  1. Never heard of this. Could you elaborate? It sounds interesting
  2. This topic is a bit foreign to me because of cultural differences. My ethnic background, if you're 'rounder', you're probably not poor since you can afford to eat the finer things like meat. Just an attitude that's stayed on even after the British left India. As well, due to the pandemic of heart and other weight related issues, at least with my close family and friends (from the same ethnicity), calling someone out isn't seen as offensive. Let me clarify: This will get you called out - This is considered absolutely fine - Now that's not to say that one culture is better than another when it comes to attitudes of appearances. Not at all, because we have our own senseless judgement criteria. For people in my background, even ones who've lived here for all their lives (including someone I considered a very close friend), skin colour defines beauty. And so there's this - To unlock the 'true beauty' of your skin Basically, since the topic of body image shaming came up in Peachy's first post, I thought I'd bring this up for one point. I've grown up in the east and west. Where things like weight and skin colour are among the oh so many criteria that people seem to judge others. I was judged on something completely different, and it bothered me for a while. Still makes me self conscious, but I'd like to think I care about it less now.
  3. I'm really sorry for your loss :( I echo Samantha's suggestion about finding a support group first.
  4. I'm unfortunately going to derail this thread a bit more, but I'm a bit confused with some of what's been said. So for clarification purposes... This whole 'menu' discussion is a bit puzzling. Suppose a client likes certain acts, something that varies from one provider to another. Prior to booking with someone, by asking if that provider is okay with that particular act, I don't think constitutes treating someone like a pizza. Even if it's just finding out what's someone's limits are, I think I'd like to know that prior to seeing her then after I've paid her. I don't think I've ever met an SP with a plan of what I'd be doing, but I'd like to be completely cognisant of what I can expect, and what to stay far far away. And I would think that everyone would take great offence when treated anything less then a human. I think this falls in line more to what I think.
  5. gmail seems to get spam pretty accurately of my main inbox without filtering proper emails
  6. Not familiar with this, but sounds interesting. I think I'd like to try this
  7. I had a friend who fantasies about dp. Almost all her porn is dp related. DP bdsm, threesome lesbian with dp, dp ffm, dp with toys (you get the idea). In theory, I see nothing wrong with it. Practically, I doubt I'd ever see myself in a mmf sorta thing. Maybe if I check of a lot of my sex todo list, I might consider it.
  8. As soon as I read this title of the thread, I was looking forward to reading everyone's responses. And it has been a thoroughly entertaining read. Anyhow, a couple of quick points to start of with: I found it interesting that in a thread about religion, reaching 3 pages long, the word "faith" was used only once, and only to describe a particular religion. It seems that those not agnostic, or atheist who have replied to this thread are some form of Christians. Here to shake things up, I'm Muslim (not a particularly religious one, but a believer of god nonetheless) I think religion has gained this sort of reputation from a few using it to their benefit. Just like using national pride or race relations, religion has fallen victim to those using an identity to instill fear against a foreign threat (Whites vs Blacks, Aryan vs Jews/Jesuits/Lesbians&Gays/Jehovah's Witnesses, wide nose vs narrow nose, etc). Anyway, personally, I'm not that religious. I have faith that there is a god out there, and the practice the Muslim faith from time to time (pray, fast, etc), but I'm not very diligent on all of it. Maybe I'm wrong in this notion, but I think God's more concerned about me being polite, kind, honest more then practicing the rituals. But on this topic, all I can really say with absolute certainty is that during the darkest periods of my life, after traumatic events, I prayed, and I felt at peace. I am completely aware that this could very well be the result of strong belief, causing some sort of mental self protection mechanism working in the background of my brain that did the trick, instead of divine intervention. Nevertheless, it helped, and I don't see myself losing faith in the existence of god.
  9. Every single time I read the title of the thread, I read it as "Your inner Greek". My mind is pervy, and I like it that way. Doctor Who! I f'ing love that show
  10. Thanks for sharing Cat. It was informative to read your experience If you don't mind me asking: Why did you decide against asking for help? Would you have asked for government assistance if you knew it would take 8 months to get off the street? --- It's interesting to read your story and contrast it to my dad. He was a refugee of war. Homeless and with a bag of a few things, he sold everything except the clothes he wore. He was responsible for two of his sisters and baby brother, and worked bizarrely odd jobs to get them into this "house". This was a third world country, so social services were non-existent, but he did sometimes eat in mosques and churches when there was food. He got his break when he became a tea-boy (chai-wala) for a cement factory, where the plant manager admired his work ethics. After three years working there, and doing every job he could find to possibly rise up the ranks, the manager recommended he apply for a job in another country; another very entry level position, but she thought it would be the best thing for his life. He rose through the ranks of this conglomerate (can't say what it is for privacy) and almost reached the very top before he retired well before 65. I was born when things started to turn around for my parents, so I never knew that life. But while I usually take a softer approach to welfare and social assistance, my dad is much more 'conservative' (if that is the right word). His reason is the experience that defined his career (if he could do it, why can no one else). He considers himself of average intelligence, with no particular talent that sets him apart. But he throws everything he has on whatever task he sets his mind to. To him, absolute sacrifice, humility, and hard work is required before help is given in situations of poverty. Anything less shows a lack of dedication to see it through. I'm not advocating that his position on the matter is correct, or challenging the basis of anyone's values. It's just been enlightening to see people come from poverty to have wildly different views on the subject.
  11. Yup. And one of my favourite benefits of it is that it can be much more effective for sleepless nights then any sleeping pill. But useless when you're on a plane or train.
  12. So...anyone who has received assistance care to share? V Not someone who gamed the system, but used the assistance to pull themselves out of difficult times and no longer on it
  13. No worries, I just laughed when I found out
  14. It's not specifically a cabaret style list, but it is a compilation of what a bunch of people have said is the sexiest song.
  15. Haven't forgotten this, just got delayed starting this. Should be done shortly! So far, I'm loving the book
  16. Things that end with .01, .02, .06, .07 get rounded down to .00, .00, .05, .05 respectively. While prices that end with .03, .04, .08, .09 get rounded up to .05, .05, .10, .10 respectively. It was long overdue in the sense of money's true purpose. Money is used instead of bartering, and making denominations that you can actually buy items helps facilitate the engines of the economy. Make something that's too small in value, and people stop using it because it's not worth their time. Hence finding pennies in pockets, sofas, crevices in the car, etc. The Gov of Canada has to pay the Royal Canadian Mint about $28 million to buy $17 million worth of pennies, so there was a loss there, despite reducing the copper content to nearly 5% from the original 100%. And finally, when the penny was the lowest value coin after the 1/2 cent was removed, it was worth more then 10 cents (whereas the 1/2 cent would be work about 6 cents today). But today we only get rid of the penny instead of the penny, dime and nickel. Interesting facts I learned in the absolutely free currency museum I didn't know existed till last year! Additional Comments: Actually, it just got cheaper over the many years. But have no fear, a quirk of the currency system of US and Canada, the coin currency has been used almost interchangeably. The Americans will provide us with cheap pennies for years to come.
  17. I don't think he was discussing car dates in the current cerb sense of the word as much as what he was saying what it meant back in his teen days.
  18. Oh dear lord when I read the subject, I thought a member had passed away. See ya penny. You were fun to play with and the cheapest thing I owned.
  19. Agreed. I'm still waiting for the police to find my stolen bike. Until they do that, I see no reason to waste time on someone who decided to do this on her (or his) own accord.
  20. An option that someone could use is creating an account on flickr.com When uploading a picture, you can set the permission to be private, so that no one except you (while logged into the account) can see the image. You can however link the image anywhere. It's not exactly an upload free manner, but it is as private.
  21. Let me rephrase, reading that over I can see how people would get the wrong idea of what I said. I meant that the OP could go to the client, say everything is okay. But in doing that, it would give the absolutely false impression that the client is reading too much into nothing. And doing so, he'd be doing a disservice to his client, perhaps leading her to an incorrect conclusion.
  22. Do your job. You can go back to the client and tell her you couldn't find anything that'll give her the impression that nothing is amiss. Your duty is to the client, and not the other guy. I think you'd have to go beyond the ethical question at this point. There are some people who do stuff privately that no one else knows about. And your job is to find out what that is. If you deem that alright for you, then I think it's unfair to draw the line just because you are "guilty" of doing the same thing.
  23. I'm a bit surprised when people say they don't "believe" in the flu shot. I get that scientists and doctors have gotten stuff wrong on occasion in the past, but every reason I've read so far to not take it has been anecdotal as opposed to anything scientific. This is one of those moments where I still feel like a foreigner. I grew up in the East thinking that citizens of first world countries didn't follow old wives tales and what not, seeking remedies through passed down stories. Truth be told, I've taken the shot a couple of times over the last 10 years, and the honest fact is that I've been completely lazy about it. I do realize I'm in my prime age, where the flu is less likely to affect me, but I know that I'm just lucky so far. But to those who don't "believe" in the flu shot, I'm genuinely curious, do you think the government is willfully blind that pharma companies are using this once a year moment to peddle additional drugs? Or that the pharmaceutical companies have tricked all government health organizations around the world? Or some other reason why they are still provided. And since someone brought up that a few decades ago we had less immunization shots and what not. But consider this, in Canada, from 1920 to 1960, the average life expectancy rose from 59 to 66. Considering that Canada moved to become a properly middle class nation, it would make sense. Since them however, the life expectancy has gone up to 79. I know that there are many variables in this rise, but I would credit some of this to immunization. (Speaking as someone who has absolutely no knowledge of molecular level biology, or anything of that sort mind you)
