  1. Welcome, and kudos for stepping out of the lurker shadows ;) We don't bite. Nibble maybe....
  2. Welcome to LYLA (formerly known as CERB. Our tireless Mod is still working to shift things over to make this a safe and legally compliant board). You'll find the General Area to have loads of great topics for general interest and the new laws. There are also some great tidbits in the In The News section. Don't be shy: we encourage everyone to participate :D
  3. Mod, you are working some serious overtime getting everything up to snuff with these silly new legislations in place. Thank you for all the hard work behind the scenes to keep this site safe and on the right side of the law.
  4. You know, as a thanks for the new laws they pushed through.... http://www.boredpanda.com/now-you-can-use-bitcoin-to-anonymously-send-poop-to-your-enemies/
  5. I have to be a jerk and point out that most scholars and archaeologists recognize flint-knapping as the oldest profession. :)
  6. Yep, Victoria and Vancouver are both very outspoken against this new crap. I picked a great time to move back here! Of course, it never ceases to amaze me how few of the people I spend time with know much or anything at all about the major changes that have just been made. I think that's more a sign of how relaxed and easy-going things are here, that these people don't need to fret over what-ifs and such before visiting a companion.
  7. When you're ready to make the move, feel free to get in touch! I'm always happy to connect ladies to local resources.
  8. I think the biggest task is going to be re-training clients, as Angela mentioned. Especially here in BC where this industry has always been pretty accepted and things are fairly open and easy-going here. Personally, I am not the slightest bit concerned about my local LE busting me for anything - even if I do choose to get into details over the phone. However, not all municipalities take as tolerant and benevolent a view on our industry and as a rule, I think it's a good idea to stick to basic information and key phrases like "open-minded" (can we still use that? Surely, I would think we can). Clients will just have to learn to read between the lines. And in the end, I find clients that don't want a menu are almost always better clients than the ones who are eager to reduce your companionship to how good your .... skills are or other such things. It's been said by many ladies, and it bears mentioning again: this is chance for us girls to bring back some of the tact and elegance of our companionship. Yes, many clients will not catch on as they are either unaware of the new law and/or they're just stubborn. Ultimately, you have to decide for yourself what you consider to be okay in terms of how you interact with clients before meeting them. If you're comfortable going into detail over the phone, just be aware of the risks involved. There are many advocacy groups in many cities around Canada, and I see no reason why you shouldn't contact them and/or speak to the liason officer at your municipality's police department about the reality of this law. Afterall, while a law may be on the books, the reality of enforcing it may not be so severe. It's good to be informed so you can make a choice that you are comfortable with and that works for you.
  9. Well hello gorgeous! Welcome to Cerb! Don't be shy: everyone's nice here :D
  10. Stephen Fry. He's just so fucking brilliant! And poised and well-mannered. And gay :/
  11. Victoria also issued a similar open letter about two months ago. The Mayor, most of the Council, and many other community leaders - including the Chief of Police - basically said they don't support C-36. BC has always been a sex-trade friendly place. While community leaders in other municipalities may not be speaking so loudly against C-36, we can be assured that the general census is that LE and city municipalities across Canada have better things to do with their resources than strictly enforce this pile of crap.
  12. I guess not many of you are aware of C-13, which Harper snuck through the day after the Ottawa shootings. Now, I am by no means saying that the government and LE have the time to waste using C-13 in conjunction with C-36 to bust the average John. That's a highly improbable scenario. But our online privacy is certainly not what it used to be. My advice is to delete any and all e-mails and text messages of your correspondence with ladies after you have met. Just a precaution - and also a good idea if you have a wife!
  13. Personally, I am avoiding any sort of "menu". As it says on my site: I am a whole woman who can't so easily be quantified and to boil our experience down to a 1 -10 rating and a handful of letters is really doing our time together a great disservice.
  14. A lot of us have been saying pretty much this since C-36 was looming months ago. Even when certain things were illegal, LE didn't go around busting everyone they could find. C-36 won't change that. The biggest difficulties will be in us ladies advertising effectively and having our online communities like Cerb. Independent ladies and agencies likely will get zero troubles from LE. We've beaten this discussion to death over many threads, and frankly I'm not the slightest bit surprised that an officer told you this. This law sounds scary, but it's up to LE to enforce it, and they've never been too concerned about busting up the sex trade. It's pretty low on the list when you've got rapists, murderers, thieves and all manner of other criminals out there.
  15. Welcome to the nicest board around, Hailey! You'll find the ladies here are friendly and the gents are polite.
  16. It could just be that the lab they work with is swamped. But if you are concerned, give them a call to follow up. While not a rule everyone follows, it does seem to me that most places don't call you unless there is something in the results that bears going over - abnormal cell counts, testing positive for something, low minerals or vitamins in the blood, etc. And I'm not sure what tests you had done, but if it's blood and you're getting a needle in your arm anyhow, I always tell them to do a full blood panel. I like to keep track of what's going on with my B vitamins, iron and CBC (blood cell count). I absolutely loathe getting blood taken so I try to get the most out of it when I have to go get it done.
  17. This is a polarizing issue, I think. It's easy to say it's preference and it's easy to say it's racism. At the end of the day, you just have to believe that ladies are not racist - though some may be. Funny anecdote: I had a client in Ottawa not long before I left who was French Canadian. Suffice to say he was not a nice gentlemen and I asked him to leave not long after he arrived. He called me a racist because he's French. The guy honestly had no idea that he was an asshole, and thought I was a Francophobic Anglophone. Goes to show that once you decide that something is what you think it is, it's hard to change that opinion. Cognitive bias is a real thing hardwired into everyone's brain, afterall.
  18. I always go solo for the holidays, so for me my favorite edibles are: Home made toffee. Think a creamy, soft Wether's. SO GOOD and worth the hour of non-stop stirring to make it! Cornish hen with stuffing; turkey's too big, so it's a great excuse for me to enjoy a little decadence for one. Cranberry sauce made from scratch. Egg nog. Especially home-made egg nog. Whoa mamma! Mashed taters with lots of butter (this girl doesn't do margarine) and gravy. Carrot cake with creamed cheese icing. It's a sort-of tradition I have started with myself. Last, but assuredly not least, is boozy hot cocoa! I use the alkalized cocoa powder for a richer flavor, milk, sugar and a splash of peppermint schnapps. Heaven, especially after a few of them :D
  19. I doubt we'll ever be truly cashless. Cash is an important medium and it's much more easily accessed than bank accounts, online transfers and other such transactions. Though we are leaning towards streamlining everything so it can be accomplished with the swipe of a card or the click of a button, I very much doubt we'll see anything resembling a cashless society for quite some time. Decades, centuries, probably never. It's also worthwhile to touch on the idea of currency. Cash money which is legal tender is internationally recognized as the primary currency. But bartering may make a comeback and the forms of currency may change, as they have through many cultures and through history. It is because of this that I am very doubtful we'll ever be truly cashless because the medium of what is considered to be cash may change, but still be a real-world physical object.
  20. This is an article written a few weeks ago that gives a quick look at the bill. Since there is no media coverage on this bill passing today, it's the best I've got for now. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/cyberbullying-bill-c-13-moves-on-despite-supreme-court-decision/article20885941/
  21. This bill was being touted as an anti-cyberbullying bill. And in the midst of what has happened in Ottawa, Harper has snuck this bill though without anyone noticing. Now, I'm not saying that this bill is an Orwellian Big Brother tactic... but it very easily could be. There has been virtually no coverage on this, since everyone's busy throwing the T word around. The Globe and Mail wrote an article on C-13 a few weeks ago, and it's worth a read if you're not familiar with what the bill is. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/cyberbullying-bill-c-13-moves-on-despite-supreme-court-decision/article20885941/
  22. Derp, I started a thread with a link to this petition just now.... I have signed it and shared it with my friends. Here's hoping something comes of it because, as we all know: the majority of Canadians and certainly those who are connected to the sex trade all agree that this bill is dangerous.
  23. For what it's worth, there is a petition gathering signatures at the moment to petition for the government to amend C-36 before shoving it through. I encourage you to sign it. https://www.change.org/p/stephen-harper-do-not-endanger-the-lives-of-sex-workers
