I have thought about asking you if you had done the Rosetta Stone thing. I recall a year ago or maybe two that you were inquiring about it on here at some point. I have thought about doing the same thing to try to bring my French back. Keep at it Ms. Cleo. It would be awesome and I for one am so very impressed with those people who can go back and forth from one language to the other. That can be you. :)

anyone know the cure for teenagers?
mrrnice2 replied to dirkgently's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Hey Dirk. Totally, totally common. Practice patience and show love as a parent and the switch will get turned again in a year or two. There would not be too many teenagers that have not gone through that phase and not too many parents have been fortunate enough to miss it. That politeness and well mannered behavior if it was there before is still there and it will come back. :) -
Many, many, many highlights. I had all three of my girls home together for a week. It was the best week that I have had in many years! It was sunny and all the way to 9 degrees here today and I had my very first day where I was outside from very early until supper time. So much to do out there...... And, I do believe that I may have just arranged my first date/encounter since my return to Cerb.

It's coming together! We were all the way up to 9 degrees today. The raking is coming right along. All of the large broken tree branches and limbs from our last blizzard have been mostly cut up and are ready to become part of my summer bonfires. My traps are working and one skunk and one raccoon so far have been captured and sent way way way back into the woods. The bees that swarmed out of one of the dead tree branches have dispersed, The basement pumping is now officially done after more than two weeks of flooding. A friend reminded me of the biblical references and hopes that I have not been too bad! So the pestilence has come and gone, as have the floods. There is one more reference from the bible that I recall but let us not even think about THAT one. Whoo Hooo. Feeling a LOT better by starting to get outdoors again.

Certainly a non-traditional Easter dinner. Pork chop with my famous mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes and carrots. I am alone so I chose what I like. :) It will be a late dinner so I will watch it with my Montreal Canadiens.

Hockey tends to get a Bad name but....
mrrnice2 replied to Ice4fun's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
This thread seems to have two aspects to it. First of all, many hockey players do in fact do more than show their skills, or in some cases their bad sides, on the ice. The whole issue of overpaid spoiled athletes can always be argued. However I know that here in the Maritimes at least a few of our NHL players do give back. Brad Richards from PEI during the players lock out was found in New Jersey helping gut the houses and doing pure physical labor after Hurricane Sandy. He contributes a great deal back into PEI. Sidney Crosby from NS comes across as a genuinely nice guy and he also puts a lot back into his community. I am pretty confident that all across the country your local NHL players do the very same things. Now. The playoffs. I am a Canadiens fan! HUGE fan. However on those few and rare occasions when the Leafs are still playing after my Canadiens then I become a Leafs fan. So, I am hoping that you Leaf fans, and I can hardly imagine how that can happen, will pick up the Canadian flag and cheer for the good guys. :) -
Well here in PEI I believe that we got the weather that you have been enjoying in Ottawa for the last few days. It was almost 20 degrees and I was outside! I did more lawn raking around the melting snow drifts and actually cleaned out my first few flower beds. Bring it on!

Whoo Hooo. It's sunny, and all the way up to two degrees. I have been outside since early on raking my lawn around the snow drifts. :) Tonight's few cm of snow will land on it and when it melts the grass will be green. There's truth in the saying about, "Poor mans fertilizer." Company coming for a turkey dinner later on.

Torrential rain yesterday, huge amounts of snow melting and +6 degree temperatures equals having to continuously pump water out of my basement. It's been a long night.

Good old Peter Mackay I am ashamed to say is a Maritimer. One good thing we have going for us is that we know he doesn't keep his promises. Remember this one when he was the last leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. " I will never form an alliance with the Reform Party." So don't be too surprised if he fails to deliver on his promise of new legislation.

This is a pretty simple highlight but a highlight nonetheless. Today was 9 degrees. Today was sunny and full blue skies. Today I spent a full day not really truly outside but in my greenhouse and workshop where I cleaned up the winter disaster that my little workshop had become. I have waited a long time for this day to come!

Leading a Double Life
mrrnice2 replied to someguy's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I am not really comfortable with stating that I live a double life with regards to Cerb. My involvement is certainly not something that I publicize, but that is due to the stigma and stereotypes that are prevalent in general society, and perhaps that may be true even more so in insular PEI - I wonder if that is true? The fact that I don't advertise my participation probably could or should be interpreted as hiding or leading a double life, but I am very content that should I be "discovered," then I have no issue with that at all, in any way. I am widowed, I am totally alone, and I have no rational reason to feel guilty about what is now my very minimal involvement. I hated, absolutely and irrevocably hated, that in the beginning I lied to my children about where I was at various times when I was travelling. It's a long and roundabout and interesting story about why they now know, but they know that I have seen sex workers. They were all perfectly okay with that. It has led to some pretty good discussions about stereotypes and it's most curious that they were worried about me being taken advantage of, whereas from my perspective I always worried about me taking advantage of a woman in an unfortunate situation. My kids are pretty awesome. :) Everyone has things that to them are private and of no concern to anyone else and if involvement with sex workers is included in that then so be it. It does not mean that there is a right or a wrong involved. Your little voice will tell you that. -
I always enjoy seeing Angela here as she just seems so helpful to everyone. :)

Happy Birthday RG

Hope that you have a great birthday RG. -
Having it be a sunny day, even at only +2 degrees, the huge snow drifts slowly melting outside as I work with my little seedlings in my +32 degree greenhouse. It feels SO good.

Mr Boring and Traditional with pizza as with most everything else. LOL Give me thick crust, with everything on it. :) A Maritime chain only I believe, but you can't beat Pizza Delight. I have also discovered that Sobey's in store premade for take home to cook are pretty darn good too.

what are you doing at this very minute?
mrrnice2 replied to Exotic Touch Danielle's topic in Fun Threads
Well seeing as the power is slowly disappearing all across the Island, and with freezing rain here since last night and then 15 - 30 cm of snow with winds coming tonight , I have filled my pots of water and my tub! Geeze! -
what are you doing at this very minute?
mrrnice2 replied to Exotic Touch Danielle's topic in Fun Threads
Coffee! Started the wood furnace, making my list, checking the news headlines, texting with family, and wishing we were not looking ahead to another 24 hours of freezing rain and then snow. -
Mr. Excaliber. Please note that I have made that adjustment in the business plan. Thank you for your input. MN2
