A Random Act of Kindness
mrrnice2 replied to Chanel Reign's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Voted and if you need help later on let me know. -
May I say first of all, that I feel a little like the guy who is the subject of that Playboy joke - you know, I only read it for the articles. Well, it was the articles that attracted me to Nathalie initially, and I have discovered that everything about her is equally stimulating. We had corresponded for quite a while prior to my trip to Ottawa and we had commented a great deal on each others forum contributions. It was clear that she and I are truly from different worlds - experiences, interests, geographies, and in so many other things, but those differences are as intriguing and fascinating as any other experience that I have had with my Cerb involvement. Nathalie and I spent a great deal of time together in Ottawa over a period of two days. Honestly I was a bit nervous of having planned so much time with a woman that I had never met and only knew through correspondence and a couple of telephone calls. I expect that she was nervous as well, but did not show it, and going into our time together we both felt that all would be wonderful. How correct we were in that assessment. For me, by my own definition, this was probably as close as one can get to a true girlfriend experience within the context of Cerb. She and I biked the Rideau Canal together and had a picnic overlooking the locks. And we talked. A lot. She is an amazing woman who I am so fortunate to have been able to connect with, and she and I shared a great deal with each other about our different worlds. We biked through traffic (Ahhhhh !!!!!!) to her incall location where we had the most incredible makeout session while still sweaty from our biking. A beautiful shower together was the preface to her giving me a Thai massage which is something that she has recently trained in. That was the perfect thing for my old and aching muscles following our strenuous (at least for me) biking jaunt. Dinner and conversation while sitting out on the patio at a delightful Italian restaurant was wonderful and as the time passed we were both more than ready to get the bill and walk back to my hotel. I was thinking about things other than talking when we got in the elevator. Nathalie likes to say herself that she enjoys making out like a teenager and the closing of the elevator doors was the signal. Once in the room the oversize tub was filled to the top and after that, I shall leave anything else to your imagination. In conclusion, and perhaps one should not make the following comment on an individual persons recommendation, but I shall anyway. I have never had anything but a positive encounter since I became involved with Cerb. Every encounter has been different, and my different experiences with Nathalie are ones that I shall treasure. I will see Nathalie again without any question if and when there is an opportunity and I would also love to be able to spend as much time with her as I did this time. I am also equally certain after having met her that a much shorter encounter would leave you with equally positive feelings when you left her presence. Thank you Nathalie for sharing a part of yourself with me in such a delightful and personal way. We shall see what the future holds, but best of luck to you and may it be true that I shall never need a lawyer, but when I do can you be the first one that I call? :)

Congratulations to Wrinkled in Time. There is an adage that says, "The cream always rises to the top". I am so pleased to see that it has proven itself to be true again. WIT, Old Dog and Roamingguy, the time that you devote to Cerb, your influences, your wisdom, your humour and all of your contributions have generated the respect that you have all earned and is so much appreciated. In addition, I want to congratulate all of those who were nominated, and yes those who may not have been as well. It is the contribution of ALL people, men and women alike that have made the Cerb community a very special place for me and for many of us. I hope that the spirit of fun and comradery demonstrated here will be the norm throughout all of our interactions together on Cerb.

As with most of us I recall vividly where I was and what I was doing when I was informed of what was happening in New York. Some of the other related images in my mind are peripheral but as clear as can be. For many years I have had a large bonfire with corn and mussels and living where I do, a clear sky provides incredible star gazing opportunities as well as the constant and steady flow of air traffic overhead since we are on the main flightpath for trans-Atlantic commercial aviation. The total lack of aircraft in the skies on the night of our bonfire sent us a reality message of the impact that the event had on the world. A second recollection is one where I felt so proud as a Canadian and especially as an Atlantic Canadian with the welcome and reception to the thousands of air passengers who were stranded in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. People such as you and I took total strangers into their homes for extended periods of time with open arms, and I know of at least one couple who has made lifelong friends due to that experience. Out of tragedy perhaps come small blessings and positives.

Congratulations Shymale on the first 500. Keep them coming to us.

CERB'S State of the Union - As I see it.
mrrnice2 replied to Old Dog's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Old Dog, I wanted to just do this with a comment on your initial thread but it would not allow me to do so. I for one am with you 100%. Cerb HAS become a community for me, with friends in whatever context that may be, but friends. I would hate to lose it or feel conflict or feel conflicted when I come in here. My naivity shows even after all of these years and my idealism still reigns supreme. I will be ever so content to sit back and learn from others, add bits of wisdom as I can, and even suffer through your bad jokes. Thanks for starting this thread. -
Congratulations LeeRichards on your 500th!

I am just back to the East coast after an Ontario holiday. I spent most of it with family, but I did get to be a tourist in our nations capital city and I loved every minute of it. Now I would not want to say that you are spoiled there or anything, but, man, two things come to mind right away! Paved bike trails. I did the Rideau Canal loop, and had a day in Gatineau. I will be back for the biking for sure! Oh yes, spoiled. Well, you see, as spoiled as I am here on the East coast with our amazing women and the equally amazing ladies who tour here, most of my meetings involve a minimum of four hours travel for me to get there to see someone and then usually an overnight followed by a minimum of four hours to get home. So when I hear complaints about having to drive across Ottawa from one side to the other for you guys to see someone, I smile to myself. :) I love Ottawa, love the women that I have met there, loved the people watching opportunities, loved the different restaurants, and I shall be back for all of the above. I just wish I could be there for the next social. I am not yet ready to move from PEI though, by a long shot. :) The grass is not always greener on the other side, so all you Ottawa folk, enjoy the opportunities that your beautiful city provides to you.

Being back home after being away and turning what looked like a hayfield into at least some semblance of a lawn. :)

Going away for two wonderful weeks, but returning home to a place that is your own personal comfort zone. -
I had considered writing this in the women's poll, however I believe that it might be more appropriate here. Perhaps if there is any wisdom then it might be transferred over to that poll. I heard about these recognition awards and anticipated that it might be fun and as well, a good way to recognize those who have significantly contributed to the community. I have been so fortunate to have been able to read and learn from the postings of many men and women alike who have welcomed me into this community, who have taught me many newfound life lessons, and who have made me smile and question and even cry. When I saw that I was nominated I thought just how cool and fun is that! When I see that I have actually received some votes, I think wow, that is really neat. Perhaps some of what I say IS of interest to others or maybe even helpful at times. However, should I have received enough votes that would have put me anywhere near the top of the category then I would have felt that something was in error, because I know, as do we all that there are members here who far and away are the most deserving. The three current leaders are in my opinion exactly the three members who have most perfectly met the criteria set in place for voting. It is pretty clear that members are not using the same rationale for voting in the womens poll. Certainly all members of CERB have their own ways of contributing. It is also absolutely clear to me at least that there are a selected few men and women who stand head and shoulders above most of us as members who have helped all of us in finding our way through this lifestyle. I for one truly appreciate the help that I have received and the kind, thoughtful, educational and informative pieces that are contributed for the benefit of all. It distresses me to see conflict in what should be a fun, enthusiastic and supportive community. At the moment, much of this is not fun at all.

Have a Happy Birthday Nicki. :) -
Waking up as a visitor at my sisters home, the sun coming up and already warm enough to sit outside with my coffee. Knowing that it will be a hot humid day and that I get to sit poolside, visit a bit, pop into the water to cool off and then start all over again. :)

And I ALWAYS thank you Isabella for the sunny days. Wasn't it nice that it could be in Ottawa for both us in the same place on the same day for once.:)

I had an amazing bike ride around the Rideau Canal, a really nice picnic in the shade down by the locks and great conversation and discussion with a new friend. The sun was out, the temperature was perfect and it was just a great day all around.
