Welcome, Hard, to the board. Looks like you're learning the ropes quite well, and most importantly, Lesson #1 - to ask if you're stuck on something, rather than trying to fumble around in the dark! ;) The Search button is one of my best friends. There you can find posts on a particular topic that interests you, posts by individual users, or reco's on providers in your city with specific services or attributes, and much more! A true gold mine! Also, if you haven't done so yet, check out the Sticky threads in the General Discussion Area. Hope you enjoy it here. Well-written first reco, btw! -

A great thread you've started here, DixonD. Coming a little late to the discussion (a dozen posts have been made already), I don't wish to restate too much of what others, particularly RG, have already stated perfectly well. I've only recently begun my hobbyist adventure, and along with first introductions came the nervousness and giddy anticipation - a mixture that really is, upon reflection, pretty exciting! It subsides quickly once the ice is broken, and gives way to the pleasure of spending time with a wonderful person who you like and if she does likewise, then you've hit it off. Whether that is sexual --to varying degrees-- in nature, or more for companionship, depends on the people and situation. The encounters I've had have definitely left behind a pleasant warmth, the recollection of a satisfying meeting of mind, heart, and body. So, in a sentence (gosh, that might be hard) it boils down to trust, respect, kindness, and liking each others' company. Allow me, if you will, just to add that, IMO, looks are quite secondary to personality, but naturally there are certain body types and attributes that will add that certain je ne sais quoi, but *to me* what makes an encounter so special is in part something ethereal that can't be anticipated or defined. And why would we want to lose any of the mystery of it all? Wishing OP and everyone here on the board blissful moments always. ;)

CERB Group Hug - Give or Get a Hug!
futileresistenz replied to BownChickaBown's topic in Fun Threads
Thanks to the OP for starting this wonderful thread. I quickly skimmed all through all posts and it is heartwarming, especially at this time of the year, to see to generous offerings of comfort to those that may be dealing with temporary setbacks, hardship or pain, or just not having the best day, and to see the effect such a small, yet kind gesture has. Here's hoping that that's not the case for you. I wish each and everyone here the best of the holidays and a great start to the New Year! I'm looking forward to new and deepening friendships in 2012. To everyone who needs a big warm holiday hug (or at anytime of the year) or feels like they'd like one, regardless, ...here it is! :) -

I'm with whatsup on this one. I think it would be an awesome way to spend NYE, but I can look forward to an escape in the first week or two of the New Year. ;) -

SP/MA Blogs
futileresistenz replied to Alexandra-Sky's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Interesting question. Absolutely, if there's a lady I'm interested in and I come across her blog, I will look around to get a sense of her style, personality and interests. If the content and presentation is professional, that tells me something about her sense of pride and dedication to her clients and this could make my choice easier. Having said that, a well-put together website that answers all the basic questions well is probably all that is really required. A blog is a great way to put a personal, creative touch on things, and if you want to try your skills in a new way, then by all means. Your choice! Just a quick, hopefully sensible ramble. -

The Deficient Single Person
futileresistenz replied to Daniel17's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I thought I'd make board members (and guests) a recommendation of a very relevant documentary film to this thread that is airing tonight. TVO, in its current Doc Studio series, is paying tribute to the work of documentary film-maker Alan Zweig. For those with a PVR (or the willingness to stay up until about 1 am) TVO is re-airing his documentary film 'Lovable' tonight (10/30) at 11:00 pm. In it, Alan interviews 25 women of all ages (29 to seniors) on their past and current relationships (or lack thereof), feelings of being alone, their dreams of family life, hopes and fears, attitudes on the single lifestyle, and more. Entertaining and captivating, I'd recommend this film to anyone, and especially those single by desire or circumstance. It's also germane to the topic of the hobbyist way of life. Maybe this will spark some fresh, new discussion here in the coming days. Note: Not recommended viewing if you are getting over a recent breakup, or as a date night movie. ;) P.S. As a side note, Alan himself has been single most of his 50 plus years, by his own admissions something of a torturous past, yet soon after releasing this movie in 2007, he found himself in a new relationship with a woman who he has since married and now has a daughter with. -
