  1. I've done variations on this recipe that have turned out nicely... You can get really creative! http://www.acouplecooks.com/2011/11/stuffed-acorn-squash-with-quinoa-and-herbs/
  2. And likewise, just because they have changed once does not mean it can't change again. A word is just a word until you give it the power to hurt. Posted via Mobile Device
  3. We use the terms dick, prick, asshole, bitch, etc.. Why is a similar word any worse? We can use the male anatomy as an insult, but don't you dare use the female anatomy in the same way? Posted via Mobile Device
  4. Origins, sure. Doesn't dictate current usage. Posted via Mobile Device
  5. Seriously? There is a published book with that word as the title. Maybe I'm more liberal than the majority here, but I'm not offended by the term. Posted via Mobile Device
  6. If someone's unwilling to provide a reference, that's their loss. I'm not about to compromise my safety because Joe Blow doesn't want to provide me with a contact. Obviously, I don't ask for a reference every time; if you have a good and active board presence, I'm not going to ask, but my one no show so far (when I was new and green and took a chance) was from a phone call who claimed not to know what cerb is - and I only advertise here. 7. Well, no, but you would ask your family doctor for a referral to someone who offers different services (ie. ob-gyn, urologist, oncologist). We're not all cookie cutters of each other, offering the exact same experiences. If a client wants to see another provider, I'm more than happy to provide a reference because: 1. It establishes contact with another SP, and encourages that SP to give references him/herself. Pay it forward! 2. It shows that the client is willing to go through the reference procedure. I just don't understand why some people have such a hang-up about them - they ensure everyone's safety. Reviews/recommendations are a way of clients to refer a lady, if you think about it. 3. Refusing a (good) client a referral makes me look like a jackass, and probably ensures that he's going to think twice about booking me again. Possessiveness just doesn't mesh with this line of work - I'm certainly not exclusive with a client, so why should he be exclusive with me? 4. If a petite brunette is what has you hot and bothered right now, I'm not going to be able to fulfill that desire. Plain and simple. On that note, I appreciate a note from the client in question asking if it's okay to use me as a reference. Not to ask permission, per se, but it's a sign of respect. You wouldn't give out a work reference without giving that person a heads up that they may be getting a call.
  8. I don't mind the fall change, an extra hour of sleep is always welcomed, but losing an hour always hurts for the first couple of days! I'm thankful my boss is out sick today, because I am useless at work today.. Hiding out, surfing the net on my phone.. Posted via Mobile Device
  9. Yup! Fill a glass with ice, then fill it half-way with hot coffee and then top up with Coke (has to be regular, not diet - the sugar is important!).
  10. Tiger beer - nom nom nom! Bella, if you like Asian beers, try that or Tsing Tao. Both are great :)
  11. Coffee and coke over ice. Sounds strange, but I picked up the habit while working in a restaurant, and it has a kick! Rockstar Juiced or Coffee have replaced my sugar-free Redbull kick, but I don't drink them as much any more. Plain old coffee does the trick, with the bottomless pot at work!
  12. Buy me a car and I'll drive you around!
  13. Oh So Good used to be really great for desserts, coffee, and atmosphere, but it has really gone downhill over the years - table service only on weekend evenings? I'd recommend Memories instead, they are just around the corner and their cakes are not frozen.
  14. I browse on my mobile during the day while I'm at the day job. Relieves boredom! Posted via Mobile Device
  15. I was on a flight home (am waiting for my connection now), but the captain kept us up to date. Was rather amusing to have 3/4 of the plane cheering for our 2-1 lead!
  16. I actually rather enjoy window shopping with an SO, provided I am included in it and not being ignored! [Window shopping = you can look, but don't touch!]
  17. I used to wax, but it seriously irritated my skin. I use an epilator [best purchase EVER] and a Quattro for the more delicate areas.
  18. I am not one to advocate breast implants, but Gina, that statement is not true. The ability to breastfeed after implants depends largely on whether there was any nerve damage, as nerve stimulation triggers the brain to produce prolactin and oxytocin, and whether the milk ducts are intact. Generally, if the incision is made under the breast fold or under the armpit, it is less likely to cause damage. An incision made around the areola is more likely to cause damage.
