I agree with most of what's been said here already. I would also like to chime in on a few things. Firstly, its important to note that the decision on Friday came after countless years of hard work by the many people who've been pushing for decriminalization through their daily work around this. I think that, if any other model is pushed for by parliament or whoever, and that model doesn't work in favour of safe(r/est) working conditions, these same people will fight it probably until its rejected or struck down. (I don't call myself an optimist for no reason :)) Also, its actually completely illogical what the 'saving women' movement is doing. Do they think that by criminalizing clients and lowering incomes and worsening safety conditions, that that somehow will open up new opportunities in other work sectors or provide us with alternative incomes? No. In fact, the people who will suffer most from these models are the very women they seem to be advocating for (many of whom have told them repeatedly to stop speaking on behalf of them) because by this point they will be in worse financial situations. Criminalizing clients will not end the sex industry and it won't increase employment of former sex workers in the the formal economy, unlike the claims made by said 'feminists'. Also, this: "In 2004, the Swedish police and the Ministry of Justice released a report on the state of prostitution since the 1998 reform, and found that: There were fewer sex clients, but a larger proportion were dangerous Sex workers had less time to assess clients The prices for sexual services had fallen More clients were ready to pay for unprotected sex Sex workers felt that their risk of violence had increased The report also brought to light a new form of crime that had arisen: women posing as sex workers to rob clients (who would fear reporting the robbery to the police for fear of being charged with attempting to purchase sexual services)." Whether or not the government providing all these things for free is inefficient, is sort of irrelevant when discussing the rights-based approach to them. My point was to show that government funding is not a criteria for something to be considered a right

Question: I swear I read somewhere a little while back that Australia funds people with disability's seeing sex workers and the government even provides training for sex workers to be able to treat folks with disabilities properly/ in a non-ablist way... (Does anyone have a link or more info on this?) As for the point about sex maybe being a human right but not being government funded: Isn't housing and food and water a human right? Yet, we have to pay for all of them... (which I don't agree with but that's reality for you) My point being is that when something is called a human right it is not funded by the government by default...

What you may want to try is, knowing that you usually don't know when you have free time until the last minute and given that you're only available to play at night time, send an SP of your choosing an email... Let her know your situation and she may agree to screen you with her screening process.... if you pass, that way when you contact her for an appointment, if she is available, then she will agree to meet you. Doing the screening in this way may save you the hassle of not finding anyone at the last minute. I'm not sure if all the ladies would be ok with this process but some may and ask them politely.

I've been reflecting a lot lately on my life and my relationships and my work as an SP and have realized that 2011 has been a year of personal growth and spiritual 'enlightenment' for me (by spiritual I'm not really talking about religion or anything of the sort)... So I thought I'd start this thread to provide everyone with the space to share some of the life lessons they've learned this year and perhaps share the stories and context around that learning. And what will you do differently in 2012 as a result of this learning? I'm going to have to think about mine because there are so many and they are all quite deep and personal... It sounds like there is a genuine concern here for the OP. I'm not sure if this thread is the best place to post jokes about sex addictions.

@ Loopie, I sort of agree with what you're saying, but given that sex and everything surrounding it is a highly "hush hush" subject in a lot of social settings, it might make sense for someone to bring up a topic such as sex addiction in a setting like CERB where we all gather on the basis of sexual experiences/encounters amongst other things. It also seems plausible that people in this setting are experiencing similar things and thus can private message the OP with some ideas or support resources. And so while this topic may not make sense to be discussed on CERB for some, it sort of makes sense to me for the reasons I've stated above. Sky

Just wanted to update my list: Breaking Bad (just watched all 4 seasons in the last few days and holy woah!)

What keeps me here and what I love about CERB? The way in which CERB provides us all with a place to co-exist in a way that other social settings don't. What I mean by this is that, because of the way that some of us are forced to keep our hobbying or our work secret from those with whom we have personal relationships, CERB is essentially providing us all with an opportunity to relieve some of the burdens that come with keeping secrets. Doing this in a place where so many others have similar experiences, fosters an environment where community and friendships are inevitable results of a space that encourages respect from the hobbyists for the SPs and vice versa

How did I only see this thread just now? When I was a kid, my family used to rent movies from block buster every week (I know, RENT movies from BLOCKBUSTER... old school) and every week I would rent out 101 dalmations... there came a point where my mom had to get the staff to lie each time and say someone had already rented it because she could not watch it anymore lol! Then all the other dog movies like Lassie, Beethoven and Bingo...i used to watch them over and over and over and over and over and over again... When we used to go into pet stores, eventually she refused to take me into any because I would stare at the dogs through the glass the entire time and then the dogs would start crying and so would I and my mom would have to drag me out before she started to cry lol... I have always loved dogs so much... My grandma had 2 dogs and each time one would die, she would get a new one for the other not to be lonely and me and my sister would cry for weeks even though we'd only see the dogs once a year or so... Sigh I just love them And now all this reminiscing makes me want to go download Beethoven off of Pirate Bay and say good night... lol xoxo Sky Ps.
