I like the feature too, but I agree with winnipegcub - Safety before convenience always! If it's being used to harass SPs, I'm totally cool with not having it for a while, until it's made opt-out-able/friends-only, or otherwise tightened up to prevent this kind of misuse. We'll just have to be patient. Rushing where safety and security is concerned is always bad.

I think the point tepic is trying to make is that is that although the generalization may not apply to him, he feels that he is still suffering (in terms of not having many SPs visit his town) for the misdeeds of others. From this perspective, the 'good guys' pay the price for the 'bad apples'. What tepic fails to realize is that the SPs who get stiffed are really the ones who pay. Literally - lost income and travel expenses. Not to mention the personal disrespect is shows. I understand tepic's frustration at the unfairness of it all, but it's the jerks and no-shows who are to blame - quibbling about rates and acting like it's the SP's responsibility is misdirected and unproductive. What's a guy to do? Step 1 - put your own house in order and make sure you're not part of the problem. Be respectful, and show up. <g>

I totally agree. (And I'm a bit disappointed and pissed off at IslandIndependent's clients for making her feel the way she does). I noticed that my dentist office has a sign - "$30 fee (or whatever) for cancellations without 2 business days notice" So, it not only happens there a lot, it happens so often they had to put a sign up about it... Think about how many cancellations they got before they finally threw up their hands and went through the effort of getting a sign made, by a sign maker, for money. I only mention this to point out that it might not be particular to this industry/hobby, but that just about everybody from dentists to hairdressers to lawyers has to deal with clients who are just plain straight-up inconsiderate d!cks.
