As a bit of a geek the first thing that comes to mind is princess Leia and the gold Bikini. I had to throw that out there :) Other things that might work might be a naughty nurse, or even say a dark ages maiden in distress, think Robin Hood Maid Marrion. Or you could even do some things that don't require a lot of accessories but I could imagine be a lot of fun like the hot teacher, or naught librarian. Another geeky one that might be fun is the Star Trek uniforms from the original series. Hope some of those ideas could work :)

Like a few other gentlemen have said if I were going to an event that say a large number of my family, friends, or acquaintances were in attendance I'd be less inclined to seek out this kind of date. However, if your talking about say going to a hockey game, concert, or even an evening out to a comedy club than sure. I could probably even see a weekend getaway. Probably not on a first meeting but after I got to know a particular lady than sure.

It definitely wasn't phantom menace bad, and I would have to say that it was better than AVP1, although to be honest I kinda really didn't like AVP and refuse to see the second one, lol. There are definite similarities between Prometheus and Alien but the reason I didn't consider it a direct prequel was the plot holes that Castle mentioned. I am also a stickler when it comes to continuity and attention to detail and I did notice a few goofs. I'm gonna let my super nerd come out here, lol, but the planet the Nostromo touched down on was LV-426 but if I remember correctly in prometheus they were on LV-221, so maybe it wasn't the same planet. And the ending was kind of a little to up in the air. I kind of like it when things dovetail into the next movie like the Thing prequel, which did a great job of explaining certain things from John Carpenters Thing. I loved though that Ridley Scott actually built most of his sets and didn't rely on CG to much though, cause the CGI he did use I really didn't care for. Say what you will about guys in rubber suits, they look way more believable on screen than CGI. And the sets and scenic shots were gorgeous. I did enjoy it too it just wasn't exactly what I expected, though to be honest I'm not sure what I was expecting, lol.

Sending a big hug to Sophia. Hope your pup pulls through okay! I know what you mean about vet bills, my sisters other cat has recently had some medical issues and the bills definitely weren't cheap. I know the vet charges in the U.S. are about half of what they are here in Canada but I don't know what's involved in taking your pets down south to see a vet. I couldn't be a vet either, seeing animals suffer just does not sit well with me and I know I would have a really hard time putting animals down. I can't even watch the humane societies commercials half the time.

Hi all. Just wondering who is going to see, or has already seen Prometheus this weekend. I just got back from seeing it and was curious as to what everybody's thoughts are on it. I'm still kind of processing it so still not sure what I think of it, lol. Just an FYI, no spoilers, but just wanted to say that if you haven't seen it yet don't go in expecting a direct Alien prequel. It is definitely not. But it does take place in the same universe and does make some nods to the Alien movies.

The old spice commercials with Terry Crews always crack me up with just how over the top they are. Here is a couple I could dig up. And here is a scene from white chicks with terry crews that just cracks me up. Enjoy :)

I was wondering how that worked myself, thanks Peachy for asking and thanks WIT for the answer :)

Just found out that I'm going to be an Uncle :) Now my family does have a bit of a rougher history when it comes to pregnancies so any thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated. But between that and starting a new job that I'm kind of excited about life is just peachy today :)

Pets? How do we feel about them?
tokan replied to Victoria Banks's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I love pets, couldn't imagine not having one. I always had dogs when I was growing up. Found out later that I was allergic to dogs which explained my sniffles, not super bad but enough. There was no way we were giving up our dog though, we always considered our pets as members of the family. Right now I've basically adopted my sisters cat and she is a lot of fun. Kinda crazy though, and sometimes I swear she has ADD, lol. She loves attention though, to the point you'd swear she is part dog. And she's quiet vocal too, especially about food and petting her. I love most furry creatures, but you'd never get me to have a pet spider. If a big spider like a tarantula or something else got loose in my place I probably end up burning the place down trying to kill it or end up moving, and with my luck it would be hiding in one of the boxes, lol. -
To me the matter of BBFS comes down to health related concerns. There are just to many really scary bugs out there not to mention the big one HIV/AIDS. But it's not just my health I worry about, I am also concerned about the ladies health just because when it comes to some of the STI's or HIV/AIDS it goes beyond interfering with their livelihood, there is a real chance that there could be severe repercussions for their health in some cases and I would hate to see that happen. Even if regular testing is done by both parties those tests are not infallible, so to me it's just not worth the risk to go BBFS. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing someone who offered BBBJ though, as although there are still risks they are much lower than FS. At the same time though if they only offered CBJ that wouldn't turn me away either, it all depends on what the lady is comfortable with. And if I'm interested in a particular lady it usually comes down to more than just what's on the menu. Next to health though I am concerned about respect for the lady. To me a Lady is a Lady is a Lady, regardless of what profession they are in and deserves to be treated as such and with respect. If they are not comfortable offering a service I would not want to pressure them into anything, I'd rather stay within each others comfort zone and let nature take it's course. I want to add though that I would never look down on someone who offers or seeks more or less service than anyone else. It's their choice and I have to respect that, but I have to say that for me personally their are some risks I'm not willing to take. I also want to add that I wouldn't be entirely opposed to government regulation. Not so much for the health aspect, but if it cut down on human trafficking or exploitation I'm all for it. Also if the government did offer services or courses to the industry I could see it being helpful.

68th Anniversary of D-Day
tokan replied to Lowdark's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
My grandfather tried to enlist in the Canadian Forces in WW2 but he couldn't pass the medical which I guess is a good thing for me otherwise I might not be around. But to me WW2 was one of the few wars that needed to be fought. If the allies had not stepped in there is good chance most of the Jews in Europe would have been wiped out by the Nazis and for that fact alone I'm glad we went. I've always held those who are willing to put their life on the line for the greater good in the highest respect, especially the police, fire-fighters, and soldiers. And so I say let us remember those who fell on the beaches of Normandy this day so that we can enjoy the freedom they fought for. On another note although none of my grandparents thought in WW2 I do have relatives that served in the Canadian Expeditionary Force in WW1 during some pretty bloody battles. I still have his medals, insignia from his cap, and even a couple of pictures of him in uniform which is pretty cool. I haven't researched exactly what battles he fought in but from his records it looks like he fought in the last 100 days which were some of the bloodiest days of that war. He didn't talk much about his experience but he is someone I would have loved to talk to and hear his stories about his experience. -
Books/Author recommendations
tokan replied to Surf_Nazis_Must_Die's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I've read a bunch of novels from Michael Crichton, Steven King, and Dan Brown recently. I really enjoyed Andromeda Strain, Next, and State of Fear from Crichton. And loved Angels and Demons from Brown, more so than Davinci code. Currently tackling The Stand from King, this will probably take me a while though, lol. For some lighter reading I was reading the Walking Dead comics, what the TV series is based off. The TV series though is kinda doing it's own thing though and not following the comics to closely but some of the major things are still there. -
(mis)understanding introverts
tokan replied to Nathalie L's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
As an introvert I absolutely loved this article as to be honest I could totally relate to it and the situations it presented. I've always been more for smaller more intimate gatherings as I've never been one for small talk really but absolutely love getting into a deep conversation about a topic I'm passionate about. I do enjoy talking about my thoughts and feelings. And in those smaller gatherings it's just easier to to get into a deep meaningful conversation. And I can totally relate to needing time to myself to recharge after going to a large gathering. To be honest I value my time to myself as much as I value time with my family and friends. It's not that I don't enjoy spending time with them I just enjoy having that time to myself to reflect or just recharge my batteries. Alone time also gives me a chance to let the idiot out in me and do stuff like rock out to my music full blast or watch some really bad movies that I may not get to watch otherwise, lol. -
