  2. George is hilarious! My favouite quote: "The main reason Santa is so jolly is because he knows where all the bad girls live."
  3. Touching. A good wordsmith is worth his/her weight in gold.
  4. My favourite shows are "Mr Bean", "Dave Allen at Large" and "Kitchen Nightmares [uK]" (ok, nightmares isn't technically comedy, but I laugh when I watch the screw ups). The US Kitchen Nightmares is great, but Gordon Ramsay seems to have mellowed out a bit.
  5. I lasted about 8 seconds! Who can top that?
  6. I unknowingly took your and Big Bird's picture the other day while stroling down the street:
  7. I'm sorry to hear about the fried boards. Even Mercedes and BMW sells a lemon every so often. I've had great success with a number of HPs, Sonys and Toshibas among others. Apples have had their share of horror stories too - for example the many Macbooks that overheated and caught on fire:
  8. I guess I'm a Mock Turtle, bacuse that's the animal character Cary Grant played in the 1933 Alice in Wonderland.
  9. After taking a quick trip in a time machine: I discovered that in the year 802,701 AD the Eloi and Morlocks replace today's humans. The Morlocks are in charge. Eloi: Morlocks:
  10. You're old when "cell phone" meant the phone in the jail cell you used to call your parents after you were picked up for underage drinking.
  11. Thanks! I could have used this handy chart years ago.

  13. You know you're old when you can remember being taught measurements in the imperial (inches, gallons, pounds...) system in school.
  14. Great point RG! Consider anything put on the internet irrevocably out there. It is actually more permanent than carving things into stone. These words as I type them will be around long after we've all turned to dust. If you are reading this now, a copy is now stored on your computers cache. Granted, most caches are supposed to be temporary, but if you back it up before it is automatically cleared, there is now another longer lifetime copy of my words that will exist until it is erased, overwritten or destroyed. Sadly, the webpage revision method of trying to remove stuff from the search engines is about as good as it gets.
  15. I'm curious - what's all the talk of marshmellows about?
  16. You know you're old when you remember looking down the 50 foot deep hole where the CN tower's foundation was going to be poured and then many months later seeing this:
  17. - a lap top with a good battery life and one that doesn't decrease in life-span over time (is that even possible with any laptop?) All batteries will decrease their storage capacity over time - the laws of physics at work. The main factor affecting usage time on battery is the screen size and brightness - Bigger screen = less working time. Brighter screen = less working time. - I'll mostly be using it for CERB and also for school assignments (don't know if that's a relevant piece of information) Anything you can buy will be more than capable of doing anything you need. -If possible I would like a laptop with lots of disk space External storage is an option if you need tons of storage, or you can upgrade the hard drive in most machines for not a lot of money. Walmart has a Segate 1.5 TB external drive on sale for $88. -Lasts me in good condition for about 5 or so years? Just don't drop it - that is the main cause of failure. -oh and also of great importance is that i don't want it to be too heavy as I will have to carry it to and from school almost daily. For weight and battery time, the "NetBook" class of machines fit the bill (I use one for those exact reasons), the screen size is only 10.1", but on the run it meets my needs. The (extended capacity) battery lasts 8 to 10 hours. You can get an extra battery if you really need one. You can connect most any laptop to a full size desktop monitor and keyboard when you are at home. The HP mini has a keyboard that is large enough to still be able to touch type on. In a nutshell, but the cheapest name brand machine you can find that has the screen size you would like - it will be more than you need. Walmart has several on sale. I hope this helps!
  18. I used to rush home for from school some beaver every day! Remember when the dirtiest thing ever said on TV was "Ward, you were a little hard on the beaver last night".
  19. Thanks! I'm now prepared with the line "That's cute, I saw the Jenna Marbles videos too".
