  1. I realize that what is useful to one person may be of no use to another however there are some pretty good Apps out there. I know for example that I can turn my iPhone into a level, but for me that's not a priority. I am now over a year into my conversion to the iPhone and I'd love to hear about and share some of the tools that are available. Two contributions from me to start. The iPhone does not have a timer built into it for taking pictures and this app called TimerCam is simple and works perfectly. As long as one is accessing Wifi, there are a number of music Apps available. A favorite is Songza which has a multitude of premixed playlists that one may sort through by theme or mood.
  2. Road Trip! I have not been off of the Island since early December and I am ready to go walkabout! The weather appears as if it is going to cooperate in terms of snow, so I head out in the morning and eventually will end up at my daughters in Kingston for a bit. No side trip through Ottawa this time I expect, even though that social looks like it will be its usual good time. On the way home I'll take a significant detour through to Halifax and by then I hope to come home to warmer weather and little plants peeking through the ground. Now, I wonder how many Roll Up the Rim and Win cups I will collect along the way! Regardless, I'll be a winner with this trip. :)
  3. Added my name as well. A reminder that there is a March 17th deadline for adding your opinions to the Government of Canada Public Consultation on Prostitution-Related Offences in Canada Survey. It may be found here.
  4. After being in my wheelchair and using my crutches for one day short of a month, I did two 10 minutes walks today. Whoo Hooo! Slow but sure, like the tortoise. :)
  5. Well Jafo, "It's a dull day that you don't learn something new!" I think we can thank that RG fella for bringing this thread back. It's nice to know that we have someone like that here to count on. This game is going in a little different direction from what was anticipated but it's all good. :)
  6. In keeping to the theme of this thread let me bring it to a merciful conclusion and "Put it out of it's misery," based on lack of interest! It's obviously, "Gone over like a lead balloon," and another example of the fact that, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." However, "Nothing ventured nothing gained," and, "If at first you don't succeed, then try try again." "To each his own I suppose." We'll play this game, "When Hell freezes over." :) :) :)
  7. At the theater with lots of popcorn and REAL butter layered throughout. :) Skiing on a perfect day or sailing on a perfect day?
  8. Some people have a saying for every situation. In this game, the idea is to present a situation and then see who can come up with an appropriate saying or cliche. When you do so, then present a new situation for the next player. As simple as it gets could be this. Someone says, "I can hardly wait until I meet that woman from Cerb on Monday night." A response might be. "Patience is a virtue." Next Up: " I am tired of the winter and want it to end."
  9. Why in this day of computers, when the tax year ends on December 31st, can't all tax slips be issued by the middle of January? Other than RRSP contributions which can be made up until the last day of February, everything else should have been issued a month and a half ago. The cynical part of me says that the government is earning interest for two months on all of the little refunds that are owed to many of us.
  10. I have heard of this before and have seen pictures of floors and back splashes done in it as well, but how about pennies? You can google pennies as a backsplash and see some how to's and lots of pictures.
  11. Feeling caught up makes me smile, so I am smiling now. Perhaps nothing makes me smile more than seeing and hearing the laughter of a little baby.
  12. All I gotta say is holy shit, how easy! And more so, THANK YOU Empty83. Who knew you could just unscrew that little cap! I had tried Drano and yes RG the baking soda and vinegar trick and it still was a slow draining sink. One little cap came off, two minutes to reach in and pull out the crap, and a free flowing drain. Love it! Additional Comments:
  13. So many places one could start but I thought for a first one it might be related in part to the word political. When one looks at the political leadership in this country is there anyone that you trust? I mean trust in the sense that when they say something you have a sense that you believe them or that they themselves believe what they are saying It is rather a sad statement of affairs that even after the past year of news events I would put a Rob Ford above a Harper or Mulcair. At least what you see is what you get with Rob Ford. Every word that comes out of the mouth of the others is scripted, rehearsed and the content is based on what they believe people "want" them to say. Where has REAL gone in politics? They are all terrified of saying what they think. Even Mr.Trudeau's disastrous "joke" this week was based on his allowing something to come out of his mouth that was not scripted. Will his handlers now issue him with his talking points and notes of what he is allowed to say. Watching interviews and daily question period in the House of Commons is like watching trained seals. I always wonder how these people, who surely must have some degree of intelligence and some sense of right and wrong can allow themselves to be dictated to and told specifically what words should come out of their mouths, knowing full well that they are lying or obfuscating or misleading. Surely to God they must question themselves and ask how they ever allowed themselves to sink to that level, to lose their own sense of right and wrong. So a Rob Ford, despite his issues is a breath of fresh air for many people. I would love to see some reality from others. Apparently Mr Ford still has a shot at winning the next election. Is that because there are many many people like me who are tired of seeing fakes and stand up puppets and this is their way of saying enough is enough? Media says it is politically correct to crucify a Rob Ford. Despite that, is his popularity an indication that Canadians are at the point they would prefer a real person even with serious flaws over a fake person who lies about what they believe.
  14. Definitely meat! An East coast vacation in the summer or a West coast vacation in the winter for skiing?
  15. I LOVE window shopping at the mall in the spring and summer. I never buy a thing, but its a great place for admiring women. :) I cannot do that with my internet shopping can I !!
  16. I am still pretty well confined to the house and bored beyond, so I started a fun project. I began scanning old pictures from photo albums. Very fun. :) I told Sara McQ once that my hair was once curlier than hers and I think she did not believe me. I now have the visual proof. :) :)
  17. It is based again on the under 18 criteria. See the following link, http://yourlaws.ca/criminal-code-canada/171-householder-permitting-sexual-activity
  18. I read the article that has been referred to here in this thread. According to the article, the charges that were filed were as follows: Procuring for prostitution a person under the age of 18. Knowingly concealing a person under the age of 18 in a bawdy house. Exercising control over a person under the age of 18. Living off the avails of prostitution of a person under the age of 18. Counselling a person under the age of 18 to engage in prostitution. Householder permitting sexual activity. Internet luring for the purposes of prostitution (two charges). Sexual exploitation of a young person. Breach of recognizance (three charges). Breach or probation (two charges). If I am correct, I find it interesting that NONE of these charges are related to things from the Bedford decision and are a validation of the fact that the existing criminal code already addresses the kinds of criminal activities that the vast majority of us are in full agreement with. A new prostitution law is not required.
  19. That poor little robin that I saw on Sunday is probably reconsidering its decision to come so early.
  20. Spring. Ahhhhhh, the thought. We have had three days of just above zero degrees, two of which had glorious blue skies. Enough of a taste that truly ones thoughts go to that most amazing of seasons. Many know how much I love it here on PEI but perhaps the one drawback is the season of spring. For those in S. Ontario the season sweeps in with a nice day and then a nicer one and then followed by a nicer one again. On the Island we get a little taste and promise and then it snows on us. Then a few more teases but followed by a freezing rain storm or days of wet rain. Finally one day, poof, it's summer. I miss my spring that I had when I was a kid. I am still and forever the optimist and every year at this time I think to myself, " This is the year. It's going to start now and just get nicer and nicer and nicer!" May the Gods of Spring rise from the drifts.
  21. Thanks for that laugh RG. I hear ya. Thanks for your patience over the last 17 days but sorry to say just two more years until it starts all over again.
  22. And this last one that I also could not resist. With this, I lay the Olympic victories to rest.
  23. That's okay RG. It just proves that none of us is perfect. :)
  24. Best wishes for a Happy Birthday Lee. Have a good one!!
