Isn't there an important distinction to be made between different forms of non-insane automatism though? A blow to the head and hypoglycemia (accidents or medical concerns) vary tremendously from, as you noted, *voluntary* excessive alcohol consumption. It seems to me that also responsibility lies in the choice to drink or not drink. You decided to drink, and therefore tacitly accepted responsibility for your own behaviour that resulted from that choice. Just a thought, and I wonder if that's reflected in any cases.

Howdy St. John's! I'm heading your way two weeks from now and I'm finalizing my stay. It's my very first tour of the city so I hope you can lend me a hand to make my trip a memorable one. 1) What are the best downtown hotels? Somewhere upscale, busy, and close to some lovely restaurants, please. 2) I've heard the Fjords are simply stunning...Are they fairly accessible by car from the city? 3) What weird and wonderful sites and sounds can you recommend?
