Snow Etiquette! we all need it

It's very sad that the obvious needs to be pointed out to people. #4 I'm not 100% sure that I agree with, I guess it depends on where the car is and how much snow is on it. -

internet scams

As a general rule, no financial institution will notify you by e-mail about anything other than advertising or letting you know that something on your account needs attention, in which case you should not use any links in the e-mail and manually log onto your account by typing the web address into the browser. When in doubt, call them on the telephone. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will never contact you by e-mail about your tax return. There is also a new scam going around where the perp will contact you by telephone, giving convincing information about your address, account number, some transactions, etc. and then ask you for additional private information. The best practice is to call the financial institution back at a number known to you. -

I'm really happy to hear you all ok! It all depends on what the smoke has soaked into. In the worst case, in addition to repainting, carpet, bedding, draperies and clothing may need to be replaced, air duct scrubbing, etc. Don't overlook your home insurance - if the smell seems really bad, it is a valid claim. You can crystallize you position without actually making a claim by informing your insurance agent what happened at that there may be a claim. If you don't end up making a claim, no harm no foul.

Pet hair and cigarette smoke can be particularly nasty! Oh ya, you know that whiny grinding noise that you hear? That's the fan bearings starting to fail. After a few weeks, the noise goes away. That's the fan not spinning anymore! -
http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/01/28/siu.selling.the.girl.''''''''/index.html January 28, 2011 3:06 p.m. EST When Craigslist pulled the plug on its adult services section last summer, it stepped out of a raging controversy over accusations its site had become a marketplace for pimps to sell underage girls. The ads left Craigslist, but they didn't go away. Many simply migrated to other websites, most notably, ''''''''.com. '''''''' is owned by the Village Voice Media group. According to internet research firm the AIM Group, the website's adult ad revenues jumped to $2 million in December, up more than 25 percent from the previous month. AIM Group founder Peter Zollman says the revenue jump is due in part to the fact that '''''''' is now charging more money to post ads under its "escort" categories. "They have taken advantage of Craigslist's departure from the marketplace, and they've raised their rates in a lot of places," Zollman says. "As a result, they've increased their revenue." The AIM Group also reports that overall traffic on Craigslist, the nation's most popular classified ad site, has dropped by more than 10 percent since it took its adult ads down. CNN investigated allegations that ''''''''.com is facilitating the sale of underage girls for sex across America, by providing a convenient and cheap marketplace for pimps who sell the girls and the men who buy them. CNN found cases of underage girls sex trafficked all over the country, from the suburbs of Washington to Las Vegas, where a 13-year-old girl was sold on '''''''' last fall, according to law enforcement authorities. She says she was advertised on '''''''' by a pimp, seeing four or five men a day. "It made me feel so nasty," she says. "I always just want a shower and get it off; I was like oh it's so disgusting." '''''''' and its parent company, Village Voice Media, have consistently refused CNN's requests for an interview. On the company's blog, '''''''' says it is taking steps to clean up the site, including reviewing ads to try to screen out underage women.

My horror stories of over heated drives are mainly from back in the old days, when tower cases were designed to physically have room for multiple drives, but the air flow wasn't designed in. Some things you learn the hard way! -
He won a civil judgment for $821,000. The sad part is, that judgment and $1 won't even get you a cup of coffee.

I came across this and thought I'd share it: Some may think that Bill Clinton is the US Government's first brush with sex, however the US government has had agencies involved in the skin trade in the past. One example which comes to mind is the famous house of ill repute (actually it is not a house at all, but a collection of trailers) just out of Reno, Nevada called the "Chicken Ranch". The owner of this brothel fell afoul of the US tax agency, the IRS. Not being a foolish chap he decided to flee the US for Latin America rather than fight an inevitably losing battle with tax collectors. The IRS seized his assets, including the brothel, for unpaid taxes and continued to run the brothel for a number of years until a buyer could be found. Sexual prostitution is legal in Nevada and there are a number of such establishments around the state. It is not known how some of the other madams reacted knowing that they had the US government for a competitor. Canadians should not be too smug. The case of the Department of National Revenue versus Mrs MacDonald is still on the books. In this case the government sued a madam over taxes, knowing full well that it is illegal in Canada to live off the avails of prostitution. But they took her money none the less. With governments now involved in bootlegging, gambling and the numbers racquet can whore houses be far behind? After all, they have already determined the business is profitable. Don't be surprised to soon see "Johnny Canuck Beaver Ranches" or "Uncle Sam's Salacious Saloons" in your neighbourhood. The profits from these will of course be dedicated to increased daycare, health and MP's pensions. Copied from: http://www.alexdoulis.com/taxdollars_sep98.htm

After watching one too many cop shows on TV, my thought is to keep my big mouth shut so I don't say anything wrong and call my lawyer. -
Without knowing anything about her, it's hard to suggest something. Since she is new, it might be safer bringing her to the store with you. Keep an eye on what she takes a shining to for furutre trips on your own. There is a line between kinky and sicko, and as I'm sure you know it's different for each girl. One gal might love to see a pair of furry handcuffs where another runs for the door screaming. Oh ya, Valentines day is coming up (insert groan here), I've learnt that things like toasters and hoovers make a bad gifts.

I used to be a big Seagate fan too, but of late their quality is below their historic highs. Sadly, their quality is still better than most. On the plus side, they do have an excellent warranty replacement program altough one time a warranty replacement was DOA. You sure do seem to know your stuff! Something that messed me up a couple of times was airflow inside the server -- the drive was in a dead-air pocket between two other drives and sizzled to the touch. All three became toast. Ouch! -
