When was the last time you "did it"?
jafo105 replied to jafo105's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Thank you everyone for understanding my intentions were good willed. :) That CBS questionnaire though, is making me re-think about my own volunteering commitment and responsibilities. I am a Volunteer First Responder (FR). I am supposed to re-certify this spring/summer. I was also planning to upgrade to Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) this fall or next spring. Which would put me back into the working world. -- Paid for doing something I love -- helping others. Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) - Re-certification every 3 years. (Certified) First Responder (FR) - Re-certification every 3 years. We are vaccinated against a lot of blood-borne contaminants and infectious diseases. Like Hepatitis A & B. Last spring I paid to get tested and to ensure all my vaccinations were up to date. (That was a few hundred dollars.) I only hobby once or twice a year, and I always play safe. I may have to consider giving it up entirely. AND / OR give up being a First Responder. :( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Certified_first_responder http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paramedics_in_Canada -
Today I watched Schindler's List - 1993. Great historical movie.

I am so sorry to hear that, Cleo. I hope I have not offended anyone or touched on a delicate subject. If I have, please accept my sincerest apologies. -
Maybe it is time for you to "do it" again! No I am not talking about "getting laid". I am talking about something more meaningful, that can make another persons day a whole lot brighter. When was the last time you gave blood? - You can do it every 52 days. - The actual needle part only takes 5 to 10 minutes. - Expect to be there for an hour. Go on-line and donate your organs now while you still can. - It takes less than 5 minutes to sign-up. - You can't take them with you when you die. How about bone marrow "stem cells"? Maybe donate a kidney? - Something you can do now. - Dialysis is a treatment, not a cure. - Dialysis treatment is 3 times a week, and last from 2 ½ to 4 ½ hours - per visit. Volunteer - May involve a commitment. - About an hour a month in some cases. - May require a criminal records check. If you are on medication, you may still be able to donate blood. Call and talk to a nurse to be sure. I am sure we all know someone, family, friend, a CERB member, who has a heart condition, cancer, accident victim, abdominal surgery, or some other medical condition or emergency. I can think of a few. At some point they have or will need a blood transfusion or possibly an organ transplant. Canadian Blood Services http://www.blood.ca/CentreApps/Internet/UW_V502_MainEngine.nsf/page/Home?OpenDocument Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplant - Canada http://www.organsandtissues.ca/ Volunteer Canada https://volunteer.ca I signed up to be an organ donor years ago. Every year I go on-line to ensure my information is up-to-date. I have been on medication for many years and was unable to donate blood. But I am now off those meds. I have already signed up to donate blood. Just waiting for a call back with the date and time. My challenge is to see how many CERBies can complete at least one item from the list below - this year Become an organ donor - Donate Blood - Donate bone marrow stem cells - Donate a kidney - AND / OR: Volunteer - - Must be through a registered volunteer service or agency. - Helping people, or - Helping animals.

I was writing a deep and thought provoking thread and my computer crashed. By the time my computer re-booted and I logged back into CERB. I forgot what it was that I was writing about. :( I guess that is a clue I should call it quits for tonight.

The subject of child abuse and spousal abuse brings great concern to me. I grew up witnessing both. In Ontario, The Child and Family Services Act recognizes that each and everyone of us holds a responsibility for the protection of children. It does not matter if your facts are accurate or just mere suspicions - You must report them to the Children's Aid Society (CAS). They have tried to make reporting as easy as possible. In most major cities (Ontario) you can call "4-1-1". That is a very easy number to remember. http://www.oacas.org/childwelfare/report.htm http://www.children.gov.on.ca/htdocs/English/topics/childrensaid/reportingabuse/abuseandneglect/abuseandneglect.aspx -

Petition re: the Nordic Model
jafo105 replied to fortunateone's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I am curious, is anyone else is getting e-mails from Change.org asking for money? I received two e-mails this week. http://www.change.org/petitions/the-honourable-peter-mackay-say-no-to-the-nordic-model-and-yes-to-decriminalization-of-sex-work-in-canada?recruiter=38982431&utm_campaign=signature_receipt&utm_medium=email&utm_source=share_petition -

Also be careful when sending hash-tags - you can be tracked that way too. There was a report on CBC a few days ago explaining how it works. Apparently it is really easy. I consider myself tech savvy, but I did not get it. It went right over my head. :( -

I received a letter from Revenue Canada demanding me to file a tax return for 2012. [Oooops] I called to let them know I will take care of it. I also asked them where my refund cheques were for 2010 & 2011. They said that there were mistakes with both returns and I will not be getting a refund, but I don't owe anything either. (???) I always have my tax returns professionally done. They always manage to find me extra money. I have an appointment for March 27 to take care of 2012 & 2013 tax returns. (Free service because I am on a disability)

It might surprise some people to learn that the age of "sexual consent" around the world varies any where from age 12 to 21. You will note in the list below that Saudi Arabia allows marriage with girls as young as 8 - with a husband in his late 50's. For example: Africa - It ranges from age 12 in Angola to age 20 in Tunisia. The age of consent in Bahrain is 21. The Penal Code of Bangladesh considers 14 years as the age of consent. In Hong Kong the age of consent for sexual activity is 16 for heterosexual couples. India's age of consent for sex is 18. The national age of consent in Japan is 13. The age of consent in Russia is 16. Any kind of sexual activity outside marriage is illegal in Saudi Arabia, but there is no restriction on the age of marriage. For instance, in 2008 a Saudi court refused to annul a marriage between an 8-year-old girl and a 58-year-old man. The age of consent in Syria is 15. The age of consent in Albania is 14. The general age of consent in Austria is 14. The age of consent in Belgium is 16. The age of consent in Bulgaria is 14. The age of consent in France is 15. In Brazil, the age of consent is 14. The age of sexual consent in Colombia is 14. The age of consent is 13 in Spain. The list goes on... Morning Smile Windows Versus Ford
jafo105 replied to roamingguy's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I remember when we used to say, "Drive a mile and walk the rest". When referencing to a Ford. ____________________ For a few years now I keep switching back and forth between, Ubuntu (Linux) and Windows -- And now the Google Chromebook. One of these days I am going to build another computer from scratch. I do that about every 10 years or so. I got the bug in the early 1980's in high school. Back then we had to take a Manual Typing Class ( for the first half of Grade 10), then an Electric Typing Class (for the other half of Grade 10), before you could take a Computer Class (Grade 11). There were about 30 students in the typing classes. But when it came to computer class there were only 8 to 12 students. For some reason the interest just was not there for many students at that time. Probably because very few people could afford a home computer back then. Most businesses only had one or two computers. So the odds of actually using one were slim to none. + = The bonus was that only girls took typing classes back then. It was un cool for the guys... Considering all my other classes were segregated. (Boys form the girls). That made it all the more interesting. -
Sorry to hear that Cristy. Us South Paws need to stick together. ;) I did the same thing years ago. I eventually went to the doctor to have it looked at. The doctor said that I damaged the "S" bone in the wrist. That wrist bothered me for years. I had to wear a rigid brace for a long time - needed to keep it in a particular angle to aid in healing. Now when I turn my wrist a certain way a bone sticks out.

You have a greater chance of getting an STD / STI from a one-night-stand than you do from a professional escort. (But there is always a risk when having sex with another person). I have never hear of any sprays or ointments. That said, Always check with the SP before using such items. The following should be common sense for most people: Good personal hygiene - wash and inspect your privates daily. "Practice makes perfect" - Learn the correct way to put on and take off a condom - Practice, practice, practice - Yes, that means masturbating using condoms. Immediately after sex - remove the condom and wash your hands & genital area. Educate yourself about condoms - Some types of condoms only offer protection from pregnancy. You can still catch a STD / STI using a condom - But the risk is less. Educate yourself on what some of the STD's / STI's look like - Not all are visible. Dental dams may be used to perform oral sex on a woman. Following oral sexy use an antiseptic mouth wash. Get tested regularly. http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/byAudience/ForPatientAdvocates/HIVandAIDSActivities/ucm126372.htm With all that in mind. Relax, be a gentleman, treat her like a lady, and have a good time. ;) Still feeling apprehensive - see a Massage Provider. There is no intercourse or oral sex, but you still have a happy ending. ;)
