up. Climate change is happening, and will continue to happen. People in places like the Maldives and Bangladesh are basically fucked; their countries will be reclaimed by the sea and previous refugee crises will look like child's play by comparison to what we'll see then. Extreme weather events will continue to become more commonplace (and, by definition, less extreme). I'll never buy a house on low ground or close to the sea, or anywhere frequented by hurricanes or tornados. I won't live anywhere that depends on glacial meltwater for much of its drinking water (things are going to get very interesting in the western US when the glaciers in the Rockies that feed their rivers finally run out). Mass extinctions, of species both discovered and not, will continue - and note that I said "continue", not "begin". On the plus side, Canada's a pretty good place to be. Plenty of fresh water, and a warming climate will just make the vast north of the country more habitable. Right, having typed out that thoroughly dispiriting post, I'm going to have another beer (and thus continue my own consumerism, contribute further to the problem, and help to prove myself right). Maybe I should change my handle to Cassandra...
