I am disgusted that the CBC repeatedly refers to the cartoons as Anti-Islam. The cartoons are satirical and usually have valid obvious points. Why does the CBC not discuss the specific cartoons instead of making ignorant assumptions? I think it is CBC promoting their victimisation dogma. The CBC played interviews with two "offended" Muslims. One of those offended acknowledged she had never seen any of the cartoons...but was extremely offended. The interviewer was sympathetic to the Muslims but never questioned them as to why Muslims should dictate what everyone else should be able to read. If you think something is offensive then don't look at it. Don't tell me what I can read or think.

How strong is your faith if a mere cartoon can threaten it? If your religion is worth killing someone then start with yourself. Ideas should be defeated by debate and discussion not by killing.

Although the business relationship may begin with sex it need not end there. My best friends are a couple of retired ladies. They are really good friends, not just acquaintances, people you can count on through good and bad. Being single changes everything. Nobody asking who was that lady you said hi to at the mall.

A few months ago a dentist in Winnipeg was convicted of numerous sexual assaults of unconscious boys. It happens. How can you deny it?

Absolutely! There is clear legal obligation and liability regarding harrassment. If these students had been employees at my workplace they would have been fired already. As an employer the potential for a sexual harrassment suit is too serious. These students have no idea how harshly they would be dealt with in the real world. Someone joking about drugging and raping a coworker...and putting it in writing on the Internet? That is someone I don't want to be responsible for!

Would you want a guy who made jokes like that working on your daughter? While she is unconscious?

A dentist is empowered to administer powerful anaesthetics to patients. An unconscious patient is at the mercy of that dentist. And the dentist is responsible for the safety of that patient. This is a much more srious responsibility than most face and we have every right to hold these professionals to a higher standard than a group of office workers in a lunchroom. Dentists have been convicted of sexually assaulting patients that were under anaesthetic. This is not some hypothetical possibility...it is a documented reality. Joking about it on facebook shows they are stupid. Joking about at all suggests they are unfit to be trusted around unconscious patients.

This may get deleted but I think it serves as a reminder to everyone. There's an angry spouse on the other board and she's out for revenge. Lounge thread "Whoa someone's mad". Use your head and be discreet when visiting someone. Some guys could be losing half of everything they own over this.

There is a big homeless shelter in Winnipeg that some of us on the other board go to at Christmas. We serve a Christmas dinner to the less fortunate, and donate money and supplies for the meal. It is much more personal and you feel like you are really helping someone when you actually deal with them face to face.

I always start my resolutions on Christmas Day, get a bit of a jump start. Lost three pounds already. Clean and sober for fifteen years now but it is still a one day at a time thing. FUKN hard at this time of year...especially with my boozer sister telling me "Come on, one drink won't hurt."

So many people now don't want to do anything if it involves effort. Two of my nephews have had three marriages! No commitment at all. The real tragedy is the young children that feel abandoned by their lazy self indulgent fathers. Both those nephews I have completely written off and ignore. They still ask for money though. Their brother has a steady marriage, almost twenty years, three terrific children, a wonderful wife and a very good job. Same parents, same upbringing, completely different ideas about responsibility. Makes you wonder eh? A couple of co workers were stuck working to 65 because of divorce. Two retired with nothing except a rusted out car and a bachelor suite, and half a pension. They don't accept any responsibility and blame everything on their wives. But I knew these guys for decades, I know they spent most of their time and money drinking at the bar and hitting on everything they could. After paying no attention to their wives and kids for twenty years they are shocked when the wife kicks them out. I went shopping with a girl the other day. We had a great time together. When I mentioned it to one guy he said I must be gay. This is a more common attitude than anyone wants to admit.

One of the two turned out to have a real pile of skeletons in her closet. Absolutely no way she could reach SCC level.

The Canadian version has a fraction of the content it had a few years ago. For instance they used to have all the Top Gear but now only a few recent seasons. They had a lot of BBC and only a bit now.

Don't try to be someone you are not. Don't try to be what they expect you to be. If someone does not love you for what you are your relationship is doomed. Be yourself and accept the other as they are.

Everyone needs to lighten up and take it less seriously! It should be fun and not an ordeal. If you want to bake go ahead, but don't do it because you feel pressured. Same with trees, lights, cards, parties. Make it a time to enjoy each other's company. Visit friends you don't see very often. Only children under about twelve should get presents, and only a very few close friends. Please don't make it about what I want/what I got for Christmas.
