For me, email is my preferred way of communication; it give me time to write and say with some precision what I request and a proper introduction of myself. Phone is more for practical information, and texting is really the best. Does the SP wants to hear my voice? Well I may have a sexy accent, but I'm not too much into a conversation over the phone.
