  1. If it's from a company or organisation you had anything to do with and give them your email address then you can often opt out of receiving further emails. However, in the case of opting out of real spam, once they receive your request to cease and desist it just fortifies that someone out there at that address (yours) is reading the email so the spammers will treat that as an invitation to send you more and more. Even though the level of spam mail is said to be down to 50% of what it once was, that's still a lot of spam. Of course trying to set up a filter or block real junk mail, well, that's a loosing battle. One misconception a lot of normal, rational and highly intelligent (but non-techie) people tend "believe" is that email has to come from somewhere legitimate but the truth is that "From:" header is no different than the "Subject:" header, it's actually just a comment. Actually EVERYTHING you see in an email is a "comment" and may have no basis in reality. The From: and To: lines have nothing to do with the routing of how the email actually gets delivered - an entirely different dialogue that you never see handles that. I suppose a good analogy is a piece of real letter mail. I can write you a letter and drop it in the mail. The post office doesn't verify that the return address on the envelope is real (or that there even is one). I actually don't get spam anymore, thanks to Gmail. Hotmail is pretty good also but they actually reject messages before they get to you and sometimes when you cast such a wide net you catch something you didn't want to so I prefer the Gmail philosophy of just put it in the spam folder and automatically delete it after 30 days. This is an interesting read: Who has Better Spam Protection? Yahoo, Gmail & Hotmail Tested
  2. I loved that move, but I guess it only proves I have a truly demented sense of humour :)
  3. Lots of ladies don't have a web site. I can see how you might think that Meg ("hard to believe") and might as well tell the truth, CERB although the C in CERB = Canadian, most activity and ads are Ottawa and ladies that tour. Once you think outside NCR (and it's only natural for you to think in NCR terms as that is where you live) it gets easier to believe. So in other cities there may be few CERB ladies, few ads and even none at all like were I live a lot of the time. So if I didn't travel, I'd only see be able to see touring ladies as there are none, that's right, not a one. Of course having gotten bitten by the "oh, my rates are out of date and my web site hasn't be updated forever" once, I err on the side of rude (if it is rude) and always (but politely as possible) insist on a number (and let's not rehash that one, I know that's the lady's bad or many would say so). If I don't get such a number, I move on. I don't try to barter or negotiate (that would be completely rude) but insisting on a firm price for four hours, six hours, eight hours, well I'm uncomfortable with it but I do insist. Truth be told, some ladies just aren't interested in a longer encounter and say so, no problem. And sometimes I can't seem to get a straight answer so I have to politely as possible pull the rip cord. Of course I always try to be as polite and respectful about it as possible.
  4. Well I don't think it is rude - rude would be to "assume" you figured out what the rate is in the absence of complete and accurate data and then get it wrong and have a misunderstanding -- so I always ask pretty bluntly during the booking process which is a little "uncomfortable" for me but way better than rude. As for "restrictions" well that is a different matter, I guess you need to make you expectations clear, I've never worried about that and never found it to be a problem but if you have certain expectations, best to make them clear up front I would think. A number of ladies won't discuss this over the phone, not sure why but that is their business. A few ladies have refused to tell me or confirm their rate when pressed to do so - I have no idea why... perhaps they think I am trying to negotitate when nothing could be further from the truth... I move on pretty quickly when that happens :) Both (rates and restrictions) are non negotiable of course.
  5. You probably have no idea how much we appreciate your efforts and also have an real appreciation for the demands on your time (and let's not forget all the undeserved negative energy that gets thrown at you from time to time). Tapatalk is a valuable service (as sometimes I find myself stuck in a strange city and the lady wants a PM to verify and no laptop) but just the same there has to be a clear business case for keeping it going if it is causing you that much trouble... it may be more trouble than it is worth. We understand and appreciate your efforts and as for the seemingly thankless job: Thanks! Muchas gracias! Merci beaucoup.
  6. Yeah I get the message "Failed to connect to the forum, contact the administrator if the problem persists...", Android version. But then it seems to work "somewhat" if you are persistent but no access to PMs, etc.
  7. Welcome!!! A dumb a question to ask? Well PM me and I'll do my best which is truth be told about 50% as good a answer as you'll get by posting by publicly sometimes that is difficult ;)
  8. I always found that the unscented massage oil from The Body Shop is pretty good. Of course they "can" scent it if you like but I find they never get it right and it ends up being too scented. Unscented is best. The best massage oil will wipe off with a towel and leave almost no residue. Of course we don't have a "Body Shop" near where I live so when I mail order it they always tend to mess up and it leaks in transit. So I normally buy it when I am in a city that has such a store and then use vinyl electrical tape to wrap the cap tightly so the airport baggage handlers don't do me in.
  9. All common browsers (Chrome, Firefox or Internet Exploiter) all have an Incognito or Private Browsing mode. See Privacy mode. That's the only reasonably safe way to ensure that someone else using you computer doesn't see evidence of visiting CERB... Just the same it is called a Personal Computer for a reason :) It's also mildly useful to access CERB as: https://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/index.php and accept the self signed, bad certificate warning - at least then some of your traffic (text, not pictures and banner ads) is SSL encrypted, but you have to keep an eye on it, because if you follow a link to a thread that is http (as opposed to https) then you are inadvertently back to normal clear text http as oposed to encrypted SSL. This happens also if you don't include the /vbulletin/index.php in the URL when initially logging in also. Hope someone finds this info helpful.
  10. I've seen some pretty good performances (and a few bad ones to) in the Soho area of London. Funny story: Once my companion said afterwards "thanks for the peep show" of course I was thinking of it more like "adult" Opera so it was was of those WTF are they thinking kind of moments and then I realized I am either an uninhibited pervert or more enlightened and open minded. Still haven't figured out which or really bothered to try as I decided that was in and of itself subjective. And yes, the Red light district of Amsterdam rocks (in some ways). Certainly they can't get rid of it; I don't think I have ever been there (a few blocks away from the main district where it is still out of site) when someone didn't recognize me as not a native (always wear a Canadian Flag in Europe (Netherlands especially) or risk being mistaken for something else) and asked for directions :)
  11. Best wishes your way my friend. I also am sad to see you go but I echo RoamingGuy's sentiment, not like there is no turning back and be welcomed should you choose to.
  12. No that definitely wouldn't be the case. I'm thinking the jumpy scrolling and lack of full motion video are related. Just poor video performance in general for whatever reason. As for your video card going south, not likely, they tend to either work or not at all but it is possible that some video driver changes in the newer Ubuntu has affected performance of your particular video setup so dropping in a different video card, even one that would normally be discarded could do the trick, no so much what you have is broken, if you know what I mean. We'd need a lot of additional to say, hey here is exactly what you need to do (like the version of Ubuntu you are now running, helpful to know what you were running before that you were used to and worked so well for you too and of course details on the video hardware and chip set). I note that there are lots of YouTube videos on optimizing video playback performance with Ubuntu and even though your audio is lagging might find some help there. It should be an easy problem for the geek squad to solve sitting in front of the machine but in light of your missing files and that you still have a chance to recover them by going back, I think you'd end up the happiest in the end if you did go back as much of a pain as that may be. Wish I could be more help, I know it's distressing.
  13. So we seem to be talking about 3 distinct problems here. Audio, Video and missing files. I'm sure you appreciate the difficultly in trying to be of much help here but lets try... Audio: Ubuntu is great at doing sound and supporting all manner of sound hardware so let's just assume the sound is working! Perhaps you plugged the speakers into the wrong jack when you hooked it up? There are often 3 or more and sometimes they aren't color coded. Can happen. Or it could be simply muted (or turned all the way down). Video: That's a little tougher but you wouldn't be the first to plug the monitor into the junkie on-board video when there is a higher performance card in of of the slots. Ubuntu is smart enough to sense where there is or is not a monitor. If that's not the case it does have system updates much like a windows machine which could achieve a better match to your video hardware. When it comes to the missing files, you say "I transferred my saved info from the old one", well if you did I have to assume you'd know were you put them so lets just suggest that if it is "important" that you not loose these files, best go back before they loose track of which disk drive was yours. Hopefully I've caught or helped solved one or two of the three problems, hope so. If not then the sooner you go back to the repair shop looking for your files the better chance you have of finding them. Sorry to hear of your frustrations.
  14. Welcome Vanguard! I am really pleased to learn that CERB has put down the stereotypes and set straight yet another new member! Seems the world does watch too much American TV and movies that do tend to portray the industry very incorrectly. So welcome to CERB, I hope you learn as much or more here than I did. Very kindest regards, BackRubMan
  15. Yeah, I get that. However, there running out of condoms is no big deal, the providing of services without a condom is common place, several STDs are known to not be even slowed down by the use of condoms and they do fail. Given that there is pretty much a 100% chance that one or more STDs are present, we each need to take responsibility for our own health and to me it's simply not worth the risk. We are talking about a Country were a loving "couple" will decide to be monogamous, get tested, yet abstain until the lab results come back :) Several of my friends did this. Strange (to us, not them) but true!
  16. And that said, some members consistently pick a colour and/or particular font which I kind of appreciate. I'm sure it doesn't take much effort. Of course a simple notepad file on your desktop could contain the font and colour markup coding (both opening and closing) so you could just cut and paste that before you begin writing a post. Like below of course I have to change the square brackets to round ones so it doesn't get marked up. (COLOR="SeaGreen")(FONT="Book Antiqua")Type here(/FONT)(/COLOR)
  17. Well I didn't mean to imply that operators of these tours are necessarily "sketchy" (although I wouldn't be surprised if one or two were, they do tend to come and go a lot) but they also provide many "references" to alleviate such concerns. Many ladies of the Dominican Republic are the most beautiful in the world, in fact it is uncanny how beautiful many of them are. The industry there is almost part of the culture and much more widely and openly accepted than here. The Dominican Republic is a well known and popular sex tourism destination. That said, 24 hour companions are available at a mere fraction of the "adult vacation" package price when combined with a regular vacation package. If you go there looking for that it is easy found on your own (or with very little help from a friendly local). One area I travel through frequently is quite a traffic jam at certain times of the day strictly due to this industrial activity :)
  18. I was thinking along the same lines. Whenever I meet a lady with professional photos (especially retouched ones) well I just find as nice as that may be she really looks better in person :)
  19. Yahoo breach puts users of other sites at risk Thu Jul 12, 2012 2:21pm EDT By Jim Finkle BOSTON (Reuters) - Yahoo Inc reported the theft of some 400,000 user names and passwords to access websites including its own, saying that hackers had taken advantage of a security vulnerability in its computer systems. The security firm Rapid7 said a data file published on the Web contained logins and cleartext passwords for Yahoo as well as several other Internet services, including Google Inc's Gmail and AOL as well as Microsoft Corp's Hotmail, MSN and Live sites. "It's way bigger than Yahoo," said Rapid7 researcher Marcus Carey. "We can assume that tens of thousands of people on services outside of Yahoo could be compromised." Yahoo apologized for the breach in a written statement, responding to the latest piece of bad news for a company that has lost two chief executives in a year and is struggling to revive stalled revenue growth. Chairman Alfred Amoroso acknowledged that Yahoo had experienced a "tumultuous" year at its annual shareholder meeting on Thursday morning. Interim CEO Ross Levinsohn told attendees he was optimistic about the company's progress. Yahoo spokeswoman Dana Lengkeek did not respond to a request asking her to identify the companies whose credentials were stolen. Officials with Google, AOL and Microsoft could not immediately be reached for comment. Yahoo did not disclose how many passwords were valid or say how many of the stolen logins were for Yahoo's sites. Lengkeek said "an older file" had been stolen from Yahoo Contributor Network, an Internet publishing service that Yahoo purchased about two years ago. It helps writers, photographers and videographers to sell their work over the Web. "We are fixing the vulnerability that led to the disclosure of this data, changing the passwords of the affected Yahoo! users and notifying the companies whose users accounts may have been compromised," she said. The theft follows a breach reported last month by the business networking service LinkedIn, which resulted in the release of some 6.4 million member passwords.
  20. Yes, reading those unspoken clues is mysterious and great but I have to say that when someone is able to articulate with words what they really like, in that they are in touch with them self to really know what pushes their buttons and open enough to disclose it, well that is seriously magically also. Might not be as mystical as the unspoken but such knowledge does make for a great lover as everyone is different in their own special way.
  21. Welcome! I hope you find this place as enlightening and helpful as I have.
  22. Christine, I never "jump to conclusions" or automatically consider anything "sinister" but merely mentioned it was prudent to consider all possibilities, that said, I am signing off for a while to deal with my moral dilemma. Will always think of you in the most positive light.
  23. Ok so this has gotten way too far out of hand. When an SP acts strangely (erratic behavior, sudden lucrative offer, whatever) I have a right to at least consider all possibilities and then when people can't agree with that common sense approach and force me to site actual bad experiences where I didn't listen to my spidey senses I'm the bad guy. So be it. Feel free to judge and condemn me in anyway you like. In fact I hope everyone has a piece of me and in so doing makes them self feel more superior (sincerely). No more in flight WiFi for me today and I have another plane to catch.
  24. Good point but here is another good one. I have stayed at literally thousands of hotels and they almost all (99.9%) offer parking and all the amenities one could ever want for them to be considered SP friendly. The only exception seems to be facilities that are geared to longer term stays. Those are the ones we find you need a key card to access the elevators and ever wonder why? Because they have less security presence on site :)
  25. Agreed. But I still stand by my answer from high in the clouds (I wonder how many CERB posts are made from up there?). Reputable SPs won't negotiate and real gentleman even won't ever try to. So when there is a sudden change there is a sudden change (for whatever reason and there must be a reason), is it not therefore reasonable to at least consider that it may be sinister in nature?
