Something about the Maritimes
mrrnice2 replied to Jabba's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Not that I am in the least bit biased, but the Maritimes are indeed a unique part of this country. It IS a different lifestyle and there are two life speeds, slow and slow motion. Being respectful and using good manners are just routine in day to day life. Like Hfxandy I am unsure of the exact direction of your question so if you want to clarify I would be glad to add my two cents worth regarding specific locations to visit, especially on PEI. I am also smiling to myself with the secure knowledge that we have our treasures here with our very own Maritime SP's. Now when Emma comes home, and if Gabriella keeps visiting the Maritimes and if Sara McQ loves her February visit to Halifax as much as I know she will, then perhaps they will join Emily Rushton in calling the East Coast home. :) Then Jabba will be REALLY correct when he says, "There's something about the Maritimes." Come play on our Island. :) -
Malika!!! I LOVE it. :)

Welcome to Cerb! It is an amazing community with lots of opportunity to interact with others as well as make some great connections with incredible women. -
Sometimes things just suck. Period.

Well in this case, as the saying goes, "The cream rises to the top." It was a good run and Tebow and the Broncos brought us lots of excitement over the past two months, but this season has drawn to a close for them. Football is a team game. The QB no doubt has a major role, but last nights mismatch was a simple case of the better team dominated from start to finish - offence, defence, special teams and in every facet of the game and maybe especially in the QB position. Is this a one season wonder for Tebow? I hope not because whatever it is about the man, he has had a history of winning and he does bring excitement to the game. So now, on with the show. Lets go San Francisco! What an amazing game that was last night.:) Thanks for starting this thread Lowdark. :) It's been fun!

Visiting friends while I am away and spending time with my kids. We are off to watch the Denver- NE game at a sports bar tonight. Beer, munchies and Tebow Time. :)

I like Steve because he was wise enough to make a Cerb decision and then reconsider it. Always good when one recognizes what is right. :)Maybe he will keep on that track and leave those Red Sox! It's nice to see him back on the boards and posting.

What Hell is really like?
mrrnice2 replied to Jabba's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
The concept of hell and heaven is a personal one for each and every one of us. For some they are directly related to the Bible and ones religious beliefs or non-beliefs. For me I am neither presumptuous enough nor faithful enough to grasp their actual existence in an after world or afterlife. My beliefs or concepts have changed with time and continue to evolve with life experiences. Hell is relegated to me for those times here on Earth when we are a part of or witness those things for which one cannot find any sane or logical reason for being in existence. Be it Darfur and Rwanda, ultimate poverty, unexplained and incomprehensible death, fire, flood or famine, they can all be a part of a living hell that makes up our being at this time. It is then how one copes or reacts or responds to these hell on Earth situations that bring one to the concept of heaven. It is the ultimate relief brought by goodness and kindness and forgiveness and caring for one another that can and will take that hell away. Sometimes, oftentimes, these are difficult to find, but for those who seek them, the living hell of whatever nature can be dealt with. We do live in the here and now. We are faced with our daily choices and for any of us our personal demons can be put at bay with a belief in oneself and a recognition that there is no obstacle put in our way that we cannot reverse or work around or learn and benefit from. The choice to help others in tangible and intangible ways is something that brings perspective and relief, and being able to accept help from others when it is desperately needed is something that keeps that hell at a distance. Care for one another. -

Congratulations Silverado. 500 and counting! -
Just a thought to include in this discussion, perhaps from a very different perspective? Geography, and proximity to SP locations obviously play a role in scheduling meetings. As well past experience in having to travel a few minutes, or more than a few minutes can possibly tend to make us take some things for granted. As one who normally must travel 3-4 hours each way, at a minimum, and also usually plan on a night in a hotel while away, the idea of having to only go "across town," seems kind of like a dream world to me! I actually consider myself fortunate that my access to SP's is not as easy as it is for those who live in Ottawa or Halifax or larger centers. I might never be home! My problem might be that there were too many awesome women too close at hand if it was only an hour or less needed to get to a location, and temptation beckons me easily! So, let us be thankful our blessings if our travel times are relatively minor. :)

Can men and women be just friends?
mrrnice2 replied to bcguy42's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Of course men and women can be friends, and truly they can be platonic friends. For whatever reason I have always 'related' better with women than men, and most of my closest friends are in fact women. Do I notice that they are women? Of course I do. Does it cause temptation at times. With some, absolutely a yes to that! Would I act on that temptation? A pretty certain no, but if they ever sent "signals", I would be in a quandry! Friends are friends. It can be as simple as that. -
I like Sky because I learn things from her through her writing, and I even learn from her when she is not trying to convey things. As an example, here today I thought I would include a picture of the Great Library of Alexandra in order to represent her knowledge and intelligence. Lo and behold I learned that it is actually The Great Library of Alexandria. Thanks Sky. It's a dull day that one does not learn something new. :)Always enjoy seeing you on line and in the forums.

The Tim Tebow story has certainly captured the attention of fans and media and the attention is garnered on two fronts. Football wise, the man has found ways to win, and the wins have come in a consistently thrilling way by leading the team to 4th quarter and last minute comeback victories. He won at Florida and may be bringing that history with him to Denver. It is the very rare NFL quarterback who steps into the position in his rookie season and becomes dominant. He is not a probowl quarterback by a long shot, but one cannot take away the fact that he has led the Broncos into the playoffs. In the long run for him, I wonder if a quarterback in the NFL can stay healthy with the style of game that he plays, where he is also perhaps their primary running threat. The other reason that he has gained attention is for his overt religious nature. The praying on the field and his quiet manner of speaking of the role of religion in his life have certainly rubbed many people the wrong way. Personally I have a difficult time with those who will not accept that the man has his beliefs, and will not recognize that he has every right to hold them. Religion is a personal matter and he, as with each and every one of us, has his personal right to practice as he sees fit. What is more bothersome to me is the double standard of the media and fans. A prime example even just today is that his team is playing the Steelers, led by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. THIS man has multiple histories of involvement with underage girls, yet there is little said about that and the NFL has done nothing more than give a slap on the wrist. If you look at the two men and their histories and the media attention as it is focused, it makes one wonder about where our priorities as a society are! I have always been a Packers fan, and of late a Viking fan, but right now, I am pulling for the underdog - Go Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos.

I used to play guitar a lot, for my own pleasure and for that of my family, but for whatever reason it got relegated to the attic about 15 years ago. When I pulled it down last summer, it was warped and unplayable. Guess that could all have gone into the Things That Suck thread! At Christmas, my daughter got me a new guitar. I have been playing again, and much to my delight, I am even recalling some songs, and chords and lyrics. My fingers are getting toughened up with every day that passes and I am throughly enjoying the relaxation that my humble guitar playing is giving me. And, since I last played, we have technology! I could not believe what I found here. http://www.chordie.com/

I like Hfxandy because he has a great sense of humour as proven in the BBM Fat Bastards group as well in other forum categories. I know that he is a good guy because we do have some common friends and that shows his good taste in people. Hey, he is a Maritimer. How could he not be a good guy!
