  1. Well I can think of lots of other additions which would probably be more harmful. How about gambling? Drugs? As long as you keep your perspective and don't get caught in the emotional trap and it doesn't affect you financially, what's the harm? Glad you are having fun, we all do!
  2. That's great RG, I really look forward to a no nonsense opinion of these technological wonders from someone like yourself. If you log into your Gmail from a web browser, you can add contacts there and they magically "appear" on your phone. What's really cool about that (as opposed to adding them on the phone directly) is that if the phone gets dropped in the water when you are fishing, your new phone has the contacts back a few minutes after you add the Gmail account to it, even if it is a different model :) It's so much easier to manage your contacts that way and you can add a lot more detail then you might be inclined to on your phone. Of course as I mentioned in another post the downside is that evil things like Face Book will silently harvest your contacts no matter how they were added so I refuse to use Face Book any more. Lots of great things in the market, some really cool GPS stuff which would be helpful when fishing :)
  3. Under options -> mail accounts -> Yahoo Mail! -> Sending Mail, change sending name. Although I have an Yahoo account (for groups) I never use it, just forwarded to my Gmail. Hope that helps.
  4. Hey RG: Hope you will post a review here? (After you have had a chance to get used to and familiar with your new phone). I think it would provide interesting insight to those in a similar conundrum. Particularly as it is your first smart phone experience so your view point would be especially authorative on the value of smart phones as you won't be comparing it to your last smartphone. Did you get your email set up? Did you have to create a Google account to get access to the Android Apps Market? Are you using or planing to use Tapatalk to access CERB? Of course the display is the biggest battery killer of all so I wonder how good the battery life is (in the real world as opposed to what Samsung might publish).
  5. Except the place is already way over populated with beautiful local ladies that are willing to work for way less money than any CERB lady. I can think of several reasons why someone would take a CERB lady on vacation or a business trip with them when there are much less costly locals (as I have) but I can't think of any reason why a CERB lady would go there to work or on vacation or business with someone that wasn't very trustworthy and willing to prove it in every way. The few times in the past I have had travel companions they were most impressed with how much responsibility I took for their enjoyment, comfort and most of all their safety and I know from experience it takes a lot for a lady to trust you enough to go on such an excursion. You have to make her independent of you completely with her own everything so she can chose to reverse course and return home without your consent at any moment -- and that is the right way to do it.
  6. Well I think if newbies can't take repeated guidance they best stay newbies. You spoke to some hazards which are very real and very dangerous and tried to give very appropriate guidance on keeping our sense of reality which some will no doubt read and be helped by it, and you did so in a very creative way I must add. But like any thread on CERB it often takes on a life of it's own which was unintended by the original poster. I myself have had threads I started go totally astray. I don't mean to be judgmental of anyone, we all come from different walks of life and are very different people due to our different life experiences and each has a right to their own opinion. Please don't be saddened by our freedom of expression Meg. You did a good thing.
  7. And there was a time when a church would always be open and anyone could enter at any time to say a prayer. This is still true in much of the 3rd world but all the churches where I live are locked until someone opens it before a service and they all need burglar alarms. Maybe this is a symptom of some of the changes in our society. Who would ever burglarize a church? I think drugs, poor parenting, television violence, video game violence and many other factors have changed this generations sense of values and ethics.
  8. I have to agree with that billybob, there have always been snake oil salesmen around in one form or another but it seems people used to be more honest and dishonesty and deceit has become more the order of the day. Consider this little true story: Ok, so we've all had that stray rock strike our windshield on the highway and whap! and then it cracks and spreads and we get a new windshield and as it's like $400 we just pay by credit card. The glass shop is great, highly skilled, but technologically primitive and has a credit card impression machine with the little carbon copy slips. Months go by, more months go by, but oddly we haven't seen the charge on the credit card statement. Hmmm (guess this should be in the thread of things that make you go Hmmm), I wonder if that $400 charge for the new windshield will ever show up? It's been like 6 months. So passing by the auto glass store on my way to the office one morning I stop in and explain the situation, that I had my windshield replaced, paid by credit card and it has never shown up on the credit card statement, did the charge not go through? Was the impression of my credit card not clear enough? What is the problem? The owner is in "shock"! Like why are you here man? What in the world do you want from me? So I explain, I want only to make sure you get your money. I can't in good conscience drive around with a new windshield I haven't paid for. As it turns out the credit card impression wasn't good enough, the bank rejected it, they hadn't recorded my address or license number and had no way of contacting me, so of course I paid for the windshield, the owner then had to shake my hand and congratulate me for being the last honest person left in the world and I was on my way to the office again. $400 is a lot of money for a small business like this to have to absorb as a loss. As I travel along the highway I come upon a horrible "black ice" style of accident that had happened about 20 minutes before with lots of cars and carnage involved. Of course I see the flashing lights of the emergency vehicles and slow right down and pass by with that icky feeling we always get but then I realize that it all happened 20 minutes ago and that's just about exactly how long I spent at the auto glass shop. Hmmm So why did he think I was the last honest person left in the world? Yeah, people that expect to get something for nothing or lack morals are more common these days. I know my parents would do the same, I know many people today that would think they got a free windshield and actually be gleefully pleased to have made like a bandit. Hope that helps!
  9. One thing I forgot to mention RG and I sure noticed this myself, it wasn't so long ago that I had a simple Motorola W385 and then switched to a smartphone; they are pretty un-smart and useless without the data plan and no matter which carrier or phone you choose seems the data plan comes with some significant sticker shock to someone used to a voice/text only plan.
  10. Now that is sexy! On all other points in your post I couldn't agree more Meg. Gentlemen, please respect these Goddesses and their privacy as they give so much and ask so little in return.
  11. Yeah, there is at least one local and a few amateurs also. I can't comment on what I know about any of them :) Some excellent touring ladies from time to time as CristyCurves pointed out but far too infrequently. Even though Sydney is my home base when I am 100%, overall I spend less time there than other places, thank goodness.
  12. Of course and they all do email, and well. Blackberry was the pioneer to put email in your pocket and while they have a loyal following they have failed to innovate, maybe mid 2013? Who knows. So that leaves iPhone or Android which both work well and have more features than you will ever want. Yes, I can stream an HD movie directly from my Android to my TV set in the living room (or just watch it on the decent size screen right on the phone when in the air). I do dislike iPhone as Apple seems to think they still own the device even after you buy it from them (return it to us to have a the battery replaced?, of course you don't have to but if you open the darn thing to change the battery your warranty is void) and I do know a lot of iPhone to Android converts that aren't looking back but there is no denying it is user friendly. I've seen all 3 fall over when it comes to POP3 mail or something like that. In my experience with all 3, nothing is more seamless or works better than Gmail on an Android. Well then I guess you need to go with Rogers? Their service totally sucks in my area but I understand there is no problem in your area. Just the same I think you will find horror stories about any/every carrier's customer service.
  13. I think there are some technical reasons as well. The social groups work in some ways differently than the discussion areas so they don't promote discussion quite as well. You have to go actively looking for new posts for instance. I'm not saying they aren't useful or a failure at all, just not as convenient due to being configured a little differently.
  14. I didn't take any of it as judgmental. There were some confessions and some discussion as to how some things could be a red flag and even some cautions that allowing one's self to develop feelings will likely not have a good outcome but I found the thread interesting and useful just the same.
  15. You are right Lee. I really didn't pay much attention to the original post as it was so ridiculous, that said, international travel companions is something I have done in the past and plan to do in the future but never would I attempt it in such a lame matter :)
  16. Well given that he seems to suffer from multiple personality disorder (from the post history) I think we wouldn't be surprised for him to return under a different identity.
  17. I share your sentiment completely RG. In fact I think the OP is in violation of the CERB rules (discussing illegal) as he is asking for advice on how to breach section 212(1)(h) and 212(2) of the Criminal Code which is illegal. Everyone one else has simply pointed out it is illegal and/or condemned him for it.
  18. Or should that be 17 others as isn't it safe to assume he voted for himself :) And not to poke fun with people that have motor control or movement problems (as that's no fun) but it might have been accidental.
  19. I have seen it advertised on more than one lady's sites and while I prefer to meet them in person it does seem like an interesting way to get to know them a little before hand. I've never tried it but as long as it was just a tasteful social chat (at the advertised rate) could be an interesting screening technique for both? A virtual meeting first, hadn't thought of that.
  20. We find sometimes you can't get rid of these things on the drive you boot from, so we take the disk drive out, connect it to another machine and scan it with that one. Takes a technician to do this, particularly with a laptop. You could try starting up a cmd line and then: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -extoff An expert sitting at the machine should be able to identify the exact variant and track down manual removal instructions, but sometimes after spending a certain amount of time on it we just have to backup the files you need, flatten it and reinstall the OS. That is of course the sure cure :) But most time consuming and inconvenient. And then you have lots of updates to reapply and quite a while until you get everything back the way you like it :(
  21. Well I guess I'm strange but all the fancy lingerie in the world just doesn't do it for me like the image of meg in her PJs. For so many years it was a business suit every day, now I can't wait to get home and loose the Jeans or cargo pants (my current version of a business suit most of the time) and wear those comfortable PJs.
  22. Well I haven't had that problem with a CERB lady but I will relate (because it might be helpful to someone) that I did have that problem (recurring) about 13 years ago now. I was divorced and had a new girlfriend (who is now my wife). So I went to see my Doctor and he told me there are a lot of things that can cause this and at my age most of them temporary and at any age most of them treatable. His "best guess" was that it was the new partner thing, so be prescribed Viagra with some refills on the prescription and told me, "This will get your confidence back and I doubt you really will need to refill the prescription". I didn't really believe him at the time. Turns out he was absolutely right. I was 18 again and never did refill the prescription or need the stuff since. So it was just a temporary bump in the road. Yeah, sooner or later my age may eventually catch up with me and I may need something like this again but it hasn't happened. My point is whatever the cause, 98% of these cases are treatable (according to what I Goggled) with a prescription pad. I remember I was pretty busted up about it at the time. So anyone suffering from this certainly should not get in a slump about it as there is a high probability it is easily and effectively overcome.
  23. Yeah and it continues to climb at a time of the evening when things should be quieting down a bit. Not the server load (as MOD has pointed out) but the link is definitely becoming oversubscribed. Without access to the logs it's impossible to say for sure but I'm guessing we are under attack!
  24. No, my favorite food is the double Whooper from Burger King and you can't get this at any other restaurant than Burger King, yet I do visit other restaurants :) A dental dam? Only if the lady WANTED DATY and that was her restriction. Doesn't sound like much fun with a dental dam but then if the lady thought otherwise (fun for her) then that would make it fun (for me) and I would oblige :)
  25. It may be for real but I'm just a little suspicious in the sudden increase, seems a little too much to quickly and sustained for too long. Could it be an HTTP DDoS Flood attack? So many "guests" as a ratio to registered users online. Hope they really are all real people and CERB has become that popular all of a sudden :)
