  1. This was pretty well the perfect weather day for me here on PEI. Sun, warm and I was outside from 8:30 until just now, late in the afternoon. I really really wish we could have more than one nice day in a row.
  2. Thank you and your friend for sharing that response. I am very pleased to see that he did get an answer as I wrote to PM Trudeau, the Justice Minister and my own M.P,m and never did receive even an acknowledgement. I realize that the still relatively new government has a lot on their plate so I will continue to trust that eventually they will review the existing legislation while at the same time listen to Amnesty International, the United Nations and the sex workers in this country.
  3. I am also saddened with the passing of Muhammad Ali. For many of the youngsters here, he was an athlete from the boxing world when boxing was a real sport but he transcended the world of athletics for many of us of my generation. He certainly was the ultimate showman in and out of the ring, but he became a quiet spokesman for black people, for Muslims and for all, in the way that he lived his life. For all of us he was the peaceful ambassador and I am sorry to see him go. MN2
  4. I love my coffee - a primary food group for me. I always go to Tims as opposed to Starbucks because all I want is a coffee, no latte, no fancy flavors. Coffee. As well here on PEI there are almost no Starbucks so that makes it a lot easier to choose.
  5. My daughter is taking me to a Redblacks game and I am waiting anxiously for June 1st when single game tickets go on sale. I'm seriously looking forward to football season. :)
  6. Steve could very well be right and Donald Trump is poised to be voted in as next President of the United States. It's pretty scary and at the same time I understand why it could happen. If I were one of the millions unemployed as my job was sent to Mexico or Japan or China he'd have my vote, even though he has not said how he will get the jobs back. If I were a family member of a military person he would have my vote because he is right that the US has committed troops to regions with both hands tied behind their back. If you're going to do it, do it. In reality I see him bringing the US to an isolationist position. If that happened the world would indeed be sorry. Hillary is her own worst enemy and her lack of trust and her ties to Wall Street and the establishment could be the end of her. Since day one I have felt that the whole election phenomenon this year has been based on the fact that people are tired of being led and lied to by big business. Trump and Sanders both represent that feeling. I am still hoping that Hillary gets charged by the FBI and has to drop out opening the path for Bernie. In this election year anything is possible.
  7. Happy birthday Conquistador. Have a fun day. :)
  8. This could get repetitive, but, what a day again! Its been many many years since I was planting tomatoes and annuals in May. Time now for a beer.
  9. Happy Birthday Carrie. I hope that you have a great day. MN2
  10. I wonder if everyone has their own little slice of heaven? For me here in rural PEI I know that I do. It's pretty crazy now that my kids have all left home for other provinces and my wife has passed away that I keep this property. I have the pretty stereotypical PEI home - a huge old farmhouse that I constantly renovate, 15 acres that a neighbor uses to plant in grain or soybeans, a lovely garden plot, a huge perennial bed, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, and big old shade trees that are pretty handy in summer weather. Hummingbirds have adopted my place as well and I have the biggest bonfires without worrying about regulations. The list can go on and on. I'm not going anywhere. If you want to stop in for a visit, just ask. :) What's your piece of heaven?
  11. Celebrating a summer day in May on PEI. It's now showing 26 degrees. I love it. To celebrate I am cracking open a Kilkenny and will sit and survey my domain. :) Have a great long weekend everyone.
  12. Well as I have said before, "It might be funny, but it ain't no joke." Trump now has the nomination and if I were a Democrat I would be advising to take him seriously. The prevailing anti-establishment attitude is a power that is growing and it's happening between Clinton and Sanders now. I think Canada may have to get ready for a wave of US immigration after we look at his list of nominees for the Supreme Court vacancy. I can hardly believe that in this day and time there are powerful judges who are ready to make abortion illegal and classify the LGBT community is the same light as pedophiles. That's what a Trump will bring. There is still a long time until election day so it will be interesting to see if Trump's supporters will stay with him as he moves more in line with establishment policies and backs off on some of his proposed policies. For me, Hillary is the lesser of two evils.
  13. You made me smile because even many of us that have been here for a while have no idea what we are doing either. :) Welcome.
  14. It took a while but this was an absolutely fabulous weather day. Pretty sure that I will have a ring around the tub tonight. AND, lobster rolls for supper. :)
  15. After a full day outside in the garden and flower beds I am chilled right to the bone. Sipping a beer and ready to watch the Jays game and cook up a pork chop for dinner.
  16. I laughed when I read that Meaghan because you sounded like my sister who lives not too far from you on Vancouver Island. She delights in sending pictures of flowers blooming when we are still covered with snow on the East coast. :) So good for you to have the little guys year round and you also have several different species. We only get the ruby throated hummingbird here. Enjoy your little birds and of course the amazing climate of Victoria.
  17. Here in PEI it's almost time and I can almost set my calendar with their arrival. May 15th is the date although last year they arrived two days early. Today I put out my ten feeders so I am ready to welcome the little guys.
  18. Salad, baked potato with onions, carrots and a BBQ steak. Anyone like to pop over and join me?
  19. As an Atlantic Canadian who knows many people who now live in or commute back and forth to Fort McMurray for work I've been watching the disaster coverage in disbelief. It's one more example of how things can turn on a dime in a most unexpected way for any of us. As my little way of helping I have just made a donation to the Canadian Red Cross. I understand as well that all donations will be matched by both the Alberta government and the Canadian government. For those that are able to assist, the link to the site is here.
  20. Certainly no one knows what is in the minds of government as we see from the posts above but it appears as if we still are hoping for the best. The, "Sunny Days," comment from Mr. Trudeau still causes me to hope that he will act on fairness, science, valid studies, and in the interest of as his father said, "A just society." I'm not sure Loopie that Canadians were behind the passing of the legislation as much as they were apathetic as based on their lack of knowledge and their misconceptions. I know myself that six years ago I would have been one of the ignorant masses who could have cared less. So crossing fingers and hoping for the best.
  21. Happy birthday Mikeyboy. Have a great day!
  22. It was a beautiful day on PEI and although Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest I broke the rule and was outside all day in the flower beds. THAT was my way of enjoying and relaxing, sore out of shape muscles and all. AND... tomorrow is opening day of lobster season. I may take the afternoon off tomorrow. Have a feed already planned. :)
  23. I completely agree about Cruz. I religious and constitutional zealot would be very very scary. As for Trump, I do assume that he must be intelligent????? If so, he will know what he does not know and hopefully get good advisers. I still cannot see him being elected in a general election.
  24. Being from PEI I am a tad embarrassed by the entire Mike Duffy affair. After following the trial quite closely it was quite apparent that he would be found not guilty, under the law. It is pretty difficult to break the rules when there are no rules. That being said he is guilty ethically. At confederation there were 60 senators. 20 from Ontario, 20 from Quebec and 20 from the Maritimes. The intent was to give an equity to the regions of Canada regardless of population. In today's Canada it serves no purpose other than being a political trough. It would take a constitutional change which is not easy to do, but it should either be eliminated or senators should be elected and responsible to Canadians.
  25. Yes, more than I can ever express, however she's an ex only because the universe called her for a reason that I have yet to fathom. I realize how lucky I was, we were, and I look back with great memories. One cannot stop time or what is meant to be.
