Child star to successful adult
Brad replied to Brad's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Mayim Bialik...or as most of you would remember her, Blossom: Of course she's now on The Big Bang Theory, and in between she managed to pick up a PHD in neuroscience! -

It seems over the last year or so that every other media story out there is a tale of some young person or childhood stars who, older now, has gotten themselves in trouble or caused some sort of scandal or controversy. It's nothing new, I know, but between Lindsey Lohan's drug relapses, the national debate on Miley Cyrus twerking, and now Justin Bieber's arrest, it seems a common story these days and is enough to make one think no young person can be prepared for widespread success. So, cheer me up people! Restore my faith! Surely there are a lot of childhood stars out there who made it successfully to a stable adulthood. Tell me your favourite! Share an example! To start, I'll throw out Neil Patrick Harris. One of the shows I grew up on was Doogie Howser M.D: And Neil Patrick Harris is still entertaining today, and seemingly even more awesome and stable in real life than his current t.v. persona:

Whether it's a personal failing on his part, society, his parents, or his handlers, it's a sad situation and a waste. I'm somewhat with those who are tired of how much attention the story gets. It seems a little messed up that you've one news organization interrupting a congresswoman mid-sentence to report "the breaking news" and then you've got CNN which has devoted more hours and space to this than any natural disaster, political turmoil, or humanitarian crisis going on. But then again, I suppose I'm in no place to talk. After all, I avidly read through this thread interested in people's opinions and have watched the very news reports I'm complaining about. We as a society really have a weird, weird relationship with our celebrities and I'm not immune! Anyway, I'm not crazy about Bieber as a person, but nevertheless, here's hoping he either finds the help or maturity he needs to get into a better situation.

Do you offer MSOG?
Brad replied to Studio 110 by Sophia's topic in Escort Discussion for New Brunswick
A gentleman who isn't able to get off more than once and blames the lady because she offers MSOG, would be the same thing as a guy with no tongue criticizing the lady who says she allows DATY... -

Objectify, or an intelligent ad?
Brad replied to piano8950's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I'm with MightyPen on this one (but then, I don't know I've ever disagreed with him). Using sex to in advertising is certainly not new, but this one goes a little far in my mind. It gets especially problematic when you've got the idea of "ownership" or "used" mixed into it. -

I also think a program to have strays fixed and released could be a solution. Sadly there's too many to realistically adopt or shelter, but fixing and releasing them would be a better alternatively than leaving them unchecked or putting them down. I'd also be in favour of the government paying or at least subsidizing the cost of owned pets to be fixed, to encourage pet owners to do so. I'd be willing to chip in my share of taxes for such a program.

I know there's at least one lady who has a restriction on digits in part for hygiene issues. Some people's bits can be overly sensitive to germs or more prone to infection than average, and even though one would certainly hope/expect that folks have thoroughly washed their hands, a person could understandably be concerned. I imagine for others there's a point where they don't like having to risk telling someone they need to do a better job at trimming and/or cleaning their nails, so simply making it a restriction is easier.
