Whatever I have learned about computers over the years, I learned on PC's, and have had generally good experiences with Windows, whatever version I had. One year at work I was forced into using a Mac, and truthfully I hated it. The only reason for that was that I learned on a PC, and was very very comfortable with file structures and so on. Do you think I ever learned how to find a saved file on the Mac???? I know, I know, I am a slow learner. One overriding reality that I see is this - Mac users LOVE their Macs.

The front side of my old barn or outbuilding I guess, what was the worst side, has now been scraped and this afternoon I have the last coat of paint done on the shingles and on the green trim. It looks excellent. I guess I have three more sides to go! And - just picked my first corn out of my garden for supper!

Ymmv what does that mean to you?
mrrnice2 replied to a topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Your mileage may vary is such an intangible. Some of the things previously mentioned are of course a part of it, but I think of things such as showing respect, arriving in a neat and presentable manner, having good health habits relating to cleanliness and the like as automatic givens. These are things that just 'are'. My perspective on it is more in the area of personal connection and personal sharing. When a lady is comfortable enough with me to relax and engage in meaningful conversation on a wide range of topics then that is where the YMMV is applicable. I suppose that a sexual encounter of one sort or another is pretty well understood but when it can be so much more than just that the encounter reaches an entirely new and better level. To me, that is what ymmv is all about. -
Last year was my first involvement in the Members Choice awards and when it started I thought that it was such a nice and fun idea. When the whole thing went south I was rather distressed over it, so I would also be a bit nervous of having it brought back. We do have a variety of ways through various threads that are already in existance that we can use to recognize individuals should any of us wish to do so. There is the "I Like Positivity" thread. http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=58683 There is the "Cerb Goddess of the Day" thread. http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=90044 There is the "An Ode to the Gentlemen of Cerb" thread. http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=92407 There is the "Little Cerb Thank You's" thread. http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=100815 There is the "Highlights of the Day" thread. http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=63488 There may already be other threads that I have missed and I expect that there are. Perhaps someone has another thread topic that they might wish to create that will allow and foster the sense of community that we all seem to appreciate and will provide recognition for those who go above and beyond.

Wishing you a great day on your birthday! -
This would have been my 39th anniversary today, but it's my second one alone. Why a highlight? Because it was an amazing 37 years. :)

Whoo Hoo. I have been waiting for this for a long time! I like Jhena because she has a great sense of humour, is smart, plays word games and talks to me the odd time I am in chat. She is bound and determined to find out why I am MN 2. From MN2 version 2.0.60 Oops, once again, RG and I were thinking alike and as usual he beat me to it.!. I like RG too, because he is a voice of reason and even though he is selling his boat, I know that he will keep the rod and get his fishing time in.

OK. Bumpkin from PEI. I don't get it. LOL -
I like Mighty Finn because he has good things to say on a variety of threads AND he is giving both RG and Lee Richards a run for their money in the jokes department. :)

An Irish perspective on how to broadcast sailing. :) Hilarious. http://www.blameitonthevoices.com/2012/08/irish-commentary-of-olympic-boat-race.html -
Now I know why people choose vinyl siding. I just spent the day scraping the front of one of my out buildings, the old shakes with a zillion coats of peeling paint. But, that is done so tomorrow I start it afresh with new paint. Best of all, this is the worst side, so I could do it and decide to stop and do another side next year - or, I can keep going. :)

Here's to a Happy Birthday Cometman, another good Maritimer. Got ya a motorcycle buddy for your birthday but she seems to be off on the road somewhere......

Everyone has their own way of doing things. I know that I tend to book meetings well in advance, sometimes months in advance and I personally prefer paying in advance as well. It is my way of budgeting for this. I never have come to feel comfortable passing over that infamous 'little envelope', and even though I have never had a lady cancel, I am very comfortable that should it happen that my prepaid donation is not in jeopardy. I am still very surprised that all touring ladies do not make at least a significant deposit a requirement as a part of their booking process. I however, may be in the minority opinion on that. I will also stick up for Moncton seeing as I am a good Maritimer. It is not the city that might be causing these issues, it is some of the gentlemen.

Welcome to Cerb Fishfeathers. :) This is a great community and I am sure that you will enjoy it. -
I like Lee Richards because he is a buddy on Cerb and when he wins the lottery tomorrow night I know that he will remember his friends. All of Lees friends - line up behind me. :)

In the beginning and it seems like in a galaxy far far away I arrived on Cerb as a total Newbie, went months without making a single post, went more months before I posted a single recommendation, and any time that I did post anything, there was that BIG question mark beside my name as the avatar that Cerb uses as a generic symbol. Just yesterday Meg made reference to my rainbow avatar in a thread on here and it made me think about the person who suggested to me that I could do way better than a question mark as the symbol that I use to represent myself. I looked long and hard to find the one that I eventually settled on and for that little suggestion I want to thank Samantha Evans. Without her suggestion I might still be a question mark. I love my avatar and it has all sorts of meanings for me. So, I am betting with certainty that many of us have similar thank you's to Cerb members for little things that they have done over time. Not looking for the life changing things, though I bet there are some of those too, but just those little things that people do that are a part of what makes this such a great community.

I like NJ for many reasons but without a doubt he has one of the best male avatars on his profile page. :)

Am I expecting too much?
mrrnice2 replied to mike-su's topic in New to this? Things you should know...
I believe that one is not expecting too much to read an ad that is well composed, is grammatically correct, and hopefully without spelling errors. My reasons for this are twofold, with the second being much more important. On the one hand I know that I particularly enjoy the company of intelligent women and the ability to compose a proper ad may be an indication of this. I pay much closer attention to those women who have shown that they take care, effort and pride in their writing and who distinguish themselves from others with their style of advertising. Right or wrong, my belief is that women who show those characteristics through their personal advertising are the same women who will take pride and care in a face to face meeting. It is a question of professionalism and may be one of the characteristics that for me distinguishes some women as being members of the elite group of courtesans that we are able to interact with. Now, I wondr howe many gremmer erors I hav in hear. -
Yesterday and today doing a job that is many years overdue. Pressure washing my house and lo and behold underneath the red dirt from the fields is in fact a shimmery white siding. With hot sunny weather and the mist raining down upon me it is almost as good as being on the beach.

What does it mean to have a 'home'?
mrrnice2 replied to Nathalie L's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
As much as I seem to be on the road visiting with family across the country, there is always that something special upon my return to 'home'. For me it gives a sense of peace and serenity. To wake in the morning and have that first coffee in my own mug and outside with my flowers and property is something very special to me. I now live alone in a huge century farm house and in some ways that is absolutely crazy, but to leave it and the memories that it has would be unthinkable. It is my own fortress of solitude and brings to me a feeling and an atmosphere that I treasure. -

So for the true 'footballers' out there, was Canada robbed yesterday in that soccer game? -
