Advice from ladies (or gents) for a lady
backrubman replied to a topic in Ottawa Discussion - Massage
Wow, that sounds like a police matter to me. If you had said "thousands of text message an hour" I would have assumed you were exaggerating but when you said "literally get thousands of text messages an hour" that's got to be illegal (in a couple of ways I can think of) and the carrier (telco) and police should be able to help with that. Even if the police didn't want to help (and I can't imagine why they wouldn't), if any of it can be proven a civil suit to recover damages might get the nasty people(s) attention and make them think twice about continuing this ridiculous campaign of harassment (and that's easy filed in small claims which shouldn't be called small claims because at least in Nova Scotia I think the limit is $25,000 now). Too bad she couldn't switch to a 1-900 number. I know I'd have no problem paying a couple of bucks to set up an appointment with a reputable lady (people call 1-900 numbers to get a weather report), of course anyone calling to annoy or harass her would have to pay too. Yeah, auto dial my 1-900 number and make me rich you dummy! Ok, so maybe setting up a 1-900 number isn't so easy but then you can have a Skype-In number in just about any country of the world and that can be forwarded to a secret number anywhere. So think about it, the lady has a number in the Caribbean (like I do), it costs $0.16/minute for someone to call it from Canada, so I can't imagine having to talk with her for more then 10 minutes to set up an appointment, oh wow, that just cost me a whole $1.60, but of course a lot more if I am war dialing to annoy her (which I would never ever do of course). Additional comments: Actually her number doesn't need to be off-shore, just a different city. We often encounter this with travelling SPs, they have their home base cell phone with them and we never mind paying the toll charges to that city to call them from across town, just a very minor cost of doing business but an annoyance and cost to anyone that would call for any other reason. -
And while your at it, why not suggest she join CERB. It's another free place for her to advertise (unless she wants to buy banner ads), she might get some additional business, maybe even some good reviews and build a good reputation like so many of the ladies here have. I do wonder why people bother with CL, BP and SEA when there is so many nice ladies to choose from here. Oh, I know there are some real gems out there advertising in those places but I also know the opposite is occasionally true. Fake photos, Bait and Switch, con or rip off artists are there also and I agree with you completely, who has the time/$ to experiment? In fact, even if I did have the time for this I just wouldn't feel safe about it like I do with a well reviewed CERB lady. Once in a distant city I needed help (oddly of a non-sexual nature) so I went into the chat room, lady started private chat with me (I never would), I explained the problem, she offered to help, turns out she was right next door, I did my research (her reviews and all her posts here on CERB) and quickly found she was exactly what she said she was and couldn't possibly be anything else but (a long and extensive history on CERB with a great reputation) so 5 minutes later she was knocking on my door and I wasn't the least bit nervous about it as I knew a lot more about her than she did about me, problem solved. She helped me and I helped her (slow evening for her). Wouldn't dare do that with any other site :)

Well I had a look at her ad and it seems she might be using a real pic and seems quite photo challenged (and we know the other is fake). Perhaps she just doesn't realize that this is so very wrong. I suppose if she was contacted and advised of this discussion her reaction would be a real tell. If she is embarrassed, apologetic and fixes it might not be all bad. That said, although this would be an interesting experiment it's one I don't have time for when there are ladies that are absolutely real and I don't have to wonder about them.
-
OMG! That is so creepy! Only a real creep would try that, very icky. I admit I didn't connect the dots on that one. I'll be more mindful of it now for sure and I'll bet SPs will also, particularly those that don't publish photos showing their face (which they have every right to choose to not do). The thought of an unauthorized photo or heaven forbid video by means of a cell phone.... oh brother... what you ladies may encounter. Of course the thought of that (or rather hidden video surveillance in general) has occurred to me in an in-call location and I suppose given enough time a creepy client could plant some hidden video surveillance in a hotel suite during an out-call encounter.... If either party didn't know they were being recorded it would be tantamount to rape (and that somehow seems an understatement, not to diminish in any way the serious crime that rape is or something like this would be). Oh just thinking about it upsets my stomach. But then we do have to think about this (both clients and SPs), but not now, perhaps another time on an empty stomach when there is nothing to bring up. No smiley faces appropriate in this post.

She does get around, that's a lot of frequent flier miles. Seriously, fake pics = stay far far away, would anyone ever think different?
-
As a client, I always leave mine ON! But then as the client don't I have that right? I usually explain (if I haven't seen the lady before) than my phone only rings when it is critically important (which is pretty rare) but it has happened during an appointment a couple of times. As it is on 24 hours a day and the very few people that have the number know it is for emergency use only it would be suspicious in and of itself if they did call and it went straight to voice mail. I do very much appreciate that the lady either turns hers off or makes it silent, but then it is likely to ring at any time whereas mine will only ring if it is a real emergency (or a wrong number) :)

Clearly, recommendations (CERB is a recommendation board) are of great importance. It's not so much the content of the recommendations as it is the fact that there are some - it tells me there were happy clients and they usually say in the recommendation that they will repeat and see this lady again. Now for someone starting out, sure there won't be any recommendations and therefore I am less likely to "trust", doesn't mean she can't catch my interest but let there be no doubt, the ability with CERB to view every recommendation and every post a lady has ever made gives a potential client the ability to get a pretty clear picture in just a very few minutes. Not only of what her clients think about her but what she thinks about things on a number of topics and even some idea of her personality with blinding speed and efficiency. I imagine the reverse is also true, if the lady wants to learn about me doing her due-diligence she has equal power. So if you are new and don't have a "history" here, it's IMHO well worth the time and effort to contribute and the recommendations and additional interest in your services as a result of that will come in the fullness of time.

Well I certainly don't mind the banner ads and kind of like the fact that Emily Rushton's amazing sparkly eyes are usually staring at me when I log into CERB. One other lady I know has a regular Sponsor's List ad so it's a convenient link to her web site whenever I want to go there. Hey, CERB is so wonderful and free (to those that don't buy advertising) it has to be supported by advertising. Of course only the advertisers could tell you how effective they really are or at least we would hope they would know.

And no offense intended to you as this unfortunately is the attitude of many people but it is not illegal and never has been (in Canada). Thanks for reminding us that so many people think this way, perhaps from American TV? I actually don't like the word (or term) prostitution or prostitute. While I have met a number of ladies here I have yet to meet one I would consider to be a prostitute :) They are "professional" friends or companions to me. I don't think I have ever paid for sex; while that does sometimes (ok, often) occur in such a "professional" relationship and is almost expected, well to me it's never anything I ask for or expect. That said, when I make an appointment with such a lady she generally has the expectation that is what I am looking for and I've had to stay late after school to live up to her expectations :) Welcome to CERB!

Well in all fairness I'm the one that suggested that "euphemism" might be the case. I also "know" that most ladies limit themselves to a maximum of two clients / day (I also know of just a few that will fit is as many as time will allow). But lets call a spade a spade. If the lady has $1000 cash for the day, when she sits down to make that log book entry knowing that 29% + what ever the applicable provincial rate might be is going to the government to buy those F-35s we don't need, well, I just don't see "most" people being this honest. That said, I like your idea about a registered business and lower tax rate applied to that.

Yes, I'd be interested in part 2 as well. Most of what you say is dead on, I don't get the double CPP thing unless it's a real business with other employees and you are paying yourself a salary also. Wouldn't be the case with a self employed SP? And as for backtracking the "hey guys I'm booked" posts, this (in this space that can mean many things, other than that). For instance, it could be a block booking from a single inconsiderate gentleman that turns out to be a no show, but the SP should have records to show this. In another instance the SP just doesn't feel like working any more that day or for the rest of the week and doesn't want to offend her regular clientele and in the final instance, it may be that not only does she not "feel" like working or is able to work (for whatever reason, could be family obligations, that time of the month, etc.) but also wants to advertise she is in demand :) Anyways, thanks for your post, I find most of it highly accurate to the point I suspect you may work for CRA :)

Getting an escort pregnant
backrubman replied to checkingoutpei's topic in Legal discussion, cases & questions
Doesn't change a thing in my mind, I read the news article you refer to and re-read my post #6 in this thread, nothing changed. Seems even he owned up to it until it became inconvenient or a financial burden. Can't think of a more wonderful financial burden to have or any better purpose for my money and time than to fully support any child I would cause to be brought into this world under any circumstances with every fiber of my existence. If I found out I might be a father, I would gladly want to know if it was so, and take full responsibility for my actions and then some. Interesting the brothel may be liable also though (in this case), thanks for the link. -

I can't quite agree with that. I really value my relationships with my "professional" friends and our "relationship" grows with each successive visit. That said, I never ever would invade their private life in any way and I expect the same in return. The lines of demarcation are very clear to me and I know I shall never have anything to do with them outside of this "professional" friendship (and expect the same in return) but it still is very much a friendship and doesn't end at the doorway. In fact it just gets better every time I visit one of my friends and they become more familiar with me and me with them. Familiarity, trust, understanding, acceptance, friendship, it's all there... that stays there when I leave but it doesn't "end" there but contact outside of this "professional" relationship is unwelcome in both directions and that's a huge plus, not a minus. -

Sorry, but I would just have to answer the first words she said to me with: Yo no hablo Inglés! Unless she is totally dense, she should be pretty quick on the uptake. I did run into an SP once when I was alone and she "appeared" to be also, in a grocery store in Ottawa, but how could I be sure someone wasn't with her and going to come around the corner at any moment? So we passed each other like strangers. On another occasion I was in a restaurant with friends and she passed by my table with only a slight knowing smile that no one could be sure of just as expected. Of course at the same restaurant on the same day, my Doctor had no such discretion. The only way I'm going to speak with an SP in public is when I am meeting her for lunch on purpose which is pretty much what I'm going to do with any SP I haven't met before (when practical). I think being discreet is part of the deal, and should work both ways! -
Maybe such a person could help you reach some financial goals over the long term as well with regular savings, etc. When I gave up being employed I also gave up my pension and benefits so if I am sick and can't work, I don't get paid. I have no dental, no drug coverage, no paid holidays, nothing at all in fact. I'm ok with that now but if it was like 10 years ago (living pay cheque to pay cheque) I'd be totally petrified. So I think it is important for anyone to get all their financial goals in order. Especially bad for an SP I would think as it would be difficult to get disability insurance and then if you got it and became disabled (or had to take 6 months off due to some necessary surgery or some such), it might be really difficult to collect anything from the insurance company. I do wonder are there any SPs that have disability insurance? That have insurance against having to take 6 months or more off for medical reasons? It worries me a bit, lets say I get hit by a car and it's a hit and run... maybe just an outright car accident (they do happen) well if I'm still alive but in the hospital for a year I won't be earning any income. Something to think about.
-
Yes, well just to clarify on that Samantha (so no one gets bitten) I would imagine that without payment of income tax throughout the year by installments and assuming income of enough to live on, you'd end up owing some taxes. So for self employed persons while it is true that the filing deadline is June 15, the pay up deadline is still April 30, so in my case having prepared my return to know how much I owed (extremely "cruel and unusual punishment"), having to prepare the return to determine how much I owed and pay it by April 30, might as well file. The June 15 deadline is only helpful if your business is operating at a loss and we certainly hope that would never be the case. From the CRA web site: "your return for 2011 has to be filed on or before June 15, 2012. However, if you have a balance owing for 2011, you still have to pay it on or before April 30, 2012." Oh darn, I just cut and pasted that, shameful! :) So if you owe taxes on April 30th and any reputable service provider does, technically you are fined 5% of what you owe when you haven't paid by the 30th and it just gets worse from there. I was so busted up when I found out how much I owed (and paid it two hours before the deadline) I had to spend a lovely afternoon with a wonderful lady to have her to take my mind off it and she did :) I'm all better now.

one phone number, several people

And while you are running, run the phone number through the number checker on Cowboy Kenny's diary: http://www.cowboysdiary.info/ just for curiosity sake. -
Race and preference
backrubman replied to piano8950's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Interesting. Well in Spanish use the wrong word or the right word in the wrong way or pronounce it poorly so it sounds like a different word and they will be throwing punches :) So I take no offense, it's just that "race" is a dirty word here but then I've used dirty words without knowing it also, so no offense is taken by me what-so-ever. In fact, I love Central America as there is truly no racial discrimination there (that I have ever seen). No black or white, but 200 different colours so colour no longer matters to anyone. Wish it were so here also. Doubtless will be someday. So your thread is tainted by it's title. I think a discussion of cultural differences particularly from the view point of any open discussion being offensive where you come from is very non-offensive here but you may need to wait a few days and start a new thread that avoids stereotypes and race. -
Race and preference
backrubman replied to piano8950's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Agreed, I'd suggest a longer pole than 10 feet if I had any sense. But only becuase "race" is in the thread title. In all fairness to the OP, I think the essence of the question is more cultural and sincere with no racial connotations intended --and I am both dumb and stupid so boldly go where no one has gone before. In fact it is these very cultural differences that may have made this thread seemingly untouchable. But in learning Spanish, I made my fair share of very embarrassing mistakes (eh, some were whoppers). So just where is it you "come from" piano8950 if you don't mind me asking? And as he says "intimacy is treated with such secrecy, that to talk about it risks offending." so they gotta be "different" (culturally). The content on CERB would be an eye opener for someone from such a culture. The thread about favorite sexual positions comes to mind :) -
Race and preference
backrubman replied to piano8950's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
What ever differences there may be would clearly not be racial but would be strictly cultural and have nothing to do the the colour of a person's skin. Of course given how complex and widely varied human sexuality is even among a group with in the same culture and background, I doubt we can easily distinguish these differences in any meaningful way if they do exist. That said, a lady once told me she loved Japanese sailors because of the way they made love to the point she would find out in advance when a ship of such origin was to arrive and make sure she was around. When? What? Why? How? Details? Seemed impolite to ask at the time :) The answer may be that they were very generous, grateful and simply good tippers. Perhaps they paid in Yen terms with Canadian dollars, 80 Yen = 1 Dollar so maybe they paid 80 times more :) -
I think a "gentleman" should reschedule if he believes there is any chance of being contagious (cold, flu or otherwise). Of course when you do first encounter such an infection you are contagious before symptoms become apparent (even to you) so the ladies are going to get more than their share of colds and flu exposure, so if you know you have it, clearly the decent thing to do is to reschedule. The few times I have encountered someone at the office who clearly should not be there, and then some 24 hours later develop symptoms of my own, well, lets just say they don't have my gratitude :) I'd be severely busted up to know that I had caused someone to have to take time off work.

I like RoamingGuy for his outstanding reputation here as a "know it all" (and he really does, so it's well deserved) and he finally beat LeeRichards into submission (and made him admit he was a better fisherman) with his Wikipedia of fishing knowledge which gave me a really good laugh that I so sorrily needed! He's also now spent way too much time in the hold here, so I'll volunteer to stand in for him here for a while :)

Fighting a traffic ticket
backrubman replied to hunknhot's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
And studies (lots of them) have shown that fast drivers, particularly on safe four lane highways are paying more attention and less likely to get in an accident than those well under the "speed limit" so why the higher insurance rates? Because it's a thinly veiled but plausible excuse to gouge you and they can, that's why. But then insurance companies are, in general, evil by nature. I was appalled by the recent article in Bloomberg a few months back were they deny claims in life insurance policies as a matter of policy and hope the poor widow doesn't know how to sue them and when it turns out they do, just pay then and only then (a few hours before the trial is scheduled to begin). Many don't know how to sue and they save the money they would have to pay out... worst case they keep the money in their bank account longer. Sickening. Now, I agree if you are driving recklessly fast that is a different matter entirely, then you are a higher risk for them. -
After reading that I can't decide if I should trade in my Honda for a BMW or my BWM for a Honda :)

I hope what you say (in this instance) is true. I only see one person on this thread "arguing", everyone else seems in complete and total agreement.
