Your Favourite Roller Coaster Ride
tokan replied to Jabba's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
The first two roller coasters I ever went on were actually the two wooden coasters at wonderland about three years ago now. I can honestly say I've never been more terrified in my life. Especially sine I didn't secure my restraints tight enough and I felt like I was going to fly out of my seat the whole time down. Also all the shaking the coaster did around the track didn't help. I think I may have left some indentations in the handlebars where my hands were. After that the next coaster I went on I literally tightened the harness up to the point it was almost cutting off circulation. Loved the water slides though, especially the ones you go down on innertubes through tunnels and you have no idea which direction your facing. Didn't make it to behemoth though. Took one look at that and may have said something to the effect of screw that, just maybe not so politely ;) -
I've always thought there is a time and a place for the truth. Now I will definitely agree with cristy that when your not interested in someone it is better to be honest than leave them on the hook, just because the longer you lead them on the more it will hurt when the truth finally comes out. But there are other situations where in all honesty it might be better to protect someone from the truth.

Haha that is great, been a while since I've seen bambi. The first little bit always made me kind of sad but that scene always made me laugh. And I think I was feeling a bit like all three not to long ago ;) I think this is the happy gilmour scene I mentioned earlier:

Yeah I've never really cared much for the bachelor either since most of that is staged. I can be a bit of a romantic too, although most people I know might be surprised by that at first. I will admit I am a bit of a sucker for a classic romantic movie like breakfast at Tiffany's, although that might also be because I had a bit of a crush on Audrey Hepburn, lol. If you've never watched gone with the wind that is definitely a romantic classic. If you like southern belle's and cowboys/renegades that is a must see. I grew up on Disney movies so I'll admit that I loved watching movies like Aladdin or Lion King growing up. I think Aladdin was probably my favourite just cause Robin Williams nailed the genie part. And I loved Adam Sandler movies, especially Happy Gilmour. That scene were he is singing into the intercom and the old Asian lady ends up coming up to his room cracks me up every time. And you can't forget shooter magavin taking over his happy place, lol. Too be honest I'm not huge on love songs/music videos but every once in a while there is one that strikes a chord. It's more of the old time stuff like the Beegee's more than a woman or Roy Orbison's you got it that I like. Or maybe some good old fashioned Barry White, lol. I agree though that love seems to be in the air in the spring, although maybe it's just the hormones, lol.

Hi Peachy :) I've always been a fan of love stories with a comedic aspect to it so one of my all time favorite love stories would have to be something about Mary. I will admit though that I am a sucker for a classic like beauty and the beast, but let's just say I'm not sure I'd admit that too my friends as they might not let me live that down, lol.

When a good friend recommends....
tokan replied to Meg O'Ryan's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
My friends and I generally have similar tastes when it comes to movies and tv so when they recommend something I usually like it. On the odd occasion that I don't like something I try to politely say that I really didn't like it, and we usually end up discussing it. I'll usually finish movies even if I don't really like it, unlesss it's bad and I mean Hollywood homicide bad. But when it comes to tv if I don't get into it by the first couple of episodes I won't watch anymore. -

Hello everyone :) Thanks for all the friendly welcomes and all the advice! I can tell you as a newbie it is very much appreciated. I have been doing some more research since my initial post and have found some lovely ladies that do make the occasional trip this way so I may give them a try. One thing I am kinda regretting now is not looking into this back when I was going to university back in Ottawa. They rarely let us engineering students out of our dungeons....err labs during the semester so let's just say this community would have made things much easier ;). I may have to make the trip to Ottawa or Kingston one of these days, just because there is so much more available there. I think for my first time with a sp I may just stay local if only because it would probably make things a bit more comfortable. Anyway thanks again for the warm welcomes and I look forward to chatting with everyone!

I'd probably have to say that my guilty pleasure is cheesy movies. Not just movies like top gun, weekend at bernies, or any arnie movie really, but also movies like troll 2 that are so bad at points that you literally can't stop laughing.

Religious/Spiritual Views
tokan replied to Kate von Katz's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I know I may be reviving a dead thread here, but as someone new to the scene I found this thread very interesting. I am a catholic, and still go to church, but over the years I guess you could say I've begun to question the churches views on a number of things. Not just because of my heavy background in science, I believe in evolution personally, but because their stances at times seem to hurt and divide more people than bring them together. Too be honest I've always felt that it is not what you believe that is important but how you treat others. If you treat others with kindness and respect, that's all that really matters in my books. -
Hello everyone :) My name is tokan. I recently discovered this website, as I am new to this hobby, and have to say that I have been really enjoying reading the forums and learning about this hobby from both sides. I was wondering though if anybody had any advice on what might be the best way for a new hobbyist to get started on this journey. One thing I have found out is that unfortunately my nick of the woods is not exactly a hotspot, but there are a few tourers that occasionally visit. Anyway, looking forward to hearing from everyone and I hope everyone is having a fun and safe evening!
