So we all probably have our favourite season (summer for me!) but I imagine most of us wouldn't want that season to be the only one we enjoy even if we could choose. But suppose you could decide how long each season was... I'm curious what the breakdown would be like for people. If you could decide exactly how much of the year was spent on each of the four seasons (let's assume "construction" doesn't count as a season!) how would you divvy it up? For myself, I'll happily enjoy 6 months of summer. I like the crispness and colours of fall too so it can have 3 months. Spring can have 2. And though I'm not a fan of cold and ice, it wouldn't be the holidays without it and I'm Canadian enough that I'm sure I'd miss it, so it can keep December.

2+ hour long debate between Bill Nye (the Science Guy!) and Ken Ham (founder of the Creation Museum). I've only watched part of it myself, but am quite enjoying it. Well..especially Bill Nye's parts, but still, it's a good watch.

Community Recognition Posts!
Brad replied to Midnite-Energies's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Well, though I know this would never have been her intention, I think it may only be appropriate that the first post in this thread go out to Midnite Massage herself! Not only does she always have kind, patient advice and empathy for everyone around her, but she is often the first person to recognize the contributions of everyone else. Certainly when it comes to building community spirit she helps set the bar. I think I can safely say on behalf of everyone, thanks for all you do! (Plus, her blog is super sexy.) -
I think you mean that's the sexiest denim belt that you've ever seen!

This thread reminds of this song; anyone else remember when it was on all the time?

New prostitution bill expected 'well before' deadline, Peter MacKay says

Your general points may still be true, but I don't think you can't quite compare Canada law and USA law in that way. In Canada, criminal law is pretty much exclusively in the jurisdiction of the federal government, not the provinces. In the USA, however, there is both Federal law and State level law. And though you'll hear of a "federal crime", the reality is that most crimes are actually prosecuted at the state law level. -

Recognition Threads
Brad replied to Midnite-Energies's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I've never understood the "thread clutter" argument. I mean, I don't personally get anything out of abc game-type threads, but it takes me half a second to skip over them to the ones I'm more interested in, so what's the harm, especially if there's others who get a good time out of them? I'd think the same would apply to recognition threads. If for some people it builds a sense of a community and makes someone feel better for even a short time, then isn't it worth it? My own vote is to continue as things are, but I suppose if a compromise was needed someone could always make a single recognition thread for all of them. All milestones for all members could be recognized in the one thread, easily followed by those that wish to and likewise easily ignored by any put off by them. As I say, I truly don't see the harm in them as they are, but that's the only alternative approach I can imagine. -

Huh... (skip ahead to about 1:30 mark if it doesn't start there automatically) -
What a great site!

I'm not sure if that was an intentional pun, simple typo, Freudian slip, or just something those of you on the Pacific call yourselves because of all the rain, but either way it's a great line. :) And yes, welcome to Cerb and enjoy. It's a terrific site. -
Child star to successful adult

Found this amusing and fits here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0Tqde7OeZ8 A bunch of child stars you may recognize all grown-up, united by one thing in common apparently: their disdain of Kirk Cameron! -

There are simply so many traits that can make a lady attractive (and I don't just mean physical traits!) I do have a preference for age (at least 25 or older), just as I do body type, hair colour, attitude, interests, etc etc. But in my mind you simply can never reduce a person just to one factor. A lady can so easily pique my interest in so many ways that any one thing, like age, simply isn't a determining factor by itself. It might be a nice smile, humour, seductive ads, seductive boobs! (I am who I am), insightful posts, genuine friendliness, or any of a dozen other things that entice, any one of which more important than age!

I think it's a good thing if the police want to reach out to offer support, and obviously we all would want anyone who is being abused or exploited to have support. But can anyone justify why achieving the above would take a surprise visit from several uniformed officers or a deception about who is going to show up at your door? How does that increase trust? I mean, if a police officer called or p.m.'d, identified themselves, and then simply gave a friendly message that if ever the person needed help (for any reason, not just in case they are underage or being coerced) and left it at that, wouldn't this achieve the same goal, but without causing intimidation or wasted time? I'm all for the police taking on a supportive role with the community, and being a force that those in the industry feel they can comfortably reach out to. But doing it this way seems like it just further alienates and stigmatizes those they are supposedly reaching out to help.

I don't know, it's hard to judge what makes each person feel comfortable making a connection. We can't really assume what works or doesn't work for us will be the same for others. I mean, you could say how does a someone's ads, or website, or posts give you a sense of how well you'll get along or if you're likely to have chemistry. Of course there are no guarantees, but I'm sure many of us find that just reading someone's thoughts and comments on these forums give us a strong sense of potential connection. And it often doesn't take too many post either! For others, maybe it is first impressions in person that is important. You may be right that real chemistry takes time to develop, but I can think of a couple ladies who, after only a few minutes of in-person conversation, had me relaxed and convinced we were going to get along well and have a good time -- or to put it anther way that the chance of chemistry was likely to be high. And in such cases I can't say those strong impressions turned out to be wrong. I truly don't know how practical the OP's question is and it's probably not the way I'd go personally, but I can see why he'd figure there's no harm in asking.
