Divulging your name
Kathryn Bardot replied to CristyCurves's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
The diagnostic criteria for psychopathy and borderline personality disorder are NOWHERE near the same. Not at all. I don't know what articles you are reading, but for one, Wikipedia is not always the best source of information. Best, Someone who has studied psychology. -
You know, up until this point: I was willing to excuse what could potentially be poor choice in wording or a language barrier. If OP had simply asked, can anyone recommend a provider in the $xxx-$xxx range, this wouldn't be offensive. But then OP took it a step further: And further still: Something. Something. Some thing. Not a person, but a thing. And just to be sure, reiterated again: OP, even if my rates were somehow in your concept of a "cheap" price range (because yes, one person's affordable might be out of reach for another person), your post has successfully made my vagina completely retract back up into my body, where it is currently hanging out with my spleen and is never producing another drop of lubrication, ever.

Husband of a Wife suffering from mental illness
Kathryn Bardot replied to Happyjack's topic in Fun Threads
This is the second time you've mentioned children and PPD, is there a reason why you keep referring to potential consequences to children? From what I've read, this is not the OP's concern at the moment. I don't think it's especially beneficial to the discussion, either, or to the stigma that is attached to parents who have mental health issues. Yes, PPD is risk factor for new parents, both male AND female. But if someone has previously been diagnosed with depression, and decides to try for a pregnancy, chances are very good that they will be aware of the risks and their GP/OB-GYN will follow closely. The real risk is when people go under the radar; that is, they have not previously been diagnosed with a mental illness, and so their "baby blues" are often written off as just that, and not taken as a mental health concern. Another risk factor is when people hide or brush off their symptoms due to the stigma of mental health, especially PPD and what we see in the media (note: highly sensationalized, and really, we only see it reported when something tragic happens. Many folks have PPD and don't harm their children). -
Husband of a Wife suffering from mental illness

Denying or lying about your feelings is only a temporary fix, and, as you've said, is causing you additional stress. Would you consider a couple's therapy session, with the aim to help both of you communicate more effectively? It can be exhausting to be the sole support, whether that is physically, emotionally, and/or financially, whether the causes are physical or mental illness. It's okay to have these feelings. It's okay to take care of yourself. There is support out there for both you as a family member, and your wife. In Ottawa we have the Psychiatric Survivors of Ottawa, which is peer-led and offers supports to both individuals experiencing mental health issues and their family members (WRAP programs and peer support). They also have quite a number of links to supports like the Mood Disorders Support and CMHA. As Jafo has said, there is also the Royal Ottawa, which can be an excellent resource, but usually does have a long waiting list for referrals. If that is something you might be interested, it is always easier to get on the waiting list and change your mind or not need it later, than to try and get that support when you or your wife is in crisis. There is also the Mental Health Crisis Line (613-722-6941) and the Distress Centre Line (613-238-3311). Good luck :)- 19 replies

A new lube?
Kathryn Bardot replied to CristyCurves's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
This is the one I'm currently using! I use it in cooking and baking, add it to my smoothies, use it as a moisturizer and hair treatment, and as a massage oil. It's great! -

Honestly, you need to be proactive about your own sexual health and know what tests are available to you and ask for them. Personally, I've had to argue with one of the nurses at the sexual health clinic for an HIV test because they deemed me "low risk" due to condom use and did not want to include blood tests -- just the urine test for chlamydia and gonorrhea. Know what tests you want included and check with the nurse/doctor to be sure they're including them on the requisition. In Ontario, this is what a general requisition looks like. All of the test codes are on the back of the form, which gives you an idea of what public health can test for (HIV testing is a separate form).

Locker room type behaviour?

How is talking about drugging and raping women "locker room behaviour"? "I want to b-ang her" is completely different from what was posted by these individuals. -

Locker room type behaviour?
Kathryn Bardot replied to a topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Why is the onus not on them -- their actions are what caused this. If I were to plagiarize in my studies, there would be consequences. As a student, I know that this is unacceptable behaviour, and what the consequences are, which can include expulsion from my program. So, if I plagiarize, what then? Is it my professor or my faculty's fault that I am now unable to complete my degree? Are they responsible that I am going to have difficulties applying to another school/field? No, it's my own fault for behaviour that I knew what inappropriate and which went against the rules for my school. Where will they go? Honestly, my question is: what are they going to do? I haven't been following the story closely, but my guess is if they want to continue elsewhere, they are going to need to accept responsibility for their behaviour and work to prove that they have learned from this and can behave as mature, respectful adults. -

I'm guessing that none of the people in your examples are medical professionals who, one day, will be responsible for the care of a patient who is under anesthesia. -
Single pod coffee Machine, which do you prefer?
Kathryn Bardot replied to someguy's topic in Fun Threads
I had a Tassimo that I used for about a year, on and off, but never really liked it, especially if I need to make more than one cup (and let's face it, student life means LOTS of coffee). So, I after it sat on top of my fridge for almost a year without being used, I gave it away. I'm much happier with my Bodum (french press) and coffee grinder. -

Supreme Court or While You Were Sleeping

They weren't named to the SCC -- one named to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the other to the Ontario Court of Appeal. Both are courts along the way to the SCC, and both decisions, as we saw with Bedford, can be appealed to a higher court. -

Swimsuit/Spandex Fetish

I have two ;) One option is to find someone who catches your eye and ask if she has one, or if she would able to indulge you if you brought a swimsuit along for her.
