Hey, is that the same Bambi who was dancing at the Fax a few months ago? I miss her, and that description fits...

Which songs give you goosebumps?

Here's mine. Chokes me up every time: The Pogues performing "And the Band Played Waltzing Mathilda". Youtube video . I'm not Australian, and not old enough to remember the First World War, but you don't have to be to be affected by this song. There's even a synergistic effect if you have seen Peter Weir's film Gallipoli (with added Mel Gibson bonus). -
If the lockout happens, I'm dumping cable TV. Buh-bye Rogers! Hockey was the only thing I watched on tv last year.

Your Greatest Albums....

Lot's of great stuff above. Here's one that I return to again and again: Sort of a debut, but Van had already made his mark with "Brown Eyed Girl" and "Gloria". I like how Rolling Stone describes it (#19 on their top 500 album list): This is music of such enigmatic beauty that, thirty-five years after its release, Astral Weeks still defies easy, admiring description. -
Got lost in Orleans recently on my way to an encounter. Realized that my ex has de-mapified the glove box. What to do? Being male, I can't ask for directions! I stop at Mac's, buy a map and on a whim, a lottery ticket. Map doesn't help, I get more lost, I'm officially late, it's starting to snow, and I'm forced to ask for directions - she was very helpful and when I finally get there, very sweet about it. No, scratch that, she was just very sweet. :) So I already felt the karmic swing towards happiness. And I just discovered that the lottery ticket was a $20 winner! Must be God telling me to visit her again. Yup, I'm certain of it.

Ghoti is much older than the UN - it's usually attributed to George Bernard Shaw. -
Here's a quote I am surprised I never heard until I had been employed for 20 years. I wish I had discovered it after finishing school! "Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing." Theodore Roosevelt

Things I've Learned In 2011
ajd20000 replied to Alexandra-Sky's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
2011 has been a year of transition for me. I am finally coming to terms with being single again, and trying to be a better father, friend, sibling, and coworker. Somehow in neglecting myself I have neglected those most important to me as a result - I will strive to do much better in 2012. Thanks, Sky, for starting this thread and for, ummm, starting the healing process for me. -
An Open Letter Of Appeal To The Cerb Community

This is a great community and has been incredibly helpful to me as a noob in just the few weeks I have been a member. I would hate to lose that! -
Thanks Berlin, for mentioning graphic novels. I found Paying for It and it's helping this noob understand hobbying better. I'll be looking for Rent Girl next. And Watchmen was awesome! The movie not so much. A good friend lent me the book just before the movie came out. The touchpoint for me was the sex scene: in the comic it's a beautiful shared moment between two awkward people who have been denying their attraction for too long; in the movie it's clearly just something tossed together by the director to earn a PG13 rating or whatever. Props to friends who recommend good books to read!

Sex: basic human right?

The philosophers here may wish to read Foucault's History of Sexuality. In my university days I struggled through half of the first volume. He says a lot of interesting things about guilt, repression, and how sexuality defines us, which was touched on in this thread.
