Halifax Revisited - Meet and Greet
mrrnice2 replied to mrrnice2's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Our first social is almost upon us! Friday night and a full house. I did forget one very important thing that I should have realized after being at several of the socials in Ottawa and watching Old Dog in action. I was supposed to put on every post about how you can all buy me a drink! Old Dog can be my role model! It worked for him! A great evening coming up. -
Somehow I missed your initial posts here, but maybe better late than never, welcome to CERB. I expect that you have discovered this already, but it is composed of many amazing men and women. As with most things in life, you will get out of it what you put into it, so it is great to see you posting as you are. Enjoy.

The countdown is officially on! One week from today with a full house and an awesome group of people attending. Can't wait! -
STILL hampered by pulled muscles. Crutches, wheelchair, sitting on my ass to weed flower beds. I may be using the wheelchair at the social in Halifax next Friday. :( Oh, but hey, if there is dancing and I am sitting down in a chair, well, isn't there only one way for that to happen???? Whose mind is going where mine is at the moment? Maybe this should be in the highlights thread. :)

Anticipation of Wanting to Meet...?
mrrnice2 replied to Winnipegcub's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Anticipation is a wonderful thing! For you Cub to be anticipating meeting with Emily R is an anticipation that is well founded indeed. For me and the way that I make arrangements to meet women, anticipation is a big thing as I tend to make arrangements well in advance, as in months in advance. This gives opportunity for maintaining a degree of contact and gaining an appreciation of each other so that when we do eventually meet it is often as if we are merely reacquainting ourselves rather than meeting for the first time. As the weeks and then days and ultimately the hours and minutes count down that sense of anticipation is heightened and becomes a pretty exciting thing. For me at this moment, there is in fact a lady with whom I have never had any contact as of yet but a lady who I am 'hearing' amazing things about as a person. She does not even know it yet but if circumstance and opportunity permit, then I believe that one day perhaps Ms. Julie Wild and I may cross paths and be able to spend some time together. http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/member.php?u=57263 I do so enjoy anticipation. :) -

Halifax Revisited - Meet and Greet
mrrnice2 replied to mrrnice2's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Whoo Hooo. Details all falling into place. All those who have confirmed for the social should have received a PM from me this evening with a few more details. If you did not get it, then be sure to let me know. A week from Friday people from five provinces meet in Halifax. I wonder if I can get a grant from Tourism Nova Scotia. What could be a better theme for promoting Nova Scotia as a focal gathering place for good times. See you all very soon. :) -
Halifax Revisited - Meet and Greet
mrrnice2 replied to mrrnice2's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
We now do indeed have 25 people that I am expecting in Halifax on the 22nd. I am pretty excited about it as I originally thought that there might be only half a dozen who might be interested. I have been tied up with company for the last while but by tomorrow evening(Tuesday) I shall send a PM to all of the people who are attending with a bit more information. I can see that I am going to have my hands full containing Katherine. Hmm, did that come out right? Whoo Hooo Halifax. -

I have been going through a process of late that has given me cause to truly appreciate the time and effort behind the scenes for SP's in organizing their schedules and their dates. In assuming the lead role for the upcoming Halifax Meet an Greet and with great intentions, so far achieved, to just keep it simple I find myself doing a lot of unanticipated work. There was the requirement of starting a new thread, then keeping updates on the thread, and then as a result receiving many many PM's. Most of them were really fun and pleasant to read, but a few others were much less so. "Yeah, I want to come to the social." Or, "Tell me what SP's are coming and then I will decide." Next we come to screening. In this situation I am not concerned about personal safety, but I AM concerned about discretion, about having the people that attend be respectful of everyone and of the environment that we will be in. I want as best as possible to ensure that we have a good mix of good people, so I have been looking at the profiles of those who wish to attend. I looked at their join dates. I looked at their posting history. I read some of their contributions on threads. I asked a couple of my SP friends if they knew some of these particular people and listened to what they said. That all takes time, and then it takes personal contemplative time to come to decisions and make contact again to confirm, and then as we get closer to the event I shall be looking for last minute confirmations because I do have a waiting list. Some people respond quickly and others are slower. With all of this it has brought me to some realizations about the work that SP's do behind the scenes. As a client I can easily see the one hour or the two hour time period that we are in each others company. What I can easily overlook as a client is the time taken by the SP prior to that - PM's back and forth, screening with other SP's, taking time to make the important decision about their personal safety, ensuring that the location is clean and acceptable, the personal grooming prior to a date, the expense of dressing in just that "certain" way, and no doubt many other things that I have not even thought about. So my single solitary little exercise has brought me I think to a greater understanding of all of those other things that SP's do that most of us can easily overlook and not even consider. I have always had great respect for the women that I have met, and now that respect is even stronger having had a small taste of what they do every single day. So a thank you to all of those SP's for doing all of those things, for doing the screening that keeps you safer, and doing all of that for the most part with no recognition of the time that you invest.

Halifax Revisited - Meet and Greet
mrrnice2 replied to mrrnice2's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
As of this moment we have 21 confirmed attendees with a virtual even split between men and women and I am very excited not only by our numbers but also by the equal representation of both SPs and hobbyists. It is really nice to see how we have so many well respected members who have decided to come. I have three additional people that I am waiting to hear from to confirm, so with these numbers and with the space that we have arranged, I declare that the social is full! :) I have also for better or worse, right or wrong, declined several members who are brand new to CERB, solely because I wish this to be a gathering of knowledgeable and informed people that have already earned the respect that I am sure will shine through on the 22nd. Hopefully these people will become active Cerb members in the future and will be able to take part in the next event, whenever that may happen. Again I do not wish to make lots of rules, but be sure to reread the initial post in the Meet and Greet thread, and keep in mind the obvious - that we are in public, that discretion is a critical part of the evening, and all the simple things as well, such as cameras would not be welcome, and so on. Two weeks from today is the first Maritime social and I am pretty excited about being able to be a part of that. I know that we will have people from four provinces attending and that is pretty cool! Those attending the social keep an eye on your PM box for an update on where things stand and eventually for a specific location. Thanks to those who have been helping in the last few days with suggestions and especially to Katherine for her help and wisdom. -

I shall be sending a PM this evening to all of those who have confirmed attendance at the Meet and Greet in Halifax on the 22nd. There are about 20 of us at the moment. If you might like to attend then please PM me as soon as possible. This looks like it will be a fun and evenly mixed group of people and I am getting more excited as each day goes by! :)
